You've really hit the nail on its gourd-shaped head here.

I follow a few cows here on the farms who pull this kind of shit all the time. It's like they really think everyone's as stupid as them (or more precisely, that they're smarter than everyone else) and if they just say something's true then people HAVE to believe it. ALR is a great one for this phenomenon.

But with Russ, it somehow feels... different. It's not that I think these other cows are capable of the self-reflection necessary to really know what they're doing or have the intelligence to be truly manipulative. Again, ALR for example is as shallow and stupid as they come. But Russ is kinda next level in believing his own bullshit. And worse, he doesn't seem to see a contradiction between his bullshit ("I wrote a song about body positivity") and his delusions ("Yovanna will fuck me and make me famous"). It's almost like it's the same thing to him.

Very strange, extremely creepy, beyond cringe.

I've noticed this too, like how when he first tried to get Taylor's attention he tried to claim his song was just a gift but he also expected a date, sex, and fame. He seems to think that satisfying his ego is somehow a gift to them, like he's saying "I'm giving you the chance to make me famous" as if it's an opportunity for them rather than him being just another pathetic, talentless hack begging for attention.

Not saying this is what happened, but if you commented negatively on any of his posts he may have blocked you.

iirc "blocking" someone on reddit doesn't mean they can't post on your posts, it just means you won't see what they post but others can.

I will say one thing for Russell. When he wants something, he doesn't sit around and daydream. Without glancing at the lousy hand in front of him, he pushes his modest sum of chips into the centre of the table and goes all in. It's a shame that, as one hardest working lolcows in the business, we can't put his his hanging poker face on a silver round without being sued. It would really freak out future archaeologists.

I've always found it so odd that he's willing to work very hard at scrubbing toilets or other menial jobs if it means making a living, but when it comes to the things that are apparently so important to him, that being making songs for women he thirsts over, he by his own admission cheaps out and takes the path of least effort for him, yet expects the biggest reward. He barely does any work on his own music, he just writes the lyrics and maybe some basic sheet music, and picks the cheapest session musicians to play it and acts like it was some herculean effort on his part. I can't wrap my head around why he'll work so hard in humiliating jobs but won't put in any extra effort (not that it would change anything) towards what he supposedly thinks will bring him fame and fortune.

Playing "enlightening" music and talking in a soft and matter-of-factually fashion. It's exactly the tone many preachers use. I'm assuming this is probably something he picked up as a Mormon during church services.

Maybe some of the Kiwis more familiar with Mormon sermons can chime in? Do they feature the same type of cheesy dialogue and music as Baptist/Non-denominational religions?

I noticed that too. He has a certain style he adopts when he's trying to persuade someone of something. Do Mormon missionaries get training in persuasion? And just like a church sermon, he comes across as indirectly stating that if you don't heed his words, you're a bad person.
