"Chat mod"? What the hell? As someone who has (unfortunately) watched quite a lot of Dream's videos, I have never seen him once use a "chat mod".

Only Dream could make an apology this bad and still lose barely anything from it. It seriously took him this long to use the "I accidentally left a mod on" excuse literally everyone said he should have when he was first caught cheating.

Cheating in a speedrun, no matter how on pace or obvious it is, is still cheating.
If this were the case, then Chibi would still be tarding it up in Paper Mario TTYD. Lee TG would still be playing Yoshi's Island or running other games despite his live replay of a TAS. It's not that cheating isn't a huge taboo in speedrunning no matter what the case. It's bad practice and creates distrust, and also, EXTREMELY against the sport of speedruns (you know, outside of meme categories where you do use cheats.)

the transformation of r/DreamWasTaken2 is the strangest thing to me. In the beginning it was obviously more neutral, but then stans started to worm their way in and complain about how "toxic" the sub was, watching it in real time was genuinely insane. Anyways, the stans eventually started to get put off from their community and the subreddit became more of a pretend fence-sitting subreddit with a heavy pro-dream slant, almost every negative post has to be started off with "not hating on dream... but" or it gets bombarded with shit. There's some occasional gems of shitting on stan culture but now most of it is just whining about "toxicity", sucking dream's cock, and the occasional drama.

The perfect example of this change is when someone in Dream's circle, CaptainPuffy cheated on some twitch math gameshow and blamed it on her taking the covid vaccine, but the post barely got any attention there because instead they were busy whining about other shit. I can't help but feel something like that would be ripe for mocking back then.
