The Worst Shows You Used to Watch When You Were a Kid - I.E. Childhood shows that make you cringe in retrospect.

I know people love them, but all those random shows from the 90s like Animaniacs, Tiny Tunes, Freakazoid, The Mask, Beetlejuice, etc. all suck. They just aren't funny
Mostly yes. The thing I remember about Tiny Toons and especially Animaniacs is that they were extremely hit or miss. Everybody remembers those really funny bits. Usually it's an adult joke that slipped through like "puberty was kind to you". But nobody remembers Slappy Squirrel or that dog that followed the bratty child around. I hated those segments.

I have an autistic family member that's obsessed with Garfield. And goddamn it, that cartoon was actually pretty funny. I'd rather watch it than any of those '90s cartoons you named.

I remembered I watched that stupid Crash Dummies pilot episode on Fox when I was a kid because I wanted that stupid plane. I could have gotten a Megazord.
I also remember watching Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys. They never completed it.

They just aren't funny, and worse still they inspire the most cringe-worthy sense of humour in their fans. I don't think it's a coincidence that Doug Walker loves these shows.
I think Freakazoid still has some good moments but frankly the true champion of that era is Hysteria! but it is largely forgotten.

When I was a kid I would fall hook, line and sinker for these "Spinoff Babies" shows on the 90s.
The other day I found an episode of A Pup Named Scooby Doo and I had to close it at the 5 minutes mark.
A Pup Named Scooby Doo was my favorite of the "X as kids" shows from back then. It was also my favorite of the Scooby Doo shows (up to that point) since it was a parody of itself and being off-the-wall zany made it more tolerable. Kudos for you to try to sit through an episode, I couldn't even try do that.

Come to think of it, it was also the only Hanna Barbera "X as kids" show that had a plot, for the life of me I don't even remember what the overall plot of Tom and Jerry Kids or Flintstone Kids even was, just that they existed.

I've always remembered Yo! Yogi as the worst "X as Kids" show ever made.

Yogi Bear, with a 90s attitude, in a show is set in a mall that they torn down Jellystone Park to build.

Embarrassed to admit I watched that.

Only 13 episodes. It only seemed like it went on forever. I swear it was in reruns for at least the next year or two.

Not sure if we got this in Bongland or not. I remember having a VHS for another Yogi show though:

I really swear all these 13 episode shows felt ETERNAL when I was a kid. Even the longer ones with 13 episodes each season, the seasons felt eternal.

I suddenly remembered a really duff Saturday morning continuity show hosted by a cheaply animated cartoon dragon where he'd interview people, make fart jokes and introduce other shows. I thought I was going insane because I couldn't remember the name or find anything about it, eventually the only reference I found was an early 2000s forum of spergs talking about bad Saturday morning kids' TV. Turns out this really existed, it was called Tricky and only ran for a little while in 1996-1997. Its end seemed to coincide with Princess Diana's death, they took all other shows off all the channels to show the news report so perhaps they took the opportunity to never put it back on again.

Oh, and the dragon claimed to have fucked Penny Smith.

Speaking of b-plots nobody cares about. I flipped channels when U.S. Acres came on. I want Garfield, not these saps.

Apparently it was a failed spinoff of Garfield. It ran in newspapers for a short while.

The Pokemon anime wasn't nearly as cool as I thought it was as a kid. There were way too many filler episodes, especially during the Gold and Silver seasons.

I remember being hyped to watch it on Saturday mornings, only to be disappointed nearly every time and wait a whole week until the next one aired. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I have a distinct memory of being at a Cub scout meeting and some black kid was talking to a parent who asked about Captain planet. The kid was struggling to explain to the parent oh no he doesn't rescue people he saves the environment. And I just remember the parent scoffing at the absurdity of the concept.

Was the kid talking to his mum or something? A random adult acting like that to a child is kind of shitty.

No I think it was another kid's parent. I think how it happened was the black kid and some other boys were talking about Captain planet and the parent asked about it. His reaction to the explanation given by him was just sort of a okay and wide eyes.
