That Fatty never breaks a sweat? I do not understand......Sure I believe this helps her lung capacity ....but damn I do pilates hardcore and sweat from head to toe bigtime ,am i wrong you re not burning calories unless your workout causes you to sweat?What do the fitness freaks on here think I d like to know.
As someone else replied to you, you burn calories just by existing because your body needs energy to run its normal processes. It burns calories to keep you breathing, to keep your heart beating, to sustain brain activity, to digest, everything.
Sitting awake burns more calories than laying down and sleeping. Standing burns more calories than sitting. Walking burns more calories than standing. Jogging burns more calories than walking. Do you see where I'm going with this? Any time you do something that requires slightly more energy, even if it's something small, your body burns more calories because, as I said, it requires energy to perform these actions. Burning calories =/ sweating. You might burn MORE calories when you perform an action that requires so much energy that it causes you to pant and sweat, but you still burn calories even if you don't sweat. (I think there's likely a myth that calories come out IN sweat, which is not true and now how calories work)
This is a problem I see sometimes. It occurs when people think of calories exclusively in a weight-loss context and don't understand their physiological role in the body. Calories aren't evil excess fatass particles that you can only combat with diet and rigorous exercise, they're essential to human life and they keep your body functioning. You are burning and using them constantly and you need them to live.
The issue isn't really "she's not sweating so she's not burning calories!", it's "does a workout session in which Chantal doesn't even break a sweat burn ENOUGH calories to counteract her awful diet and allow her to lose significant weight?". Obviously, the answer is no.
I don't think she understands that weight loss doesn't abide by an A-for-effort merit system. Her body won't reward her with a gold star for
trying. Her body does not care. It doesn't see her new (and likely short-lived) behavior and say "wow! she's really trying for a ''''''lifestyle change!'''''' I guess I'll throw her a bone and magically manage to burn off 50 pounds of fat as a consolation prize for her efforts."
Her body will continue on with its biological processes as usual, storing the huge amount of excess calories she eats but doesn't move enough to
use as fat and she will either continue to gain weight or at the very best, break even and maintain her current weight forever.
