I think it’s been clear for awhile now that their dysfunctional relationship was spinning slowly but surely down the drain. It’s also been clear that Lori has been blaming Kowvin for all of their misfortunes, especially considering how hard he’s been working to fight all the haters, while Lori stays silent about all of it.

That Facebook post Lori made is top notch conniving abusive bitch behaviour and I expect no different from her. This is gonna be great.

So... I saw Kevin had brought up two new people in his most recent Facebook sperg post. Not only is he blaming Momokun and Vamps again, but he's blamed two other cosplayers as well.

I did some digging, and this is the first result on YouTube. A huge convention proposal. It appears that those other ones were the cosplay couple that got engaged at the exact same convention as Kevin did. Possibly even on the same day? Wasn't there an unproven rumor somewhere that he proposed out of spite/jealousy of another couple? It seems like this one was actually planned and a much bigger deal than ol' Kev's.

While it sounds like Lori and Kevin are mutually abusive to each another, it's irrefutable that Lori's violent and erratic behavior has (and will) continue to escalate. If these newly named cosplayers are indeed leakers, then Kevin should be groveling at their feet for attempting to save him from Lori's abuse via public intervention. So many of Kevin's friends and fellow cosplayers tried to help him when he asked for support...only for Kevin to later shit on them. And, if Kevin and Lori tried to steal their thunder by purposely proposing at the same event, that's another countless example of their narc behavior.

I am a longtime lurker on Reddit but this is my first post because I'm completely at a loss and have no one else I can really ask for advice on this matter. I have no idea if this is the right sub or not so I'm trying here first and if it's wrong, please direct me where to go.

Also, it's long. TLDR at the bottom.

A few years ago I was with a group of friends at a very large comic book convention and one of these friends, 'Ken' [Kevin], had left his phone somewhere with another friend. I allowed Ken to use my phone to log into a messenger app so he could get in contact with the friend who had his phone. He got his phone back, we had a great rest of the convention, and that was it. Shortly after, I got a new phone, though I kept my old one in storage. This is relevant later!

Ken and I stayed in contact throughout the coming years and since we live in different parts of the country, seeing him at conventions is pretty much the only way we hang out. I looked forward to seeing him at events we were both at and otherwise just kept up with his life through Facebook and other social media.

About two years ago he got in contact with a model he had been a 'fan' of on social media and they started dating long distance. This was a woman 9 years older than him by the name of 'Lena' [Lori]. Lena apparently had a reputation in the community for being super crazy for decades but I'd never heard of her and I wanted Ken to be happy so I just watched from afar and stayed out of it. He moved upstate to be with Lena after a few months despite protests of us saying it was way too soon and all was quiet.

A year or so ago, Ken posted a cryptic message on Facebook saying he was in danger and he needed to get out. The post was flooded with comments from concerned friends (myself included) and we managed to get his parents to drive up to Lena's apartment to 'rescue' him. When he returned, he wouldn't talk about what happened, but said he really wanted to make it work with Lena despite everything because he loved her. And to the shock of everyone, decided to get back together with her and move her into his parents house.

A month or so after he'd moved Lena in, it had been radio silence besides a lot of happy selfies. A lot of people were suspicious because of what happened before but we didn't really know how to address the issue. None of us wanted him to be with Lena after the 'rescue' but he wouldn't talk about the actual circumstances of why he left so we stopped pushing him.

That's where the difficult part comes in. And why I'm here.

I had been cleaning my home and stumbled upon my old phone from years ago. I was gonna take it to recycle but first I decided to see if there were any photos I wanted to save from it. I turned it on and checked the apps and to my surprise... I was still logged into Ken's account. It had become the "main" account on the messenger app since I had upgraded my phone. I have no idea how this happened.

And I now had access to his entire archive of messages.

The abuse is...a lot worse than I think any of us could have imagined.

