Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

The more accurate truth was that it was an easy pressure release valve, hurts their plans long-term, but let them stop things from boiling over and fucking up -hard- in the short-term.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they try to finesse the ending of the eviction moratorium (currently set for June 30th). They're going to have to deal with it at some point no matter how much legal wrangling and delays they try to impose. Add in the loss of the federal unemployment benefits that some states are implementing, and we're sitting on a powder keg by the time Summer gets in full swing.

The CDC being able to institute an eviction moratorium is frightening. Since racism has been declared a public health crisis, I can only imagine the measures they could put into place to "fight" it.

I'm honestly taken by surprise at how quickly the virus regime is drying up and blowing away, at least in America. Did the tyrants just get tired of capriciously exercising all that power? Why? As others have pointed out, it wasn't even two months ago that the volume on this shit was still set at deafening levels and propaganda designed to perpetuate fear was being ceaselessly blasted at us 24/7. What exactly changed?

Some have speculated that the economic numbers spooked the powers that be, but I'm left wondering why they would give a shit. Economic devastation for the peasantry was such an obvious result of enacting the lockdowns that it would logically seem to be the desired outcome. I mean I'd much rather this bullshit become a thing of the past and want to welcome this development, but I'm wary that we're just moving on to the next phase of whatever the architects of this nightmare have planned. I hope that's just my fevered paranoiac tendencies, but we'll see.

Oh it's not over yet by a long chalk. You are right to be paranoid. What was it Andy Grove used to say?

Here in Bongistan they have been edging us. I knew it was going to be a "Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in" moment when they said things would probably be returning to normal soon, and surprise surprise, the 'Indian variant' has hit us, it's going wild here, and they are about to shut it all down again. And if not this time, than next time. Next wave, next mutation.

Yeah, just get ready for the next phase when the architects move the goal posts.

This is fun for them. They get to collect a lot of data. This is fun for their quislings and bootlickers. They get to collect good boi points.

But this is a global drive. This isn't just habbening in just one country. They are playing it out all over the world on the grand chessboard. Comparing notes.

Things are so fucking bad, in fact, that when I tried to get a repeat prescription from my doctor's surgery, I was faced with a big wall of text that said:

WE ARE FUCKING SNOWED UNDER. STOP PHONING US YOU CUNTS. OK, SO WE WON'T SEE ANYONE EVERY AGAIN IN PERSON AND THINGS ARE ONLY DONE OVER THE PHONE NOW - BUT THERE ARE GREAT DELAYS. DO YOU NEED TO PHONE US? ARE YOU DYING? TOUGH SHIT - PHONE THE FUCKING 999. STOP FUCKING PHONING US!!!

THERE MAY BE SOME DELAYS. BECAUSE CUNTS LIKE YOU KEEP PHONING US.

PLEASE DO NOT ABUSE OUR STAFF WE WORK VERY HARD AND YOU WILL BE DOBBED IN TO THE COPS IF YOU LOOK AT US THE WRONG WAY. YOU CUNTS.

Lucky I've got a really great female doctor. I really want to hold on to her. Taken me a long time to get someone like that. But fuck me, these other cunts.

The next phase comes soon, my little paranoid fren.

Of that you can be sure!

They really only have one option for that one, delay until after the midterms and blame the GOP if/when they sweep. Its going to end, the constitutional question is simply too big to ignore and unlike the gun issue SCOTUS won't punt it if it gets to them if the intermediary courts don't uphold it. Its not a thorny constitutional issue, nor a thorny social issue. It's just politically unpleasent.

If they could have done -anything- else to the same effect they would have, but it was the only thing actually within their control to do. God what I'd give to be a fly on the wall when that call was made.
That's the inkling I get. The pressure was building too much from the endless string of bad news/events.

I just can’t see another extension. Jobs are aplenty and it goes against the “back to normal” narrative they’re trying to push. Gonna be a hit July and August.

The only things they -need- to bring 'back to normal' are things people dislike. A slow release of pressure so that every single good thing feels like a breath of fresh air, and done slowly enough you almost forget it was a massive infringement on your basic rights all along. The moratorium has been a way to keep a base level of pressure off for a while, a way to ensure that the only pressure felt is what those in power want you to feel. They emphatically don't want it to end, and if they could keep it going indefinitely they definitely would want to.

When pressures they cannot control occur, it limits what they can do. They need to speed up the pace of letting go of other levers of power to prevent unrest.

Nigger, you're 80 years old, gay, and retarded as fuck. I'm going to make it my life's mission to be sure you're buried in an unmarked grave.

Gee Teddy, you know, if you create a society that is safe, innovative, and productive there are perks. Who knew! Fucking smoothbrains, I swear. It's like you just got your ass handed to you by the other team, but instead of looking inwards and saying "what can we do better?" you throw turds instead, and cry. Wow, amazing, I'm sure you'll get ahead with that attitude....

