Pixar is looking for a young trans actor to voice a trans teenage girl

Even when Pixar films take us into fantasy worlds, they still feel very rooted in reality, with beautifully told stories tackling heavy subjects like grief (Up, Coco, Onward) and depression (Inside Out). Pixar has also focused on realistic representation. Last year, Pixar released its critically acclaimed short film Loop, about a non-verbal Black autistic little girl named Renee. Pixar’s first queer supporting character, Officer Specter, was also introduced in Onward, with gay actor Lena Waithe voicing her. Pixar has yet to introduce a trans character onscreen—but it looks like that’s about to change. The Twitter account for San Francisco’s Trans March shared a Pixar casting call looking for a young trans voice actor to voice a teenage transgender girl.

The casting call reads:

“Pixar is casting a youth voice-over role for an upcoming animated project. The character, Jess, is a 14-year-old transgender girl. She’s compassionate, funny, and always has your back. We’re looking for actresses 12-17 years old who:

  • Are enthusiastic, outgoing, funny, and energetic
  • Feel comfortable acting in front of a microphone
  • Can authentically portray a 14-year-old transgender girl
If you know a child who fits the description and would like to audition for the role, her legal guardian should contact: casting@pixar.com

Trans March confirmed they talked to the casting director, who sent them the flyer, writing, “They’re reaching out to other orgs as well, but we got the sense we’re the first to post about it.” Pixar working on a film about a trans girl comes at a time when trans children in the U.S. are still struggling to have their rights respected. Last month, the Arkansas Senate passed a bill to ban access to gender-affirming care for transgender youth, including reversible puberty blockers and hormones. It’s an inhumane decision that severely harms trans children. Having a trans Pixar character can be very impactful, and sends a powerful message to trans kids that they’re loved, accepted, and perfect the way they are.

Personally, while I know the reaction on this is going to be typically doom and sperg posting about how "yadda yadda trannies bad"

To me, I find the whole thing suspicious and dubious at best. Everyone can fake a casting document, and considering how Marvel and Star Wars shit get leak every day by supposed "insiders"

Nobody has heard anything like this until some randomly tranny Twitter find out? Something doesn't add up

Giving the befit of the doubt that if this is real, personally, I think this one of those Pixar "SparkShorts" shit rather than a character part of a full film, since it's those have been obvert with the diversity (Out had a gay couple and Loop had an autistic girl in those shorts) and you possibly don't have to worry about fucking up

If that's the case, I wouldn't mind! I know this site has a negative rep against modern animation and especially modern animation with diversity, but take it from me, I thought those shorts were pretty based, don't talk down, and even better then some of the actual movies lol

Now if this is a role for a feature film, place your bets! Let's see how short this character role is and how quickly they would cut them for China!

In the end, though, I don't think any of this is real, but who knows

This is probably going to be for one of their shorts, not a full film. Disney won't fund a movie about queers because they wouldn't be able to release it in China (and it would get the equivalent of an R in several other countries)

lol did they fucking forget they had to remove a lesbian scene out of their other movie "Onward" to appease their Chinese overlords?

Is Pixar just full blown retarded at this point?
This is, no joke, Pixar’s big 2022 feature:

In “Turning Red”, Mei Lee is a confident, dorky thirteen-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. And as if changes to her interests, relationships, and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which for a teenager is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda!

Wonder why troon representation is so much higher than other larger groups like those with disabilities, take high functioning autistics they dwarf troons in numbers yet less of them are shoe horned in shit.

Because the media will make trans happen and force all of us to agree that trans is a legitimate identity and not gay conversion therapy, mental illness, or attention seeking.

So you cast a boy with a boy's voice, and "woah, are you making fun of us troons by making us sound like boys?" So, okay, cast a girl with a girl's voice, and "ummmmm, sorry, sweaty, did you cast a non-transgirl to voice a transgirl??? That's transphobic! And how can we tell she's trans if she looks and sounds like a cis-girl?????" But I thought trans and cis girls were indistinguishable? Really gets the noggin joggin'. Also, this is a movie for children; what's the character going to do, wear a dress while they talk about having a giant cock and absolutely enormous set of balls? Apply makeup in a vain attempt to hide their Adam's apple, and shitty teenage dirtstache? Your best option is not touch trannies with a thirty foot pole, and that goes for everything, not just this movie