Lena restricts his contact with any / all females and some men and family as well if they say anything bad about her. She viciously stalks all of his social media accounts for posts that are years old and demands to know why he liked that post and then threatens violence if he doesn't unlike it. They accuse the other cheating on a daily basis and it's implied that Lena had cheated on him before [with Rikki] and that's why he left the first time. Physical threats and actual violence is rampant and they have hit / punched each other. They have destroyed one another's belongings. They have pets and the pets have been threatened with harm. She has threatened to tell everyone that he rapes her if he doesn't like her social media posts. And the list goes on. They just moved into an apartment together and the abuse has SKYROCKETED since now his parents aren't watching them anymore.

The issue here is that I am the only one who knows this. And the way I found out is a serious invasion of privacy. I have tried to hint at Ken that I know how bad the abuse is without outright telling him I've seen his messages but he either just tells me to stay out of it or that they're 'working on it' or to just simply fuck off. He has these moments of clarity where he will scream at Lena and tell her that she's made his life miserable and he wants to leave because he's tired of being controlled but in the end he just... doesn't. Lena reads all of his messages and has even said that if she sees me in person at a convention, she will tell Ken to choose me or her. All because I asked if he was doing okay and left a comment with a heart on his social media. She called this 'baiting.'

Maybe it's just me but I personally did not believe this when it was first posted because it seemed too on the nose with the fake names ("ken" and "lena") and the story about the old phone still being logged into his account sounded like bullshit. But now he's pretty much admitting it's real. Those poor ferrets, holy shit. Not only is it real but he's named who specifically posted it. Once again, he's the one digging their graves.

Getting some real alarm bells from Kevin's behaviour. Those persecutory beliefs keep cropping up, probably further exacerbated by Lori blaming him for 'ruining her dream'. He's so invested in the relationship (especially after choosing her over everyone else in his life), that I worry when Lori ditches him he'll feel so devastated that he'll decide to personally make those ~evil people~ pay for what they've done. He's just so full of rage. Hopefully he's too impotent to actually hurt anyone besides himself, though.

I really think that Kevin needs to reconsider seeing a therapist. As much as I want to see more sperging, he really should uninstall Facebook and other social media apps from his phone and disconnect from the internet. He is one of those zoomers who has placed an unrealistic expectation of personal worth on popularity, followers, and influencer success and has become addicted to the rush when he sees the likes, followers, and comments.

Kevin, you should be old enough to understand this by now: there are some things that you need to learn to zip your mouth shut on otherwise you will literally fall onto your own sword (and you won't be a martyr or hero for doing so). Got relationship woes? Keep it to yourself unless you seriously need and want help. Complaining about your S.O. to others -- especially on a public forum -- is setting yourself up for 100% failure. Kevin, you can scream that Lori didn't abuse you until you are blue in the face and your voice is gone, but you spent a lot of time sharing the "horrors" of how unhealthy and destructive your relationship is with Lori to multiple people. You can try to blame that it was a misunderstanding and that you went to rehab and that you have mental illnesses all you want -- but you painted a narrative to people who legitimately cared about your well-being that worried them so much that it prompted them to act to help you. If they got it wrong -- that's on you. You're the one who painted that picture to them. You showed them photos of a self-inflicted wound that you claimed Lori forced you to do to prove your loyalty so you could keep some female friend. Screenshots of conversations where Lori is blackmailing you with rape charges when you say "the abuse has to stop".

I agree with this 100%. The best thing he could do for himself (and Lori really) is to take a break from social media and disable all his accounts. Social media can be extremely damaging and all it does is distort your view of the world. All he sees are people “lying” and how many likes he gets on a post or how many followers they have.

The issue is when you try to work as an “influencer” the internet and social media is all you have and obsess over. I believe stopping all of this, getting a good job (both of them!) and maybe visiting a couples counselor or even an individual counselor is the right way to go if they want to attempt to save whatever relationship this is.

Alas, they won’t ever listen, but it’s the truth.
