The audience does not have a choice in who buys what property. Their myths and legends, part of human cultures since the beginning, are bought and sold to the highest bidder, to be fucked with in whatever way possible.

Oh it’s definitely for clout, and I think smarter people on either end of the political spectrum will all agree that its a pretty stupid stunt to net them a few extra dollars from the pockets of leftist fans who are easily fooled into thinking Disney is their friend.

But people going off the deep end because a black character takes up the mantle after a white character dies is stupid and honestly makes you look as ridiculous as the sjws that cry about how the whole cast aren’t black gay troons.

If it REALLY upsets you, stop giving them money. The people (again, on both sides) who make such a stink about Disney not staunchly aligning with their political ideals also almost always seem to be the people with Disney+ subscriptions who shell out for every shitty reskinned story they pump out. Yeah it sucks seeing your favourite character ruined (I was a Berserk fan in 2016, I know the pain of bad adaptations), I’m not denying that. Part of the problem with letting somebody else come in and change whatever about an established character or story is the lazy nature of it.
These people who make iron man a black chic or thor a woman are riding on the coattails of previous writers. They have neither the talent nor the self-reflection to realize such.
I doubt there would be this big of a backlash if have of these relaunches where actually good in terms of art and storytelling.
Most people don't want reimaginings of established characters and stories. Give them new ones with good stories. And then have those characters check all the diversity boxes.
Of course these people can't do good stories to start with. Hence why they plaster over that failing with diversity and shitty political pandering. Which leads to the backlash.

That's the problem, most of the time the "white character" isn't dying, there's no closure, it's just "we're changing the original Superman that is currently being player by Henry Cavill into a jogger for zero reason, despite having several existing properties that are joggers trying to fill superman's boots (Steel) or that are joggers from Krypton (Calvin Ellis from Alt-Earth-23, etc.)."

Not a single attempt to pass any torches (like Capt. America going back in time to live a life with the Bri*ish chick, and giving his shield to Rhodes when he shows up as an old guy), just a forced re-imagining of a character as some minority identity group, because "minority good! non-minority bad!"

If DC was talking about flushing the Shaq version of Steel into the ocean, and remaking it with someone that can act, that'd be pretty cool, since that was around the last time I gave a crap about comics, but I ain't holding out hope that they're going to do that, based on the statements being made.
