Microsoft will unveil the next version of Windows on June 24th - What's next after Windows 10?

No thanks. I'll just keep installing my unsupported Windows 7 CD on any new computer I get.

That is, until Bill Gates convinces the government to issue a "Windows LGBTQIAA2+ BLM Edition" passport that is required to participate in society.

So who wants to bet that it'll be an even bigger piece of shit than Win8 was and Win10 currently is?
The smart money, for sure.

Windows 3.11: Decent release.
Windows 95: Shithouse.
Windows 98: Fixed the bugs, decent release.
Windows 2000/ME: Shithouse.
Windows XP: Probably the finest operating system they've ever made.
Windows Vista: Shithouse.
Windows 7: Probably the second finest operating system they've ever made.
Windows 8: Shithouse.
Windows 10: Fixed the shitty UI design (and bugs), decent release.

I'm still on Windows 7, lol. Only just recently have I been running into random shit that needs Windows 10, like how I can't use an NVMe drive and I don't trust random pajeet drivers that claim to add support.

I also tried to migrate to Linux earlier in the year only to get stonewalled yet again by another retarded Linux problem, where Grub just wouldn't work if you have a monitor hooked up via DisplayPort to an Nvidia GPU and there's just nothing you can do about it.

It's like every few years I have to spend about 10 hours of my life trying to migrate to Linux only to get stonewalled by the stupidest shit and reminded why I still use Windows.

@Coolio55 Everyone puts up with Windows 10 because it's fine. You can do gaming/business/normie shit on it as always (with the same sorts of issues as always) and most real-life people couldn't care less that it's actually an overpriced telemetry-ridden mess.

Those are completely different Windows versions.
Prove

And 2000 was great, XP was a downgrade from it.
That's the Stockholm Syndrome talking.

I like Windows 10.
Good lad.

I haven't ported to Linux because I don't know if my games will work on it :c
It's perfectly fine to stay on Windows. Linux has its uses, but "gaming/normie computer box machine" just isn't one of them.

Yes but actually no.

Windows 2000 was a lot better than Me. Meanwhile, almost everyone seems to have memoryholed the fact that the first version of Windows XP was the result of Windows 2000 and Windows Me shagging in a broom closet i.e. an absolute shitshow. XP became one of the all-time greats, but it took until SP2 before we saw XP at its best.

Other than that, this is a fair assessment. On that basis, I think I'll stick with Windows 10 LTSC for the foreseeable future even though I'd ideally stick with Windows 7 if possible.

I like Windows 10.
I've made peace with Windows 10, mainly because of O&O ShutUp10. Even though ShutUp10 manages to mitigate many of W10 Home/Win 10 Pro's problems, I'm all about W10 LTSC. It can be a bit of a palaver to set up, especially as Windows Defender sees the required KMS38 patch as a virus, but once installed (with ShutUp10) it's almost as nice as Win7 IMHO (YMMV).

>NVidia
There's your problem. For some reason NVidia does not like to play nice with Linux. AMD seems to be the better of the two when it comes to that

Windows 98: Fixed the bugs, decent release.
Windows 2000: Windows XP Lite. Very good.
Windows ME: Unnecessary stopgap. Shitty Win98
Windows XP: Ass
Windows XP SP2: Probably the finest operating system they've ever made.
Windows Vista: Too Many Cooks
Windows 7: Probably the second finest operating system they've ever made.
Windows 8: Shithouse.

I switched from Win7 to Linux and never looked back. Until the other day, I probably had 10 minutes of hands-on time with Win10. Someone needed help installing some new software and I spent about 15 minutes clicking around trying to figure out how to run the fucking installer as admin. The option was grayed out everywhere. I read 5 or so Stack Overflow posts that suggested more and more extreme solutions until I finally thought to run Command Prompt as admin and do the install from there. HOLY FUCK. I can't fathom using an OS that doesn't have a "I don't give a fuck what this program does, just SHUT UP and run it" button. The entire OS feels like it was designed to protect the user from themselves, which is only good for people over 80 and children.

Outside of proprietary software and online multiplayer games, Linux should be the obvious choice for any tech-minded person.
