A children's book author/conspiracy theorist/surrealist video game maker going crazy and violently murdering his terminally ill wife in Shetland sounds fascinating.
Unfortunately Nexpo got in the way.

I'm surprised I hadn't found this thread before just now, considering I practically breathe horror content. Gotta catch up on it.
Admittedly Nexpo is the problem for this video. The topic at hand is great, but dude, if you're going to tell me in your own video that there's so much to this rabbit hole that you're not going to try and cover then why bother covering it in the first place? Not to mention, he goes and paints the dude to be like "oh he's crazy, he totally might have killed his wife... maybe, or someone got away with murder but we'll never know because the Scotland police are shite."A children's book author/conspiracy theorist/surrealist video game maker going crazy and violently murdering his terminally ill wife in Shetland sounds fascinating.

He's pretty good, I think. I've been listening to his conspiracy theory iceberg while I work and I like how he takes to the topic. His No Country For Old Men video's pretty good too. And yeah, I always feel like a fucking hipster complaining about shit going mainstream, but with stuff like this it really does tank the quality. Gotta be marketable to a wide audience!I'm in a similar situation. I'm always on the hunt for long form YouTube content to download and listen while I work. Use to do Podcasts, but it seems like that medium has fallen to ruin. Mainstream fully consumed it, and the people that aren't being produced by a media entity, but are also competent enough to produce something listenable, are mimicking the bland, shallow, low effort content of the big guys. Dark Histories mentioned in this thread falls into this category IMO. He's not bad, he's covered some interesting stuff I've never heard, but he always seems to have 25 minutes or content he's trying to make an hour out of.
Unfortunately, Wendigoon is the only new recommendation to me from the highlights of this thread. I've been on the bottom of the barrel for a while now.
yeah, he just doesn't seem like someone who's very smart. The composition was alright, the stylized 3d model of the crime scene was a nice touch, but the script was absolutely awful and directionless. He's given such powerful surrealist horror imagery and he completely failed to convincingly integrate it with the story.Admittedly Nexpo is the problem for this video. But would he have mutilated his own dick? That's the weird part in all of this.yeah, he just doesn't seem like someone who's very smart. I felt there wasn't really any mystery to who killed her, the weak willed and indecisive Shetland Yard likely didn't have the stomach to break the truth that he was an abusive prick who would torment his ailing wife in the remote far north. That should have been the focus of the story.
his wife had similar injuries, I can imagine him entering a manic state and attacking her and then himself. Maybe motivated by sexual frustration due to his wife's illness. There's tonnes of videos of schizos attacking themselves and their genitals. But would he have mutilated his own dick? That's the weird part in all of this.
If he did it, that would make perfect sense. It would have been nice if there was evidence from the police to talk about, because the way Nexpo presented it was so open ended, we don't know if we can ignore the friends who visited them or not. It's really the fact the friends said he said something as strange as he did which throws me off, because who says that? If he was clearly taking his meds, I find it very strange. But we have people thinking Elisa Lam was murdered still or she was seeing ghosts when there was a logical explanation.his wife had similar injuries, I can imagine him entering a manic state and attacking her and then himself. I find it far more likely that the crazy man did this to himself rather than a crazy man attacking the crazy man and his wife in an isolated and safe area.
It's a shame there wasn't any meaningful analysis of his media, likely not worth much, but it would be interesting if there were any recurring themes of sexual sadism, sexual frustration, or violence against women.
Yeah I like Nexpo but this is the most annoying thing he does especially when his older videos didn't have this. I feel he did this with the MamaMax influence that was put on him.I hate the fake hesitation they all add to their speech. Nexpo does it all the fuckin time.
Call me a sperg, but I can’t really get past the Dragonball Z weeb crap. I’ve tried to watch his videos before and just end up mildly annoyed. Horrible Reviews has a series on disturbing videos and is a good bit more thorough in my opinion, unfortunately he seems to only post new content like twice a year.Anyone mention SpookyRice yet? I like his stuff, similar to FoundFlix and Dead Meat, only he covers even darker/more gorey movies, instead of normie horror movies. Good stuff to have on in the background. Currently binging Rice's videos while playing Fallout New Vegas for the first time.
It does get tiring after a while, I'll admit. But since I'm not paying full attention, it doesn't bother me as much. I'm sure just like PlaugedMoth or Scaretheater, if I fully focused on the videos I'll be annoyed as well.Call me a sperg, but I can’t really get past the Dragonball Z weeb crap. It was thing he tried to get rid of, but people got butthurt because they liked hearing "cue the Gohan."Call me a sperg, but I can’t really get past the Dragonball Z weeb crap. It’s more of a ‘me’ thing, because of the nature of my work has become reflexive these days I end up focusing more of my attention to the videos than my actual work. I have the same issues with those creators as well, which is a shame, because I’d enjoy life more if I wasn’t so hyper focused. It does get tiring after a while, I'll admit. I took a look see back at his newer videos and it’s greatly toned down, so I think I’ll give him another watch for fairness, especially since his content seems well made otherwise. It was thing he tried to get rid of, but people got butthurt because they liked hearing "cue the Gohan."
