General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

My only complaint, and probably a silly one, is that reddit humour is predictable as fuck, and I dont even need to browse the subreddit to know what the memes are gonna be about.
What do you expect from reddit, they're one of the mainstream social media. Few are funny, most of them are okayish, and some of them are cringy by nature.

Also most of meme templates are already established long ago, they are just adding hololive images. That's why it feels predictable.

It took some of them this long to realize that those memes were shit and unfunny?! Nah but for real, a few of the memes from there were fine but the fact that some just starting to realize it odd but unsurprising. But I find it funny the way coco wrote her tweet with that "the memes were always shitty".

r/Hololive memes were always shitty (most of the time). Just showing non-Holo memes like she did with Haachama would make the meme review better imo. Oh well, it's all up to Kaichou now and it doesn't seem like she'll be changing her mind on this anytime soon.

Well, she did that Ark meme stream a while back. But, I can't say much about it since I didn't watch it live cause I didn't even know that stream happened. But as for her changing the memes around that will never happen and since the subreddit is getting annoyed she could just continue to show the shitty memes more out of spite. But I could be wrong and that is just me being :optimistic: especially that I watch both the meme review and looking at the /jp/ thread just to watch them seeth.

Moona revealed that ID aren't allowed to use any mods in any games. Not even shaders in minecraft. It isn't a country rule or a manager rule, but a Clover rule.
Well, Moona better not mention that she is using Optifine, unless she worded it differently or they aren't aware of it :cunningpepe:

That said, wtf. Even shaders are not allowed? And yet JP and EN uses it and some even uses texture packs like Miko and Ina. Why are you doing this, Cover?

Now, this is true for most overseas viewers, we are used to template memes for years. But I am wondering if the JP viewers enjoys it or not. If yes, that's fine, viewers from Japan can at least comprehend a bit of Western internet culture. But if not, she's only pandering to Redditors that wouldn't dare to leave their hugebox.

Jesus we really need Asacoco to be back. IMHO the Reddit memes becomes really stale tbh.

I wouldn't mind a bi-weekly Asacoco in the evening if 6AM prove too demanding. But with the new rule in place, it might be a while until we see something similar again. Kanata try to start a new program when she introduce each member with new viewer in mind along with recent happening/event. Only one episode in and it got put on hiatus because of the new rule. Kanata say the management check it and say that each episond have to be review by a committee as per the new rule before it get air, so she dropped it until she know what she want to do with it next.

It's a very odd situation.

Shitposts in the west is literally 'post whatever the fuck you want to varying degrees of hilarity', but Japan's copyright laws mean that all of these templates inherently take effort to produce and therefore is no longer a shitpost. So all you have is a notoriously unfunny hugbox community using a handful of templates to recycle the same jokes over and over again.

I haven't watched the Lamy stream, but I can guarantee there's a lot of drunkard jokes. I knew there'd be gorilla jokes for Kanata. You know there'd be TMT jokes for Towa. The western fanbase is practically forced to clutch onto these flanderised portrayals of the JP branch because they don't understand 99% of their content, and it doesn't help that clippers constantly regurgitate these things as nauseum. Right now they're all being berated to say 'Hi honey' for literally no discernable reason.

It also doesn't help that Coco only gives Redditors a day or two to produce the shitposts after the next guest is teased, and as it's a weekly occurrence, the already unfunny sect is drained of any modicum of creative output they may have had.

The result? Well, they're no longer shitposts, they're seldom funny, the western fans know exactly what's coming, and I'm pretty sure the JP fans have figured this out too. The only reason to watch, really, is to hear the guests laugh at the jokes and derive some kind of entertainment from that.

Maybe shifting it to bi-weekly, or giving the subreddit more time to concoct jokes would raise the quality of the show.

Since Coco started announcing the guests people desperate to have their meme shown on stream would flood the board with stuff about the guest, and she'd mostly choose from among those, making things even more formulaic. In the earlier reviews the memes, while reddit tier, were at least organically grown. I imagine this way of doing things is way less time intensive though, and also ensures a steady schedule, even if the content gets gradually more meta and retarded.

Ojou is getting a new outfit today.

Speaking of Ojou, Hologra with 200% extra Oni, I get the feeling Cover saw how people went insane over that one Ayame episode and did it again.
(unrelated, but my retarded-ass read the title as "ides of march" for some reason)

Talents themselves continue to encourage this behavior. I dunno if it's good or bad. JP talents seem to like being assigned an 'identity'.

Also, memes are like corona, easy to spread, stubborn to die out.
