There seem to be two buckets MGTOWs fall in:

1) Guys who got raped in divorce court. Understandable that they feel bitter. They are usually there in the scene for a little while until they find a girlfriend and then they leave once they get regular sex and the bitterness starts to fade away.

2) Guys who will never get pussy. True incels who have just given up on ever getting laid. These people like The Dick Show because they want someone remotely relevant to latch on to who validated their “decision” to not have sex.

Fun fact: MGTOW originally never meant a relationship-strike. It was more about charting your own course apart from women, especially when you're young. Even that can be critcized because it was older guys telling younger guys to ignore women which always felt self-serving but at some point it mutated into proro-incels.

Which, looking back with hindsight, says a lot about the audience it must have attracted. This was a time when anti-feminism was really picking up as well so it wasn't just the misfit toys who find any fringe movement. There is a stereotype that guys who can never finally get a handle on women properly are manchildren. Hard to dispute. Especially when you delve into related geek subcultures that MGTOWs tend to love, like otaku shit, this stereotype is extremely prevalent. It's a far cry from the dude who gets hitched and jokes about "happy wife, happy life" while she titters about something trivial.
