Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I bet they're pushing so hard for the vaccine because they can see the numbers dropping naturally as we go into summer. Then, when the numbers fully flatline, they can take all the credit for saving us.
That and the vaccine can get credit for the restrictions ending which was happening no matter what. This at least gives plausible deniability to utter stupidity driving all the restrictions to begin with.

Earlier tonight I stepped into a restaurant for the first time in over 14 months. Place was packed and not a single mask in sight. It felt like I was back in 2019 again even if it will take me a while before I can be in a setting like that without wanting to make jokes about how coronavirus worshippers would faint in horror at such a normal scene. God bless the free parts of America and freedom-loving Americans.

So my wife was kicked out of her bible study group because she is not getting the vaccine. She already had covid and is currently pregnant. My church has been great at handling(and ignoring) the “pandemic” but these groups are private. Nowhere is safe from this shit.
Church groups tend to be cliquey, so I'm not surprised they'd boot her over that since I've seen church groups boot out people it for similarly ridiculous reasons or none at all (still sucks for your wife, fam :feels: ). Maybe she can find other people left out and start a new bible study group that's more welcoming of those that can't or won't get vaccinated.

I didn't hear the whole thing on the radio, but it sounded like some entity might have ruled that companies can't "coerce" workers into getting vaccinated but they an offer gifts/incentives to those that choose to be vaccinated. I'm not quite sure what this means, if anything, since most companies have already either told workers to get vaccines if appropriate or chose to be more hands-off regardless of this directive/interpretation.

Huh, so turns out that's what Jesus would do.

Kids aren't one to care about "rules" and stuff. If I didn't know any better, I'd say governments were keeping all the kids out of school so they wouldn't spread messages to each other about how being forced to masks for 10 hours a day really sucks. Writing on the desks or bathroom stall walls or talking to each other about how much they hate being forced to wear masks for 10 hours a day, stuff like that.

Edit 2 - It's been almost 10 hours since vaccine. All my joints hurt. Fingers, wrists, elbows, neck, shoulders, hips, knees, ankles. Fatigue is real and in da house. Also I cannot stop eating HUGE meals, one right after another. My stomach hates me and my instinct is still pointing me toward the kitchen. WTF. This blows.
You'd better update as the days go on, dammit. Not just in editing this post either. Case studies are valuable.
Needless to say I've been disappointed at our leaders this past year. I hate that my trust in my religious leaders has taken a blow this past year.
Aww. Come on Mormons. Get your shit together. You guys are supposed to be the clean-cut but crazy ones.

I was really worried, working in a lefty tech company in Canada that people would be hounding me over the vaccine. It's been 2 weeks since they announced my age group was available, and a week since the age group 10 years younger was available. So far not a peep, as long as they don't ask me for a vaccine card and instead rely on the honor system I think I can dodge this.

Thank god I learned who to fake it around in early 2020 so I could fake some enthusiasm earlier on about the vaccines and stay out of the spotlight as someone they automatically assume would get vaccinated.

I'm not saying this to sound like Billy Big Bollox, but any work place that says i need to be vaccinated to continue to work there, will be getting a letter of resignation and a friendly phone-call from a solicitor.
Don't be a fucking retard, do it properly. Remain employed, push for a letter from employer saying you NEED to get the vaccine or they'll fire you, and that they will be liable if you get ill, for anything form missed time off work to disabling illness.

Christ. At least do this shit properly. You quitting severs your employer/employee relationship meaning you have no rights.

hate that this divide has taken hold amongst the general public.
This has also been bothering me a lot lately to the point I feel like I’m having an existential crisis. My two best friends have got the vax and are vaxxing their kids and they asked me why I am not getting it.
it really made me question having friends that stand for absolutely nothing. Their reasoning for getting it is ‘I just want to go back to normal’ and to me that is disgusting. Critical thinking is a lonely island apparently. It’s really fucking me up because I feel like this bullshit has changed me so much, I have to start a new life with new friends to avoid being disgusted.
Yeah, but that's the frogs. They'll surrender to a butter knife.
Canadians are worse. I’ve never wanted to be American more than I have this last year.
