I think it's more than just that. His attention span is pretty shit when it comes to video games, and it seems to me that after a long enough period of time, he just can't take it anymore. Probably applies to a number of things that aren't watching wrestling or playing gacha.
The man's priorities have always been fucked. He want into debt so that he could play at tournaments but it wasn't even out of the kinds of aspirations that guys like Daigo had, else his loss to Tokido wouldn't have ended him. Shit, look at his life now. Hates his job so much, but would still rather endure it than change, because being the same guy in every way forever is more important than living a better life.
Once again, Phil's need to flex collides with his need to have a grift going wherein he's supposed to be poor.
He's certainly not about to blame his OWN schedule.
I'm sure it bothers him far more the reason he has no one: people don't let him get away with being an asshole. It doesn't matter if he ever got over his awkwardness, it would just make his caustic nature even more obvious, and drive people away from him even faster. He never stood a chance on being anything other than a lonely miserable fuck, not unless he was willing to change, and we know how he is about that. He hates the idea more than he hates his life now. It's like he's in Jurassic Park, and he picks the road going by the T-Rex paddock because it scares him, but not as much as the raptors do.

Did Phil ragequit Ghosts n Goblins? Because from what I'm reading about Returner, its difficulty and long stretches of really hard sections with no checkpoints reminds me of a 3D Ghosts n Goblins.
If Phil knew what was good for him, he'd cancel Returner altogether and just spend the 2 hour time slot doing a Hate Live podcast. Alas, if Phil knew what was good for him, he wouldn't be Phil.

I'm not familiar with BTTV but it sounds like the streamer pays for use of the service? Is Phil saying he's actually going to spend money on his stream, in a way that improves the experience for his chat? I call bullshit.
EDIT: also everyone who cares about it will have to install some dodgy browser extension. This whole service is just someone wetting their beak to display tiny ass icons in a chatbox.

Just think about this: his parents supported him until he was almost 30. One time they visited him, after he had moved across the country, and he had them do chores.
As much as he does so little for his fans, who took over where Ma and Pa left off, it's still more than he does for his folks.

I really have sympathy for Phil's parents. Unlike Panda, John, Howard and eventually Kat they probably will never leave him behind and accept he is a fuck up. I have seen parents abandon their kids for a lot less. What makes it even worst is that Phil would never care for the people that raised him like they do for him. Another part of me wonders how do you raise a person to be so remarkably lazy and self important?

Phil had two chances to go. He cancelled both appointments a day or two before he was up.
To quote him, he even said he can't go because his wife is home.
Phil is so out of touch it's insane. To every doctor that alone shows it's not an emergency, and they will not take him seriously. That might be why he has to wait longer.
Since if he was in pain or discomfort his wife being home wouldn't stop him.
Katherine is also an awful wife, bad person or simply retarded in some way.
She should want her husband to be well and healthy. So her not allowing him to go is telling.
However, she might be special or slow in the head and might need Phil around. Or, Phil doesn't trust Katherine to be alone.
My best guesses.
Whatever the case may be, they are not mature adults. They do not have a healthy relationship and they are an awful couple.
