I mean, if you think I'm being unfair, I'd be happy to talk about how Rayark completely changed the entire genre with nearly every release, or how Beat Saber was a similar experimental concept that had become the biggest rhythm game going by this point in it's life, despite requiring expensive hardware. I could even go retro and bring up Amplitude. It'd be pointless, though, because as I said, that's not what fnf is about. Don't take it personally that kids messing around in a rhythm format doesn't appeal to the bemani monsters, and don't close your ears to perfectly valid criticism with 'jealous of popularity lol'.
For my part, I quite like the game, warts and all. It does what it needs to and no more. It'll be fascinating to see if they can actually make something better out of the kickstarter - if they can manage it, I predict long and fruitful game dev careers for everyone involved.
