Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

A children's book author/conspiracy theorist/surrealist video game maker going crazy and violently murdering his terminally ill wife in Shetland sounds fascinating.

Unfortunately Nexpo got in the way.
I only knew of it before hand after watching some of Saints stream on the game, i'm suprised it took this long for a youtuber to make a video about it.

I'm surprised I hadn't found this thread before just now, considering I practically breathe horror content. Gotta catch up on it.

I'm in a similar situation. I'm always on the hunt for long form YouTube content to download and listen while I work. Use to do Podcasts, but it seems like that medium has fallen to ruin. Mainstream fully consumed it, and the people that aren't being produced by a media entity, but are also competent enough to produce something listenable, are mimicking the bland, shallow, low effort content of the big guys. Dark Histories mentioned in this thread falls into this category IMO. He's not bad, he's covered some interesting stuff I've never heard, but he always seems to have 25 minutes or content he's trying to make an hour out of.

Unfortunately, Wendigoon is the only new recommendation to me from the highlights of this thread. I've been on the bottom of the barrel for a while now.

Admittedly Nexpo is the problem for this video. The topic at hand is great, but dude, if you're going to tell me in your own video that there's so much to this rabbit hole that you're not going to try and cover then why bother covering it in the first place? Not to mention, he goes and paints the dude to be like "oh he's crazy, he totally might have killed his wife... maybe, or someone got away with murder but we'll never know because the Scotland police are shite."

He's pretty good, I think. I've been listening to his conspiracy theory iceberg while I work and I like how he takes to the topic. His No Country For Old Men video's pretty good too. And yeah, I always feel like a fucking hipster complaining about shit going mainstream, but with stuff like this it really does tank the quality. Gotta be marketable to a wide audience!

I got recommended a channel named Chill Fuel yesterday, only four videos and less than 50k views. Can't tell yet if it's going to be more of the same or not, but it's a fresh face.

yeah, he just doesn't seem like someone who's very smart. The composition was alright, the stylized 3d model of the crime scene was a nice touch, but the script was absolutely awful and directionless. He's given such powerful surrealist horror imagery and he completely failed to convincingly integrate it with the story.

I felt there wasn't really any mystery to who killed her, the weak willed and indecisive Shetland Yard likely didn't have the stomach to break the truth that he was an abusive prick who would torment his ailing wife in the remote far north. That should have been the focus of the story.

But would he have mutilated his own dick? That's the weird part in all of this.

The worst part of Nexpo's video was the main thrust of it. The coverage of the game was somehow more interesting, probably because like you guys said, he didn't have much to offer on the weird guy possibly killing everyone and his balls.

his wife had similar injuries, I can imagine him entering a manic state and attacking her and then himself. Maybe motivated by sexual frustration due to his wife's illness. There's tonnes of videos of schizos attacking themselves and their genitals.

I find it far more likely that the crazy man did this to himself rather than a crazy man attacking the crazy man and his wife in an isolated and safe area.

It's a shame there wasn't any meaningful analysis of his media, likely not worth much, but it would be interesting if there were any recurring themes of sexual sadism, sexual frustration, or violence against women.

If he did it, that would make perfect sense. It would have been nice if there was evidence from the police to talk about, because the way Nexpo presented it was so open ended, we don't know if we can ignore the friends who visited them or not. It's really the fact the friends said he said something as strange as he did which throws me off, because who says that? If he was clearly taking his meds, I find it very strange. But we have people thinking Elisa Lam was murdered still or she was seeing ghosts when there was a logical explanation.

If Nexpo wants to present unsolved cases, he needs to present all the evidence that is available to the public, not tell people to look it up themselves. He should have stuck with just talking about the game.

Since there are some newcomers in the thread I can't help but shill MONSTERS again. Plenty of well organized and researched true crime vids with some occasional humor that doesn't feel forced or disrespectful. Plus he tends to upload later at night which is great if you're usually awake at that time. It's got me through a lot of boring sleepless nights.

Monsters is overall a good channel, I just hate his occasional pauses to explicitly point out ridiculous moments and act all sassy. Like yeah we know that shit is fucked and makes no sense, you don't have to go "I'm SoRrY, dOinG [x] to jUstIfy [y]? I, a normal human being finds that outrageous." Thankfully he doesn't do it a lot unlike other true crime youtubers. It's fine to express that certain parts of a case made you sad but pausing every second to show how exasperated you are has to be the most annoying shit. I didn't come here to hear your opinion (which is the opinion everyone has) I came here to learn about a true crime case, so get on with it you dumb cunt

Anyone mention SpookyRice yet? I like his stuff, similar to FoundFlix and Dead Meat, only he covers even darker/more gorey movies, instead of normie horror movies. Good stuff to have on in the background. Currently binging Rice's videos while playing Fallout New Vegas for the first time.
Call me a sperg, but I can’t really get past the Dragonball Z weeb crap. I’ve tried to watch his videos before and just end up mildly annoyed. Horrible Reviews has a series on disturbing videos and is a good bit more thorough in my opinion, unfortunately he seems to only post new content like twice a year.

It does get tiring after a while, I'll admit. But since I'm not paying full attention, it doesn't bother me as much. I'm sure just like PlaugedMoth or Scaretheater, if I fully focused on the videos I'll be annoyed as well.

It was thing he tried to get rid of, but people got butthurt because they liked hearing "cue the Gohan."

New video from Nick Crowley. Quit listening halfway and unsubbed. He's tiresome and obnoxious to listen at. He tries to speak in a spoopy way, and the things he talks about is SJW-dark.

Only reason for why he got a big following in such a short time, is because he's cute. And now the guy doesn't even gives us some eyecandy, what a shame.

It’s more of a ‘me’ thing, because of the nature of my work has become reflexive these days I end up focusing more of my attention to the videos than my actual work. I have the same issues with those creators as well, which is a shame, because I’d enjoy life more if I wasn’t so hyper focused.

I took a look see back at his newer videos and it’s greatly toned down, so I think I’ll give him another watch for fairness, especially since his content seems well made otherwise.
