And here's the latest evidence on why moving away from the DA/SA service pistol was a mistake. But really this is just an insanely retarded clusterfuck from the jogger deciding to run to the 'very senior officer' first interfering with her partner trying to cuff the jogger letting him break free, having her Glock out for a solid few seconds and not realizing it wasn't her bright yellow taser and then just throwing it on the ground once she realizes her major fuckup. She could've easily blown off her own partner's head and was a liability to everyone else there.
Sounds like it was more a problem with female officer. Ideally, instead of the TASER it should have been the good old PR24 nightstick. Should have hit the guy in the wrist then dragged him out of the car for a beating.

Of course women don't like that so it's TASERs and Pepper Spray.

I honestly think black cop was perfectly capable of handling that situation himself, she was actively hindering him. Jogger only attempts to flee when she inserts herself into her partner's attempt to gain control trying to 'help' causing her partner to move aside for her and the jogger sees his window and tries to make a break for it. Then as her partner's trying to rip him out of the car she again tries to 'help' flagging him with what she doesn't even realize is her gun causing him to again have to move aside for her to then blast the jogger.

Shit!!!

The former Chief of the department pushed this diversity hiring.
Laura Goodman was deputy chief of police, Brooklyn Center, and is a former Minnesota state ombudsman for crime victims.
Muh Diversity!
We are not recommending “lowering” the standards for becoming a police officer. We are asking for the standards to be realistic. In the 1970s, when we were young women testing for police jobs, one of the physical requirements was jumping over a six-foot wooden fence—a prerequisite that we never actually did in our work. The six-foot fence was a ruse—a subterfuge that kept many women and smaller-framed men out of policing.

Unfortunately, some of these antiquated fitness skills are still required. Many women get washed out during this process, or do not even apply. Consequently, departments squander opportunities to hire some really talented people who would be excellent officers. Police leaders everywhere need to rethink what skills are required to do the job, then have the courage to make changes.

We know there are myriad complex issues in addition to hiring more women that must occur to transform the police culture. The evils of systemic racism and racial disparities must change in a significant way. We also see promise in re-thinking policing to enhance public safety—ending the militarization of departments, dramatically increasing the recruitment and retention of women (especially women of color) and making real commitments to community policing. Policing is a noble profession and we are deeply troubled by those who resist change.

We call on all levels of government to put forward bold initiatives beginning with the ideas and voices of the communities most impacted by poverty, racism, and distrust of law enforcement.

As we move forward, women in law enforcement must have a seat at the table. We have much to offer and would like to help.

That's what White women love to do around Black folks.

Her partner is shown wearing his taser cross-draw on the opposite side of his body, so she'd have to be a retard ahead of time rather than just turning into one under stress to purposely wear hers on the same side as her gun. The way I can see this happening is that her muscle memory just went for her gun with her right hand, since if you're wearing the taser crossdraw you'd be drawing both with your dominant hand. The solution to that is just to mandate tasers be carried on your weak side conventionally so that you're forced to draw it with your weak hand and it's a little tougher to confuse the two. I don't particularly care about the victim here but even though I certainly don't think the female cop meant to kill anyone I wouldn't be particularly broken up if she got some lesser manslaughter charge since at the end of the day her incompetence got someone killed who probably shouldn't have been.

There was a similar incident in Oakland years ago where a cop shot a black guy in the back, because he also got his taser and gun confused. The cop was convicted on a lesser manslaughter charge. The usual suspects were outraged he didn't get more time, but the charge he got was appropriate under the circumstances.

I'd consider Oscar Grant to be worse since he was already mostly restrained when accidentally shot rather than trying to flee in a vehicle, but that same charge would be appropriate here. Just fire her, charge her with some lesser manslaughter charge and make it so she can't work in Law Enforcement again.

This reminds me of what everyone here thought of Chauvin before the riots.