To explain a bit more in depth:

Imagine a pressure system that is ranked 1 - 10 with 10 being the most pressure and 1 being no pressure. Now, the more pressure exists the more people get proactive about wanting something done about it, eventually to the point they do something about it themselves. Conversely, the lower the pressure is, the less anyone wants to do anything to change the status quo. Now, if you were someone who wanted to change how people work or the system itself, you want people agitated but not TOO agitated. You want to aim for that sweet spot of 5-6 where people really want to release the pressure but aren't too agitated to do something themselves.

With that concept in mind, there are 3 things to keep in mind.
1: Releases
2: Controllable Pressure
3: Uncontrollable Pressure

Releases are methods by which people can make things feel less shit themsleves. This ranges from the benign (Your Bread & Circuses, so basic necessities and entertainment) to much less benign (Lets burn everything down!). The effectiveness and likeliness of either is directly proportional to the level of pressure.|

Controllable Pressure then is that pressure which you, as the party seeking to create change, can personally decrease or increase as you deem fit. Remember, the idea is to aim for that sweet spot.

Uncontrollable Pressure then is that pressure which you can't do fuck about. It's raising the pressure and you just have to release some to compensate because you can't do shit about it directly.

An important thing to keep in mind as well, benign releases lose strength the more they are relied upon, leading to a slow uptick of pressure the longer an issue continues. So there is a definite timelimit to how long this can take. Additionally, any reapplication of a pressure released creates more pressure than its initial application. So, for example, if we say Lockdowns added 3 pressure initially if reapplied they'd add 6.

So, with the mechanics in mind, view the situation. The democrats want to maintain that sweet spot, but have a few issues to begin with. This is going into the second year, so the ticking pressure is already pretty high. Additionally, the nation is divided and their mandate severely weakened so they cannot rely on that.

Cue the disasters.

Well, now pressure has ticked well and truly past the 6 point and given how much the left were agitating we can safely put it at a 7 or 8. Too close to the "Do it yourself" stage, so they hit the panic release button. Vaccines = Freedom. Not optimal for their plans, but it plunged things down to about a 5. Okay, a bit of unrest... everywhere. Back up to a six. Not great, but still in the sweet spot.

If the moratorium falls, the pressure skyrockets. People will now be out on their ass, already entertainment is kinda fucked. Neither bread nor circuses.

And they don't -have- another easy release valve. Even if they announce total covid victory it'd nudge it down by like... a point, since the current policy all but gives it already.

The royalty of the world finally realized that increasingly large groups of peasants were running out of things to lose.

I've got friends that work at Starbucks, and most of the people that work there are Branch Covidians that won't shut the fuck up about getting the jab. But, one of my buddies who works there adamantly refuses to get it, and doesn't even lie about it. They ask him if he's getting it, and he just says, "nah." If they press further and ask why, he just says he doesn't trust it, and that's as far as it ever gets. He's pretty happy with this ruling, because the sooner the customers get to ditch their masks, the sooner he gets to ditch his

We have 17 open positions at my major department store.

Let me repeat that: we have 17 open positions at my major department store.

We are fucking dying for people. A lot our jobs have shifted to phone interviews/hires as opposed to in-person because we're that desperate. We are playing "We're hiring we give bonuses and benefits etc. etc." announcements after every few songs on the overhead PA. Customers have gone back to normal. They're wondering why we still have registers that are going unused, fitting rooms that are still closed, and nobody is available to help them, and they're pissed about it. They don't want to shop online anymore and they're too stupid to find the merchandise they want by themselves. I've had so many customers tell me the same thing, everyone just wants to sit on their ass getting unemployment, even ladies in their 60s are like "I kinda want to get a job in retail just to help out and have something to do". At this point I don't see how this is nothing more than a concerted effort to kill brick-and-mortar businesses, shift everything to online and on-demand and get everyone on the side of UBI.

Gonna get interesting soon. The landlords being able to evict again, unemployment going back to normal, food stamps going back to normal, no sign of more stimulus checks, people having been at home long enough to get used to sitting around but also having a lot of pent up aggression, weather heating up....
Be careful out there.

So I'm probably gonna have to take the stick soon, I've been telling my family to wait as long as possible and they share my suspicions of the vaccine but living in a 3rd world country with a shit Healthcare system makes it the lesser of two evils. I have two options, Novavax and Moderna, which one would be the safest choice?

My parents are kind of in a precarious position since they both have heart conditions and my dad has diabetes so I want to suggest something with the least amount of side effects possible. I know Novavax has a smaller efficacy rate but it's a traditional vaccine which I trust a bit more. The Moderna shot has a higher efficacy rate but it's new tech and that makes my family nervous. I haven't heard much about Novavax tho, so that might be a good thing since I haven't heard that someone's skin melted off or their legs rotted after taking it.

Canada is a dystopian shithole. Despite more than 50% of adults having their first vaccine shot and the juiced covid numbers beginning to dwindle lower and lower, the government has said that "once we reach 75% of everyone 12 and older having their first vaccine shot, and 25% having their second vaccine shot, then you will be allowed to socially distance and interact with small groups of other partially vaccinated individuals outdoors (while masked, of course). You will also be allowed to do outdoor activities like hiking and camping". They've also said not to expect things like gyms being allowed to reopen until the fall, when "at least 75% of everyone 12 or older has been fully vaccinated".

