My annual-ish check-in on Era and GAF. Surprised GAF is still around - Tyler must have put away enough money in its heyday that he can squeak by on its earnings now. Not a damn thing has changed with Era itself, but the mods have somehow managed to grow even more thin skinned. That place persists despite the mods, not because of them.

GAF is ready for a melt down. It may take a month or two, and E3 will be the true gauge if how healthy the site is (it isn't healthy) so expect Indian bots and shill accounts from the gaming industry to flood the forum to buff the numbers up.

So you can see the state of the topics posted. That's before you check out the gaf on GAF thread, with the most boring and stale conversation (besides this post!) on the internet.

Funny thing is, Tyler was forced to close politics and cleared out the boys club of threads like 'clown world' and the new 'britgaf' thread.

He has banned people for 'politics' while others talk politics and nothing happens. That's because he didn't ban them for politics, he banned them because he fucking hates banter or popularity of any kind, even though in 2020 he was a popular person for once in his life.

This time he has really fucked the forum and I can't see people giving him a third chance.

I would bet the farm on GAF being under new ownership within 12 month. As he very sneakily changed web hosts before the election, knowing that the user and post count was going to plummet. Knowing he was going to bin off the boys club at the first chance he got.

And the creme de la creme is a couple of users who pointed out - very subtly-that leaving a reaction on a post can get you banned. Reactions across site have dropped significantly, with gaming seeing the smallest drop and off topic becoming a baron waste of reactions.

TL;DR I sperg out, act autistic and laugh at Tyler's pretty shitty future. Join in everyone, don't miss your front row seat to gaf shitting the bed AGAIN!!

Lol I didn't even know Neogaf self-imploded after getting banned last week for reacting one of Tyler's post with a laugh emoji in the Chauvin trial verdict thread. I thought he was just being a being an extra pansy bitch that day and that he would eventually calm down. Guess that didn't happen and I was of the first casualties in his ban purge lmao.

I dont see why people stay. If Null started banning people for a reaction, the vast majority of people would use it just to spite him. That may be a bad example because Null just bans reactions when enough people cry about it.

Ex-gaffer here. Its fucking embarrassing how the forum switched in a matter of a day

Me and plenty of others were the ones that rebuilt the site for that prick to end up throwing us under the bus

No regrets though cause I made plenty of great friends along the way. The new approach of GAF will not survive

He can enjoy his PC, SJW basement dwellers now

It was only a matter of time for the switch to happen. The major red alarm was changing the name of the Clown World thread.

Would you ever return to GAF? Or only if Tyler is no longer associated with it?

Returning to GAF I don't think so. If Tyler no longer associated and the forum returned to normal maybe. But with the current circus no, I won't return.

I'm one of those that carried the gaming section heavily and I can tell by the current state of the section.

YES. Now that is the kind of quality chaos and nonsense I miss from ResetEra. They need to keep doing that every day until there's no one left but the awkward mods and their handful of lapdogs. I just can't be bothered to mine through all of the depressing and banal crap to find the gems. There's a twitter account I discovered that collects some of the absurdity so the rest of us don't have to browse the site but they're no very prolific, and they're quitting soon :(
