The normal pills are a reference to adderall with his adhd like he said in his anthony padilla interview. when i saw it i was pretty annoyed considering he definitely just sounds like hes pandering to his audience to be more relatable but to go drop this mv in the same day and have the entire thing be about your adhd and how youre ugly so you hide your face online is fucking astounding. i really dont get how people are eating this shit up, its genuinely comical

God the “normal pills” are so fucking retarded. Though, maybe this was a plan to make his psychotic fans stop take their meds and off themselves. Ethnic cleansing of the retards
Nah I think it was just him not thinking and being extraordinarily self-centred. ADHD meds can be pretty nasty, but the idea of "normal pills" in a perjorative sense, and that "your condition makes you unique", is pretty irresponsible in my view. He's never had to expand a view beyond that from finding a mental illness incompatible with modern life. Thus ends up giving a pretty chilling "throw out your meds" message to the deeply unwell fans with personality disorders or psychotic conditions.

Even for ADHD, most people with ADHD won't get obsessed with something like minecraft programming. For most people ditching school to play minecraft will ruin their life.

If the video is meant to resemble his early school life, it really speaks to just how comfortable it was. School sucks, that's a perfectly normal pressure almost everyone faces. The anxiety of failing grades, or the prospect of no future is something that frightened everyone. But there's absolutely no tension in it for Dream because we know he miraculously managed to build a career of skiving school and playing minecraft with his friends.

That's not going to be an option for the vast majority of people in that situation, I can really take this video as a true expression of Dream's feelings about his life... from how cluelessly and naively self-centred it is.

It would make sense if not for one of his twitlonger, in which he talks about how his ex-girlfriend stopped taking medications and behaved inappropriately. In particular, in relation to him

Most of his fans are teenage girls who co-opt mental disorders because they sounded trendy. It's not like the majority of his fanbase would hound him for not taking mental illnesses seriously.

Why is Clay even making music in the first place? He didn’t seem to be interested in making it prior to this year and he is god awful at music production. And to top it all off he "pays" a teenager who learned how to animate in Blender 3 months ago to make a music video for him that has multiple visual errors that he's too dumb to notice. I’m certain that he makes a fuck load of money off of both his merch and his demographic of preteens who ride the short bus that watch him cheat in a children's game at record time, so why can't he just do that instead of trying to pursue a career in music when he is obviously inexperienced and bad at making it? My guess is he needs even more money for cheeseburgers.

Because he saw youtubers like WilburSoot and Corpse getting a bunch of recognition for their work, which is deserved because they both have a passion for music, and he wanted a piece of the pie.
"Oh? People I associate with are getting their work praised and listened to? Well we can't have that, I need to be top of everything."
(not literally on top tho, he'll flatten things.)

I understand that they might be "friends" (I use that loosely because as far as I know, Dream was never invited onto Wilbur's personal Origins server and Wilbur made tweets defending the guy his friends were bitching about cheating.), but I've always been kinda weirded out about how Clay released Mask two weeks after Wilbur and his band LoveJoy released their album.

Dream doesn't discover famous seeds or really do anything technical with the inner-workings of Minecraft. As far as I can tell, he knows how to do Minecraft PvP better than most and can follow explanations of mechanics as far as it pertains to speedrunning.

Friendly reminder, Dream did not find Pewdiepie's world seed. He has even admitted "perhaps" he took more credit on that than he deserved, which he no doubt knew when he made the videos on it but he was boosting his channel off of others' work so who cares? Clayton doesn't.
Actually, if you look into earlier videos or content, you can tell Dream isn't exactly the smartest person in MC. He didn't know how water physics work in a manhunt video(?) and he certainly doesn't know about hypotenuse in PVP, which is why im sure till this day, he thinks that techno won him by luck. All he had was a lot of time and grind to get to where he was today, which anyone can do if they were as privileged as him.

I don't know anything about Minecraft so Dream and co. could just lie to me about how the game works and I wouldn't know any better. I've only ever played it casually and new Minecraft ever since 2018 or so has felt like a very different game to me. He doesn't strike me as a very smart person in a general sense after trying to refer to mathmatics he clearly doesn't understand instead of initially admitting he has no fucking clue about anything in the initial "Dreamcheated.pdf" from the speedrun mods.