Fucking Ontario has been under lockdown since last October. And it basically never ended. Ontario has a population of 14 Million people. It's fucking insane. America, please nuke Canada to put us out of our misery.

Also, the government keeps trying to shame people not getting the vaccine as "anti-vaxxers", but here's the fun difference: The Federal Government bungled procuring enough vaccines on time, so even if you wanted to get the vaccine, good luck finding anywhere where it's in stock. People are waiting in like 6 hour lines for the chance to try to get the stupid fuckin vaccine. And yet, it's apparently all the anti-vaxxers fault, not the inept government.

You want to know why they're basically locking down until the fall in Canada? Because they were so shit at getting enough vaccines on time that they're doing some really ghetto shit up here. Right now, if you get the first vaccine injection, they tell you that you can get you next shot 4 months later. Oh, and also if you got the AstraZenica shot (before it was banned), your second shot will just be Pfizer or Moderna, like some mix and match shit. They're literally making up science bullshit to justify their incompetence. I swear, I think the reason they're dragging their feet on authorizing the use of the J&J vaccine up in Canada is because it would defeat their little fucking game of "wEll yOuRe nOt fUllY vAcCinAted sO tImE foR mOrE MasKs aNd lOcKdOwnS, bIgoT".

Also, the horseshit mandatory quarantine upon re-entry in this country where they make you pay 2K to stay in a shithole hotel, making taking a vacation untenable to the non-elite. And do you want to know why they came up with this shit in the middle of January, despite it already being almost a year since covid got into the country? It was a bullshit deflection policy because a shit-ton of Canadian politicians got caught going to the Caribbean islands for a Christmas vacation after advocating for more lockdowns and restrictions. Such fucking bullshit.

If any American kiwis are willing to do a green card marriage fraud scheme in minecraft, I will pay you $20k in American Fortnite V-Bucks to get me out of this shithole quickly, and avoid the wait to get to Florida via H-1B or O-1B which could take a couple years.

Pfizer appears to be the least generally fucked of the lot, unless you have an allergy to its underlying components.

Phizer isn't an option in my country, we even lucked out finding Moderna here. For most citizens it's either AstraZeneca or the Chinese shit so graciously gifted to us by the CCP. I might just take Novavax if ever since it's at least made as a traditional vaccine apparently.

Take Moderna then. A chance of blood clots is better than whatever the fuck the Chinese do.

You're probably right that it doesn't make sense that they'd care when they've tried to extend stuff such as the Federal Unemployment add-on and the eviction moratorium while renewing talk about implementing UBI/NEETbux for the duration of the pandemic plus one year after.

However, the truth is that they have to at least look like they care about the dismal job numbers at the very least. As someone else stated, Biden got elected president on a "I'm not Trump, I can do better," platform that's been more style than substance since he assumed office. Normies that aren't into diehard partisan politics want to see a return to the life they knew before COVID hit and the slower than expected change in the economic numbers concerns them the most. So, the Dems have to put on some sort of dog and pony show to placate them if they have neither interest nor desire to do something more substantial.

At this point I don't see how this is nothing more than a concerted effort to kill brick-and-mortar businesses, shift everything to online and on-demand and get everyone on the side of UBI.
Even with various independent businesses and chains bumping up their starting pay to their highest amounts ever, people still don't want to work. COVID can still be a legitimate concern to some, but it also provides the perfect excuse for those who have become accustomed to the NEET lifestyle being bankrolled by the government. Small business have definitely struggled the most through all of this. From my professional experiences in the past year, I've seen small businesses doing anything they can to stay open and/or afloat even though they still have less staff than they did before COVID hit. Add in the fact that smaller businesses often lack the resources to implement the mandated COVID changes, guidelines, and restrictions, and it's no wonder they're also the ones that get targeted, fined, or even shut down by those enforcing the regulations. As much as most Democrats and Liberals claim they hate Corporate America, they do the things that squeeze small businesses out of business and leave nothing but the big corporations to serve the public.

Since racism has been declared a public health crisis, I can only imagine the measures they could put into place to "fight" it.
One can debate whether racism is or isn't an issue that needs to be addressed. However, declaring it a health crisis seems to be a crock of crap and a cop-out. It's not just minorities that face issues and barriers to receiving healthcare but everyone that lives in those areas without regard to race -- more-so if they make bad decisions when it comes to having a healthy lifestyle. It would be better to address the lack of healthcare or do more to promote healthy living, but that takes too much effort when it's easier to just blame everything on "institutional/systematic racism" that may or may not really exist.

The other challenge that's gone largely unaddressed is the number of black people that complain about the disproportionate number of COVID cases they've had while refusing to either get vaccinated or do the things that minimize the spread of COVID. It's hard to be sold on their claims of racism regarding COVID issues when they're refusing to do anything helpful for themselves. Sure, some black public figures have gone public to say they've been vaccinated and others should to, but they're easy to dismiss as white behaving/sellouts/Uncle Toms/etc. by the usual suspects.
