Community Lolitas - 1000% more backstabbing than you'd expect.

I always thought it would be funny if Chris decided to be a Lolita... but now I see he could only ever be an Ita. *sigh*

Ludacris Lace?? Well.. to be fair, I can see why the dresses are poor quality if this guy is making them. He isn't even wearing real pearls and his hair looks painted on.

@trombonista But is she a lolcow or an itacow?

This is such incredible shit. I've always admired lolitas because I think they look so beautiful and elegant (especially considering how I could never pull off the lolita style in a million years), but I had absolutely no idea that the community was such a cut-throat cesspool. The stark contrast between how they look and how they act really bumps this up to the next level.

Bless you for making this thread :')

The shaming Muslim women thing really bothers me. Why can't they, shouldn't they, be allowed to dress up in pretty dresses too? People are weird.

Yeah, this really bothered me as well. I actually looked up some lolita hijab pictures and I think they look stunning. Plus, why is it any of their business if some women want to wear the hijab? It's a personal preference, just like the lolita style is. Unless they're okay with people mocking them for their own style choices they don't have a whole lot of room to bitch without being massive hypocrites.

Let's pretend that tumblr drama wasn't involved, there would still be girls bitching about how the hijab isn't "correct" and they should remove it for dressing in loli. If the Japanese houses suddenly came out with lines that included a hijab-style accessory, it would be eaten up like no ones business. Just like what happened with satin years ago.

...Reading this thread makes me want to go and order some mooks. :heart-full:

It is behind the BOWS. But bows are also quite common in Lolita fashion.
The reason for all the stockart+bows on BTB is because there used to be a rule about getting permission to use someone's photos. Basically people added bows to other pics to make an image lolita-related without using someone else's material or a boring burando image.

People seem to be complaining about the kiwi audience is misinterpreting lolita drama. While getting down to the truth of the situation is important, it isn't the most important thing.

If a group acts lolcowish to the public, then they're a herd of lolcows. That's not up for debate. Even if, in context, the "actual truth" is really very sane and rational, that doesn't mean shit. All that means is that when you've gotten balls-deep into their insanity, do things start to make sense. You could say that about every lolcow. Even for the Sonichu comics. If you get balls-deep into Sonichu, then yeah, sure, cwcville starts to make sense. That doesn't invalidate how goofy it looks to the audience.

So yeah, while there's some room to talk about the true and honest sequence of events, at the end of the day, it doesn't necessarily invalidate how you look like a giant collection of spergs obsessing over lolita nonsense.

Just dumping some that interested me for one reason or another.

I don't think sperging is always a bad thing as long as we stop doing it away from the forum... the forum that spergs together stays together, right? Besides, people here seem pretty well-informed on a range of topics and some small sperging can be rewarding.

Isn't it better to try and figure out at least the basic tenets of Lolita before we can fully appreciate how autistic the in-fighting is? They just look like your average everyday bitches otherwise and who would care about that, really. And because there's no particular lolcow in this group to zero-in on (unless Pixyteri counts somehow), we have to find what makes them different, entertaining and hypocritical as a group otherwise we might as well be talking about the Kardashians or something.

I don't think CWCville can ever make sense... if that to-scale map, free soup kitchens/luxury hotels for the poor and no elections concept ever made sense, we'd have to start asking ourselves some pretty harsh questions. The reason we don't need to sperg hard over that is because we know how it doesn't translate in real life (much like Brianna Wu... no sperging required to see how moonbat SHE is). Chris is an easy phenomenon to get into at least partly because of that... he's a gateway lolcow, I think.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to coord today's ensemble...

If we understand a few basic rules we can laugh harder at how they're carving each other up like SJWs do. Nah, this shit's full blown retarded.

If the lolita fashion is victorian, then why don't just fucking name it victorian fashion?

Didn't Victorians blow a gasket if you so much as showed an ankle, though?

Oh, no doubt. I just don't think it's lolcowish until you understand the level of obsession and ensuing cattiness behind it, which is what's being exposed. At first glance, it just looks like a niche hobby (albeit pretty age-inappropriate but still..).

I don't think anyone needs schooling on why some girl spazzing about wearing a brand verses a knock-off is funny or stupid. Lolita isn't any different than any other fashioncow, other than it's Japanese and thus has a weaboo component and trying to make it more than that just seems pretty unnecessary to me.

How about posting something about Mr. Yan's lovequest? That would be amazing~ I only glanced a few tidbits from his contests and the Venus thread on PULL, but haven't actually looked into it. (Venus does have a thread here, btw and her accounts should be taken with a bit of salt) Is Mr. Yan still looking for the perfect loli?

If the lolita fashion is victorian, then why don't just fucking name it victorian fashion?

It would make more sense. Sure, it's more Victorian-influenced, and a very specific subset of it, so maybe something like "Gothic Victorian" would make sense. It's not like anything else is being called Victorian, so nothing would be confused with it.

But they started it as "Lolita," and now it's called that, and nobody is going to change it, as much as that would be a good idea.

I've known a bunch of people who have been into Lolita fashion in some form or another since the mid 2000's (and heck, my younger sister has even dabbled in Gothic Lolita). I do remember when Lolita was mostly Gothic Lolita, as somebody mentioned Mana from Malice Mizer earlier in the thread, and that was my first exposure to it. It's only been in recent years that I've learned how fucking bonkers the community is.

I had a friend (emphasis on "had") who was into sweet Lolita. Unlike the people mentioned earlier, she was very much snobbish towards burando clothes, taking pride in making all of her dresses herself, as she was a fashion student. She was also chubby, and she used this to whinge about those fat-shaming Lolitas who only ever brought brand names and how they were all bitches. Only she didn't really call them bitches, because that'd be sexist. She was a particularly hardcore SJW.

It turned out that she knew a friend of mine from college who did crossdressing in Lolita, but she only ever mentioned him when she was using him as a bad example about transphobia and fat-shaming. Bitch was as white as a lily and only ever showed interest in dudes as far as I could tell, and she was complaining about a gay man of Vietnamese descent being too privileged. But I guess she needed to feel morally superior in everything, like when she labeled her selfies in her homemade dresses for the blind, in case blind people wanted to picture how she looked in these intricately-patterned dresses.

She's apparently been mentioned in /cgl/ in reference to New York Lolita meet-ups as being a huge bitch, which sounds about right. I don't know what's happened to her, since she fucking vanished and is no longer associated with her old handle, so she must have rebranded herself. If somebody found her, though, she could be ripe for lolcow material.

Also I'm pals with her ex, we talk about Jurassic Park and how shit she was.
