Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

The Quartering video apology was funny because it looked like a prisoner statement, but social media posts can be fun in their own way. If that apology post on facebook has to stay up, I definitely think its a win.
However you look at it, it’s a win for us because it cost John quite a bit to score that moral victory and we get to laugh at both sides.
I can also see it as a win for others like John who aren’t exactly looked favorably upon by the mainstream because it’s sets a precedence that banning certain individuals because their political affiliation doesn’t match to yours might be more trouble than it’s worth.

in this case, it didn’t it didn’t cost WorldCon much. But, now the door is open for others to do the same and be a little more successful monetarily should they choose ban someone again Over hurt fee fees and politics.

This was the kind of the result a lot of people were hoping for with Myers before he turned bitch and cucked out to Waid. Because whether Myers got paid or not, a win would make the mainstream think twice before they tried repeating what Waid did.

This lolsuit (and I don't use that term lightly) flew under my radar, so I did some research on it.

WonderCon banned Del Arroz from attending in 2018 because he's a big fat racist and so on. Del Arroz filed suit against nineteen people/organizations and "Does 1 through 30" alleging five counts of discrimination. In 2019, the court dropped all but one of those counts and Del Arroz's lawyer dropped the suit against all but one of the defendants. It appears that last month Del Arroz was demanding $50,000 in damages and a placement as a D&I officer for WonderCon (lol) to settle, but has accepted $4000 (surely much less than the cost of lawyer fees over the past three years) and a mealy-mouthed apology statement that mentions cosplay for no apparent reason.

So congrats on your victory, Pyrrhus of the Rice.
I had no legal costs. My lawyer did this for the cause cuz he's a real culture warrior.

We were aiming in trial for $50-100K but we were given their financial situations and found out they were just poor. Is what it is.

While I had pro-bono talent, they certainly did not because there's no reason to do that on the defense side (plus they had a corporate attorney at a big firm, who don't do that in general). They're out at least $20k in legal fees through all of this plus funding my next issue of comic art. And I get an apology. It's a pure win.

It teaches the SJWs they can't just fucking libel people and get away with it.

Yeah, I busted Jon's balls in my earlier post, but on further consideration I can get on board with this argument. Between this and Meyer's case, hopefully future yeetings of the politically incorrect from their business contracts will at least be done with more tact. ( :optimistic: )

And I buy Jon's post above that there was no point trying to squeeze blood from a stone. Operating a con with a limited audience in one of the nation's most expensive cities probably isn't a route to riches.

Still, it's not a victory that I think warrants quoting Freddie Mercury lyrics.

if what John says is true, I think this is a pretty big victory. Especially, since it cost him nothing to go after these people.

Still better than Meyers

It's like an inverted winners podium. A losers pit. Jon of the rice is stuck in a shallower hole in the dirt than Simple Zack.

Edit: Okay, maybe even shallower if it was pro bono, I'll admit.

Even better what, if anything, as Richard done to help? Has he made videos or done a funds campaign?

That worked so well when the situations were reversed. If he started a funds campaign the complaints would switch directly from 'y u no do nuffin' to 'y u griftin bro' and even more of 'y u no fulfillin'. It'd just help justify his policy of abandoning social media, and even his otherwise demented threat to turn off youtube comments.

I thought Ethan was supposed to have 'fuck you' money anyway?

I must say, this is a lot of fun to read:

So basically gatekeep the underground scene. Okay retard!
That, sir, is a dumb take on both sides.

The people mentioned here got to be the thought leaders of their and the next generation. They do not bow to the establishment, they shaped the establishment through their works. They started as counterculture, but after a while the geeks who read Sandman in college became C-level executives and influencers on their own.
The retardation of SJWs comes from a generation of people who only read one book: Harry Potter. And then tried to interpret socialism and feminism from a wine mom who hates trans people and says that Hermione could be black.
The people writing superhero comics were sucking Warren Ellis' dick, a fat slob who had created his personal army of Suicide Girls.

Wonder why entertainment is going to shit?

Neil Gaiman was born in 1960. Wouldn't that make him a Baby boomer celeb, using 1965 as the first year of Generation X? I guess you could argue he influenced a lot of Gen Xers without actually being one, something like that?
Some people can't even get the age of Neil right. You shocked the people who got the most likes don't know the right research? It's just a mess of crap sadly.

Nah. They bow to the establishment.

The neolibs who run the corporate shill, war mongering, big pharma boosting government with President Prison Industrial Joe on top are usefull idiot willing vassels to everything they said they were against when they were "edgy and underground".

Gaiman, Cross, Oswalt, Silverman and hell Rage Against the Machine for that matter are all middle age sellout losers enslaved to the neolib/neocon agenda by old age, social justice terrorism and TDS.

They bow willingly to Hillary, Biden and unknowingly to Bush and Cheney and they don't have a clue their strings are being pulled.

"Fuck You I won't do what you tell me" became "yes please give me Moderna's vaccine" easily and I'm pretty sure it wasn't Moderna who changed their tune.

The "underground" of the nineties was and still is a bad network executive approved joke.

Look at what passed for a new punk band in the 90s.

I can't wait to go help rage against the machine for their new Post-COVID approved tour at the Capital One Arena brought to you by Google/Amazon!

One of the first comments echos my thoughts:

There is nothing original about Kim and Kim and Brian going off about how Mark ripped him off is hilarious.

Brian claims the characters in Space Bandits have "functionally identical character designs." These are the images he chooses to use to prove his point:

jealous man 1.png

So Space Bandits has a white woman and a black woman with short hair. They are both carrying guns and have serious expressions on their faces.
Kim and Kim has a brown woman and a white woman. They both have long hair. The brown woman has a gun, but the white woman is playing a guitar. They are both smiling. Supposedly one is trans, but the artist had the good sense not to make the trans one as ugly and grotesque as an actual trans person.

Fashion wise, the white woman in Space Bandits is going for a 50s asthetic with a polka dot shirt and what looks like a formal skirt while the white woman in Kim and Kim is wearing a punkish-goth miniskirt. The black woman in Space Bandits is wearing a futuristic catsuit and space boots, while the brown woman in Kim and Kim is wearing cargo pants, a thong and a t-shirt tied around her midsection, showing off her belly.

There is literally ZERO chance that anyone with functioning eyes could confuse the two. How Brian sees them as "functionally identical" is anyone's guess.

Of course, Brian's twitter is filled with soycophants wanting to jump Brian's shriveled ladydick.

Someone actually pointed out the Dirty Pair / Kim and Kim similarities (sorry about your future blocking, my man). Brian got salty, not because he's not familiar with Dirty Pair, but because its not the same thing! Somehow.