On another note, I feel bad for the 16 year old(?) animator he got to make his recent music video. For a young noob I'd think that something like this is a good early project to have to show interest and current capabilities but since it's a rich and popular youtuber who commissioned it people reasonably expect professional production quality. Dream could have used the opportunity to work with a youtuber animator if he wanted to make itmore fun and networky or just shell out for proper animation.
Extra shitty if the animator did it entirely under crunchtime standards at the end of the school year and into the summer.

yeah. idk why he had to upload it on TODAY of all days, possibly something to do with the anthony padilla video in an attempt to appear more relatable and human since doubling down and insisting he is perfect didnt work out so well

He played MCPVP and was co-owner and lead plugin developer of PVP servers on Munchy. Before he started his channel he didn't play newer versions of minecraft.

As to whether Dream is smart, I'd say that he is given how much thought would go into the prison server. But his ego and tunnel vision allow him to overlook things, and that makes him look stupid.

As for hiring a 16 year old, I think this is a continuation of the pattern we've seen from Dream of him helping his friends and others into careers as content creators. He knows his success was due to his manipulation of the algorithm and contact with already established youtubers, and wants to use his platform to launch the careers of people he considers talented.

However he's gone about doing this, that approach is something I can't really hold against him in principle. I think it is good of him to extend opportunities to other people. However, it is cliquey, resembles nepotism and sets up for ugly disagreements in the future should they ever lose Dream's favour. Given Dream's ego, if someone he'd helped later fell out with Dream, to what degree would he claim credit for their successes?

That'll be interesting to find out.

This is a positive spin on things that makes sense. I have a negative bias towards him at this point so have a hard time seeing it that way.
Most comments I've seen on the animation are pointing out something wrong with it, which is fine, but I just hope that if it's a kid they're not discouraged because of this.

Ok so i dont hate dream , i dont have any strong negative opinions on him at all but god this video sucked ass....... couldve done so much better and the “normal pills” thing was so cringe coming from someone that struggles w the same disorder as him..... the song itself was bad but the animation made it like 10x worse

also i dont use this website that much and never had an account so let me know if this isnt how you write replies

The animation is awful, but it's not too bad for a 16 year old who just learned how to use blender. They at least tried to do things like complex lighting, variable focus and shots from different angles (even though the execution was amateur at best). The thing that bothers me is the possibility that they weren't paid for their work and did it purely out of their parasocial love for the person they believe Dream is He took advantage of their obsessive generosity and went with it.

Oh yeah, I could easily go into a vast autistic tirade about what stuff was done wrong in that video, but I'd cut the youngster some slack in that case, given the potential circumstances.

You can definitely blame Dream for how it turned out. I'd be 100% willing to bet that Dream has no idea what the expected workflow for this kind of animation is supposed to be (I'd be willing to bet storyboarding was minimal). Alongside that, using a fan for this was probably one of the worst decisions he could have made; A fan is probably going to low-ball you a price out of fear if they put it too high you'll find someone else, plus a fan is least likely to tell you when your ideas are fucking retarded.

I'd be willing to bet that Dream model is a quick basemesh bought from somewhere and given some quick modifications to look "Dreamy". Now technically there's nothing wrong with that, but gotta fit that Pixar style character I guess, Interesting to observe and I'd hope it means the 16yo has learned the rule of 3D animation to take advantage of if a client thinks your shit is good to just give it to them and fuck off with the cash.

This is funny, but it becomes 7.5 trillion times funnier when you realize Dream never mentioned his ADHD prior to getting canceled for saying retard. Compare it with someone like Technoblade, who made it clear for years that he had ADHD, and it’s very obvious to see from him autistically farming potatoes on a Minecraft server for 9 months. (Ironically, he’s never said retard AFAIK.)

Genuinely, I don’t want to question anyone’s mental health but what symptoms does he even display on the internet to make a music video around this? Also, if this fucker was on medication for ADHD, how is he so fat? That shit will ruin your appetite. It doesn’t matter if all you do is sit down and play videos, you will lose weight.

No, they were definitely paid.
