It's honestly fascinating why.
I'm not a vet or come from a military family, but I like talking to people and hearing about their lives so I've developed some theories as to why so many troons are ex military. So I just wanna say that this is my own damn theory and feel free to drag me if you think I'm totally wrong.
There's multiple reasons:
- Highly masculine attitude of the military. The military is naturally a masculine environment where a recruit will get shit for showing the slightest effeminate behavior. One quickly learns that being compared to a girl is now harsher than before. There's also a lack of women, so misogynistic views can easily proliferate and make them think of a woman as only a method to coom. Also less likely for a woman to shame them for their weird sex shit, so it just starts to build up to troonery.
- Restricted views on masculinity. Building off of the previous point, one starts to learn that traits are either masculine or feminine, which can be read as good or bad, respectively. If you start to be compared to a girl one too many times, you'll probably start thinking that you ARE a girl since you're told that men don't do this or that. While most young boys do learn this without a military environment, I'd wager that it's more intense in the military and that boys that grow up in a home where this was enforced harder than others are more likely to join the military.
- Lack of order and support after discharge. Most of the vets I know have said that they feel lost and that the have no purpose in life after discharge because they lost the structured environment of the military. It's kinda like the same feeling you get when you graduate from highschool: no one is there to tell you what to do and where to go; you have to be your own captain. Which leads me to:
- Lack of sense of self. We all know that those that are most likely to be troons don't have a strong sense of self. The military emphasizes on the "everyone can only do one specific thing real damn well and when we come together we are a force to be reckoned with" methodology of management, so one can easily feel like a cog in the machine instead of a person.
Now, I could just be totally reading into this too much and the reason could just be that the type of guy to join the military is also the type of guy to be a troon.
Edit: I'll also like to add (
@Rainbow Frog Army 's comment reminded me of something) it could also be a rehash of the incel to troon pipeline. Most male vets I know have felt some type of way about the amount of sex that they have. It's the classic body count contest. I could see a ex military guy getting mad at the fact he wasn't laid enough (even if he was) and starts to go down the incel to troon pipeline.
