The disconnect, Lou, is that when you have 100 saved up, you'd better not refuse to pay your mom or your idiot friend the bills that they're otherwise on the hook for. I guess if you feel like actually starving (after paying the bills), whatever.
But most of all you don't spend money you don't work for intended for your upkeep on dumb shit. Btw, that stimulus could have eased the financial pressure on your donators for a long time, but you chose instead to waste it, justifying it by saying it's intended to be wasted. What a slap in the face to everyone who's ever donated anything to you. What an insult to everybody who needs more than that to catch up on back rent and bills.

Lou is fucking gearing up -HARD- for the new iMac. I can only imagine just how much he thinks he needs it. All brand new and shiny, perfect for 3 weeks use before selling it for above retail price.

Lou's total ignorance of the value of a dollar continues to amuse and annoy in equal measure. I'd like to have the kind of money that lets me describe an $1,800 laptop as "relatively affordable." I dropped nearly $1000 on a new electronic device last month, but I'd been planning and saving for it since last summer. It's also something I'll be using for years to come both personally and professionally, not flipping on Craigslist as soon as a new shiny catches my eye.

Lou, you aren't a fucking "artist" in any serious capacity. Your works consists of only recolors of pieces done by other people, essentially having 80% of your work cut out already. What would an iMac help with that? Will the reputation of being widely used by professional artists and designers somehow legitimize your skittle coloring? No matter what you do as an "artist", you will never be qualified as one.

I can't remember the last time I spent more than $1000 on a computer. I build my own rigs, and the last couple of times I had to work hard to even approach four figures. I reuse my monitors, peripherals, and expansion cards--and, not to toot my own horn too loud, but I make enough money that I don't have to do that. It would just seem wrong not to repurpose perfectly good equipment if that's an option.
Lou wants the new iMac because it's pretty, period. He doesn't care about the specs, he doesn't care that it's all but impossible to upgrade. He has no understanding and has no desire to understand how people who are poor but ethical make plans to get things they need in an economically feasible way--buying affordable components, repurposing old ones, etc. He sees a newshiny and wants it, and that's where the thinking process ends.
