Holy fucking shit... so much shit has happened the last few days and so much juicy content has been produced, it's gonna be hard to give my shitty two cents about them but I'm gonna try.
First, really fucking surprised that Our Overlord has decided to use DSP as a hill to die on in regards to online free speech issues. I guess the inability to use the word nigger without any impediment all over the internet is really ruffling some feathers. Weirdly enough, this dialogue is happening within the context of a mythical internet past... the internet was never as friendly of a place that people made it seem, even in its inception; it's always been corporatized, monitored as fuck. It's just that the power certain corporations (that should be treated as public utilities) have amassed has become a major issue. I agree that corporate power regarding online censorship and the militarization that has happened on the internet is definitely worrying but using fucking DSP as a hallmark case as to why Twitch did a First Amendment No-No is really fucking weird. Not only are all partnered Twitch streamers essentially function as 1099 employees when streaming on that specific platform, they are bound by a contract. When money is involved and you're dealing with an imbalanced corporate power narrative, the "little guy" is always going to be on the losing side. Ironically enough, Josh's words would have a lot more weight if these forums themselves were an actual paragon of free speech absolutism. This isn't 8chan/ 8kun and if I start posting Nazi Propaganda, it's quickly going to be taken down. (Please don't move my post @actually, I swear I'm going to touching on the real autistic issues now).
Aside from the weird free speech sperg out, the juiciest news have to be why the pig was yeeted off Twitch. Who'd have thought that acting like a complete toxic shithead for over half-a-decade would actually have repercussions? Dark's inability to accept why he was booted off the platform truly defines his ancient way of thinking: because a dude that doesn't even work there anymore told him years ago that acting like a complete fuckwad was okay, Twitch is wrong in their decision and everyone telling me otherwise is also wrong. Their ToS specifically mentions that insulting someone's mental state is considered a hateful slur. And guess what has becomes the pig's go-to insults when he wants to shit on people? Mentally ill nudnik. Go see a doctor, you're sick. Detractors are sick fucks who have mental problems. Retarrrrrr.... The list goes on and on. We also have the use of the word faggot and some other juicy gamer words that are well documented and have been plastered all over the internet for years.
But for some reason, according to Dark, all of the aforementioned documented and easily accessible evidence is inadmissible because DSP believes that since he's claimed to become a different and more enlightened individual, everything that could be proven otherwise simply makes it invalid. I've been saying it for months but years of seclusion away from other human beings have prevented DSP to understand why certain decisions are made that would impact him because he doesn't understand people's perception of him when it goes against the Cult Leader narrative he peddles to his army of wheelchairs. Turns out that shielding yourself into a tiny, miserable Teflon bubble to wrangle shekels from retards make it impossible for you to understand that Twitch is a corporation made of people (the complex organic beings Phil is deathly afraid of) who work to constantly change their policies and culture. It's not even a secret that Twitch has turned into a troon-friendly factory that has made it its corporate mission statement to stamp out online hatred... what the fuck did he think was going to happen?
Now that he's off his obviously preferred platform, he did what he does best: burned all bridges to potentially make it impossible for him to go back to the better and more lucrative streaming platform. The YT chat experience is miserable. I assume quite a few paypigs might not stick around as long as he might think they will. Disregarding Twitch chat culture, emotes, accessibility to buy cheers, and donating a free Prime sub is going to hurt his bottom line in the long run. He is completely disregarding his viewer's overall streaming and cahtting experience because it is something that doesn't impact him in any way. Remember for Phil, the streams completely center around him. He's having fun but the game is boring as fuck to watch and the chat experience is miserable? Doesn't fucking matter because he's having a great time. Most people who spend time in DSP's chat are not fans... they're weirdly ironic trolls who spent an inordinate amount of time on Twitch. And there's no reason to follow DSP on YT when you can just hop around much more easily to other streams on Twitch. Once the bonanza of free money inevitably dwindles because this $400/ day requirement is completely unsustainable, we're going to get some of the best DSP content we've had in years.
The man is terrified. He is stressed. His future has never been as uncertain as it is now -- even more so than losing his partnership from Machinima and Curse. He lost the ability to monetize his channel on a much more popular, reliable, and profitable streaming platform. The underlying (almost overt to a certain extent) statement from his departnering is that DSP is not advertiser-friendly unless he regulates his behavior. That was the message Twitch sent him, that he's simply not marketable. A lack of human interaction will prevent him from ever changing. Phil will inevitably get banned from YT as advertisers once again get spooked due to whatever dumb fucking reason and YT will eventually enforce more draconian policies. The only thing that Dark has on his side is time due to YT's massive size and the millions of users it has to police. But as we've seen from Twitch, a culture change is inevitable and he will get fucked over.
