Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

After three years of taking their money in GoFundMes and campaigns, I guess the revenue has dried up to the point where he may as well be honest about it. Disgusting, but expected at this point.
He's been saying the same thing for a couple of years. "I'm not a joiner. I don't want to be part of a club."

Zack sees himself as "just passing through" the Culture War.

Goes part way to explaining his behaviour, i.e. reticence to appear on promo streams, the whole ‘going his own way’ schtick, etc.

I think the biggest indicator is the apparent quality of his recent shat-out prospective publications. He just doesn’t fucking care anymore at this point.

The godfather of Comicsgate just made a video where he says "I've barely kept tabs on [CG] in like 3 years. I think there's like 4 different factions?".

Sounds like he's completely noped out on CG.
There is a reason I call him CG Jesus: He came, told his thing, then buggered off and let his followers split into hundreds of cults waging holy wars with one another.

What really stands out to me is him saying in the video "Ethan uses this phrase, night letters" then proceeds to explain what it means.
Only he was the one who introduced it years ago.

That's not the case at all. Zack really does care, and he puts his heart into his comics. These two issues aren't related.

Zacks POV:

1. He doesn't see why he can't just be a YouTube critic without being a declared part of a movement.

2. He doesn't want to go on to livestreams where he can't control what's being said 100%. He wants to speak for himself.

3. He feels like he's attracted mentally ill stalkers, like the gay German dude who was obsessed with him and then punished him by downloading the "Dark Roast" for SJWs.

I'm also guessing he took a lot of the "Crowdfunders can never compete with the mainstream by only publishing one book every year" criticism to heart, and tried to publish shorter books quicker. He's got a ton of ideas that pop into his head and he's got the ability to produce them, with no one to tell him no, so he's doing it. Zack likes his own ideas...you can't really talk him out of trying something that he wants to try. He tends to need to do it and see it actually fail before he changes his mind. (For example, his recent decision to fulfill his own books instead of overpaying a fulfillment service.)

Quick question: if Zack was invited to speak at a SDCC crowdfunding panel (assuming he is still in crowdfunding by the time there's another SDCC) or has an interview with an Arkansas newspaper about where to credit his success, who and what do you think he'll mention? My guess is Brian Pulido for being his inspiration.

Anyways, in general comics news:

Black twitter, rather then feeling empowered at DC's stunning and brave "WE WUZ SUPERMAN" message instead chose to mock the "new" "character"'s wack-ass hairline. The artist in question, industry superstar and raging SJW Bryan Hitch, chose to respond in the manner now familiar to many from mainstream comic professionals and is currently trending. Will this be the start of a separate but equal Black Comicsgate? Will Kwanzer attempt to tortiously interfere with Eric July's anticipated comic book crowdfund only to be met with a lawsuit? Only time will tell.

Unlike those other two implied examples, Zack doesn't owe me a damn thing.

This Bryan Hitch thing is hilarious, though.

Zack is one of those guys that, if you give him a decent artist and a good editor on a monthly, can produce a solid run.His unwillingness to have an editor is his Achilles heel.
If he commited to do 2 Jawbreakers stories a year (because he can do so easily) he would be gold right now.

As for the Brian Hitch: white liberal women and their nice guys have decided to use black people as a means to replace white men from positions of power. They opened the pandora's box and it is so funny to watch them getting savaged for their "racism"

They gave you a cape!

only if Comicbook Hut can humble himself enough to ask Ethan to come to his channel for a debate.

laughable. You’ve heard hut, right? He will resort to really lame nicknames that he will repeat over and over in the first 30 seconds, get mad that he can’t defend himself or his views and leave.

I don’t like Ethan, but he’s better at debating and holding his own than Hut ever will be.

yeah, I’ve heard Hut. He’s the type that will pick a fight with you and then play the victim when you retaliate. Then he will repeat the process and, keep the drama going for as long as possible.

Seems to me that Zach hasn't thanked ComicsGate enough and some are getting pissed about it. Sometimes it's not about you specifically.

This is why Hut needs Doug Tennaple to level the playing field. Tennaple like Ethan is good at keeping it together under the pressure of a public debate type situation and he like Ethan knows how to push buttons.

I doubt Ethan and Malin would debate Hut with Doug T. though. They both get really emotional at the mere mention of the worm.

Which is what would make it interesting.

Sounds like everyone in ComicsGate.

Sure, but he has to actually ASK me, not pretend to dare me.

Comic Book Hut has had me blocked for two years. He even went quiet for an entire hour when I stream sniped one of his livestreams about me. I've wanted to chat with him for awhile, but he's protected himself from me across every social media platform until now. Feels like he missed his chance to be a big man.

His views are down beneath 50 on almost all of his videos, even the clickbait about me. It's clear that he needs a boost for his failing channels. I'm happy to do it, but he's going to have to humble himself first.

Stop being a cock tease Ethan. Do it on your channel and either humiliate the human muppet or be a chicken.

Richard doesn't care about anyone but Richard. He wants the benefits of it without the cost. You aren't passing through when you try to use the Culture War to sell your shit every fucking day.

Is this not the same Obama Superman character Morrison made?

Unlike those other two implied examples, Zack doesn't owe me a damn thing.

How long does someone stay in debt to the Frogfather? Is it a year, two? When is someone able to divorce themselves from you/Warcampaign?

That's a bit of an extreme reaction to someone saying you drew a bad hairline. How can people make it in the industry when they can't take criticisms as milquetoast as that? If that hairline was any farther back, we'd be calling him Lex.

Hitch has fallen far fast. He's gone from the Authority and Ultimates days to watching his mate Warren Ellis get cancelled and his Alan Davis rip off art sell barely twenty to thirty thousand issues of Batman.

Seems to me that Zach hasn't thanked ComicsGate enough and some are getting pissed about it. Sometimes it's not about you specifically.

Newman, everything is about the Frogfather.

I have to wonder if YBZ is going to see another six-figure campaign. Maybe another Jawbreakers would get there, but even that isn't a sure thing considering he's eschewed what are by now the normal avenues of promotion for crowdfunded books. The reaction to his non-Jawbreakers output has been rather lukewarm and it's obvious he's sort of coasting on a watered down version of what brought him to the dance while distancing himself from the actual dance.
