Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

One of my favorite types of cow material (not necessarily lolcows but more looky loo freakshow funny content) Is braindead bug people reviewing stupid food products and fast food. Like no one needs a review for your gas station convienience foods from your local area. Their "rating" systems range from "its good" to "4.75/5" and everything in between. The ratings are the funniest part of the video. "Food reviews" are the most low effort content on youtube right now so just about every tard with a smartphone thinks they are going to be the next Daym Drops or something.
Don't talk shit about reviewbrah like that.

If you guys don't know about it /r/consumeproduct after it was deleted from reddit moved over to https://consumeproduct.win though I haven't checked it in the past couple months because it's a lot of nigger/kike hate and twitter screencaps. Nothing wrong with nigger/kike hate mind you just that it's usually not relevant at all to the forum. Those hate posters should instead come to Kiwifarms, the lolcow forum, to discuss their hatred of niggers/kikes.
Also if you want to see some old memes from the subreddit, I made a little archive site that hosts a portion of the content I could get that was still being served from a third-party reddit api.

The kind of money people will piss away on games they have no intention of playing or reselling just for the sake of completionism is astounding.
The worst part is reselling is always harder than buying. Someday if they realize their mistake and want to resell it it’s going to be a huge amount of effort to likely make less money than they spent.

This is what turned me off collecting anything ultimately, unless you have something truly special it’s a pain in the dick to get rid of collections. It’s why kids often just toss grandma’s prized collections after she dies.

On the topic of coffee, coffee addicts are fucking anyoying. “I have to have my 5 coffees a day or I can’t function!“ “Don’t talk to me until I have my coffee!”
”Don’t you want to go with us and buy a 5$ coffee? How do you live without it?”

Joseph Smith at least got one thing right.

The powers of dopamine. Who wants to bet this person has an unfulfilling life and keeps buying stuff to get the temporary hit of dopamine.

A few minutes of feeling good with every purchase before they have to go back to reality. It’s an addiction really, a pathetic one at that.

This thread is the only place reasonable place I know where consoomer culture criticized and broken down without devolving into sperging about Jewish conspiracies and white genocide. Inviting these hate poster will only shit up this thread and contribute to nothing.

Yeah I don't care about it. Just sharing some history and that meme archive I made. I agree with you, though you can't deny jews have a heavy hand in creating the consumer cattle we're ridiculing in this thread. Talking about jews in these kinds of crowds however seems like preaching to the choir, or beating a dead horse.
When I first joined that site I was interested in talking; Uncle Ted, book clubs, gardening, homesteading, dietary stuff. That to me is the best part about this, it makes us interested in living the complete opposite lifestyle of the soyboys. Making fun of the soyboys themselves is just the gateway drug.

Defining yourself by liking coffee (the world's most popular beverage and second most-traded commodity period) is so funny. Right up there with "Star Wars fans" claiming ownership of that property. Congratulations on being a part of an elite group of "people who like the most popular movie of all time."

Is there any way to parody this? It seems like there's almost no background noise-level thing that people wont make a personality of. Hey guys I'm a big fan of putting gasoline in my car. Big petrolhead over here. My review of Exxon 89 octane drops next week. Smash that like and subscribe button and don't forget to hit up the Patreon for bonus thoughts on diesel and kerosene.

Oh wow! You're so edgy and cool! All the 7th graders will be so jealous of how edgy and cool you are.

"Secret Menu" stuff always seemed like a ploy to me as well, especially the ones that are so well known they might as well put it on the regular menu but don't because people apparently get excited about the SECRET menu.

Was in a area with in-out burger. Figure id try it out. It was alright. Nothing special. Just a burgers and fries. According to everyone i did it all wrong though. I'm suppose to get it wild style with a side of crazy or whatever bullshit to get the proper experience.

Nigga, im not gonna do research on a fast food restaurant. If it's not on the menu, then I'm not gonna order it. Simple as that.

I realized nobody has mentioned ita bags. Though I think they're kinda creative, they do belong here.

Originally these bags were meant to show off your obsession for a particular character. The idea was to show off that you were so obsessed with a character you'd buy all of their merch, perhaps even multiple of the same pin or keychain, which you can see in some of these examples. "Ita" is a sort of Japanese slang for "painful to look at".

Examples:

Nowadays they've kind of morphed and people make more aesthetic presentations that aren't limited to one character or have multiple of the same item. They're very popular among female weebs.

...well, at least the Japs are honest. These remind me of a soyboy liberal arts major’s sticker-plastered MacBook, but somehow even worse thanks to the repetition.

