A Texas babysitter has been charged with capital murder after telling police he used 'several wrestling-style moves and a football hold' on a one-year-old boy who later died.

Marvin Rex Lake, 24, was arrested following the death of Ahren Joshua DeHart who suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured skull, brain damage and hemorrhaging of the lung.

Lake, of El Paso, is initially said to have told police he had no idea how the boy was hurt, KFOX14 reports.

But he later admitted carrying out the wrestling moves and putting him in a football hold after getting upset that at DeHart had ripped a pillow, cops say.

Lake is said to have admitted anger issues, saying he did not know his own strength.

Police say he later insisted: 'I did not hurt his head. I only caused the internal injuries.'

The victim was being watched by Lake, along with two other children, on April 13 while their mothers were at work.

In a video call with the mom of the other children earlier in the evening, DeHart was 'in good health and alert, but was crying and fussy'.

By 9.30pm - just over four hours later - Lake called the second mom and told her DeHart had 'rag dolled' and vomited up something red.

The victim was being watched by Lake, along with two other children, on April 13 while their mothers were at work. An affidavit says the boy's mother returned to the Las Lomas home shortly before midnight where she found her son unresponsive​

The two other children in Lake's care were also found with injuries, authorities say.

DeHart died on April 16.

Lawrence DeHart, Ahren's uncle, said: 'Ahren was on life support and on Friday, at around 2:30 p.m. we were all there at the hospital and they decided to disconnect everything and let him pass away.

'Never in my life did I think I, my family, a 20-year-old newly married couple with almost an exact 1 year-old baby would have to live through this.'

Lake is said to have spoken with police the day before the boy's death seeking damages for a futon DeHart is said to have been injured on.

He remains in jail with no bond.

This is not a good argument. I trust myself, but I do not trust other people. That's simple self preservation. I would and have been a good babysitter for strangers' kids, but because I do not trust strangers, I would never hire one myself to babysit.

Ahaha in the US all you get for having a kid is a 10,000+ dollar hospital bill. Maybe you can also get food stamps or WIC to help with basic necessities, and supposedly blue cities give poor families lots of shit (though i've noticed conservatives tend to significantly overestimate what people can get with government gibs and how easy it is to get the gibs).

Even if they did just want to party and grandma wasnt available (which is possible), they weren't getting gibs on the level of actual money for the first 2 years of the kid's life. That's "socialism", at least according to the GOP (but politicians using taxpayer dollars to buy another mcmansion isn't socialism for some reason).

Child health insurance is completely free with very low co-pays. Maidicaid for adults is also easy, you can get it for feels alone. You can sit at mom’s house for a decade doing jackshit until it’s your time to get Section 8 housing and pay only $150 a month in rent. If you want to live the NEET life to its fullest, a blue city is the way to go, but you will be culturally enriched. There isn’t any reason to ever move out of your mom’s basement.

Ahaha yeah the child health insurance in my state is like 15, 20 buxs a month not including copays and lots of doctors refuse to accept it because it's shitty about paying them. So your stuck driving across town (or dragging your kids across town on public transit if you don't have a car) because the closest doctor that takes the shitty government health insurance is literally on the opposite side of the county. Also that shit cuts off the second your kids turn 19.

Trust me, my parents bitched nonstop about all this shit throughout my childhood.

As for medicaid, there's no point in even thinking about it until you're at least 65. Medicare exists for younger disabled people but you have to be on disability to get it, which is hard af and takes minimum 3 1/2 years even for obviously physically disabled people.

Since this happened in Texas I'm gonna assume the gov gibs these people had available is closer to what my state has, which is shit.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the parents of this kid were basically just repeating the behaviors taught to them by their parents. Their parents probably left them with whoever was available in the neighborhood when they had to work, so of course they thought it was fine for their kid.
