Bit of both, posted about it a couple months ago here. It’s a century build but one of their early imports from ~91, where all they did was cut the flash suppressor off. None of my local smiths would thread the barrel so I could add on a new flash suppressor. Sent it in for a full rebuild and refinish along with a barrel threading.
One of my friends still carries a 1911 and I feel compelled to give him shit for it all the time. At least it's not a musket I guess. I thought about getting one of those STI(or whatever they rebranded to) 9mms but I honestly cannot justify spending thousands of dollars for a 1911 even if I can get the blue label discounts.

Hopefully this brace stuff leads to Constitutional challenges against the NFA and GCA. This Supreme Court might possibly be sympathetic to it if they can stuff Roberts in a box. Mark my words though, no one is going to comply if/when they do turn braces into NFA items. The only people that complied with the bump stock ban were vendors.
i know the feeling; before he left office, nj's govoner Christine (a republican btw) banned bumps stocks too. Can't trust anyone but yourself to protect your rights.
might not be what you're talking about, but when they were first manufactured domestically, it was easier to use .264" bullets than .268" bullets, which is the correct size. you can always just measure what you have to verify. some 6.5 Carcano military surplus had liners installed for sporting use for the smaller .264 as well and this is visible as a silver "ring" at the throat for the liner.