This shit is so pervasive that years before I actually went to in-n-out I'd been told by multiple people to go and try the super secret animal style or whatever it is. Finally years later I did indeed go to one and order that (so the marketing worked and I'm a huge sucker). And it turns out it's a burger and there are better burgers. Don't fall for for it. Fuck them and their secret menu bullshit.

eh, it really depends on what you're collecting. Things that are meant to be collectibles actually aren't that hard to move especially if there's a market for them. Also it depends on how deep into it you are, if you're just a casual collector of course you're probably not going to make any money. If you're someone who's really engaged with the market/community you'll find deals and places to buy your preferred items that less engaged people never would.

Games are difficult because they're rather large for a collectible, and often times you're not selling to another collector you're selling to someone who genuinely wants to play the game. Shipping in bulk becomes even more cumbersome, and if you're so autistic that you're trying to complete a console you're just gonna have to accept that no one is going to want to buy your barbie games. Best bet would be to sell in bulk to someone locally who has the same goal as you once had.

Take that funko collector that has been posted in here multiple times, I hate funko as much as the next farmer but that doesn't change the fact that that dude probably has made money off his funko knowledge. There's always multiple level's of a market, most people have such low engagement/knowledge of any market that they're just gonna pay whatever the price is or not buy. The deeper you get into the market the more people you find that can wheel and deal, but you'll also find more and more items that you'll almost never find a deal on. You're average sports collector isn't going to sell their PSA 10 Lebron James rookie card for less than what they bought it for, yet there's no shortage of people who want that card none the less. So inevitably you get the price at hand, say every copy of that Lebron card sold for $1 today, I guarantee you that card will end up in the same general ball park of price it is now by the end of the year.

Whats really funny about coffee is "true consumers" french press...i.e. they use boiling water in a cylinder whule letting the coffee grounds sit/steep then they use a simple press filter to brew their own coffee. Cheap ones cost 10 bucks but they can get up there for ensuring zero grounds filter through. Bonus points for knowimg that Eight O Clock coffee is one of the best tested tasting coffees and it costs like 6-7 bucks for a decent bag size.

What a burger will always be preferred to in n out.

Yeah, that seems about right.

Based.

They even share the same big black eyes.
This kinda angers me: Copy previously successful idea, make it incredibly shittier, slap brand name on it: big success.
Even those look cheap and gaudy as fuck to what came before.
AFAIK the earliest iteration of these things would be the German Hummel Figurines from the early 1930's based on the drawings of Franciscan Nun Maria Hummel.
1621530940261.png
Like these fuckers are commonly found in households of elderly Germans, not cheap, but then again you can tell why, being from porcelain and hand drawn. They are considered very schlocky by younger people, but given that the company that made them quite production years ago, the remaining pieces will only get rarer as they get damaged or tossed by people that inherit them.

The Dutch Royal Airlines also has a similar tradition with their Delfts Blauw collectible houses for business class travellers or as promotional item. Some people even received them as a small token of goodwill for experienced inconveniences while travelling with KLM.
delftsblauwe-huisjes-klm.jpg
Granted more of a industrial mass produced item than the Hummels, but infinitesimally higher effort than plastic trash like Funkopops, Gundams or Anime/Hentai related figurine crap. The great gag of the houses is that they are hollow and filled with Old Style Dutch Jenever sealed with cork and wax.

Truly modern consumption cultures is about taking a good product/concept and endlessly diluting it with novel, but inferior versions that can be mass produced. See also Coffee and things like Coffeechains.

I thought Ita was just the japanese Onomatopoeia for ouch, in Ita bags case it refered to the pain it causes your wallet because of how much the bags and decorating them costs.
I am a certified weeb and the only reason single character or duplicate button bags arent as popular now is because of how hard it is for westeners to get nice buttons let alone 10 of the same one. Traditional weebs are becoming less common anyway as anime becomes more popular. Koreaboos are the new nutters who fetishize asians.

Talking of koreaboos alot of the rich ones will buy 100s of new album realeases so they can collect all the photo cards then sell the left over cards and albums
For context albums can come with 1-3 cards of each member depending, but there not even good photos all the time anymore some will just be shitty selfies.

"all my TaeYoung photo cards" there are 154 in the photo and poster says they had 16 more coming after taking the photo that took 2hrs to set up
1621533045663.png

This is all from one album/comeback.
22 albums and posters
22 photo cards that doesnt inculde ones that will be in the albums
about 10-15 other extra bits and bobs
