General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

RRAT - A non-compete agreement can last between 6-months to 2 years. So the 2-year premier time is interesting. Maybe she can keep broadcasting as Kson in the meantime but the non-compete with Cover states she can't launch a competing vtubing persona and/or agency until the end of the non-compete period.
I've seen channels with extremely far-off streams scheduled. They seem purely done for the live chat that opens up, allowing fans to chat with each other even without any stream active. Given that the stream is called FREE SPACE, I presume it is just a free chatting area.

Yeah this isnt Aloe's case where Cover threw her under the bus.
After everything Cover sacrificed to keep her, I'm inclined to believe this is Coco's own decision.

We'll have to wait and see if anyone else graduates in the near future, if that happens, the it means Cover is fucking it up and its time to jump ship.
The only bet people have is FBK herself, unless FBK did not honor her conviction. After the chink debacle last year she was the first to leave the Bilibili platform and the first to advocate for Coco.

Since Coco roommate is in early 30s, there’s also a chance she might get settle down and as Japanese woman nonetheless, they tend to quit everything and devote themselves as homemaker. It’s plausible rrat nonetheless.

She's still living with Kanata and Kanata stated that she will support her going forward. That's not typical for a newlywed.

I've been mulling about this since last night, pretty much since the start. I have no words, but I do have a whole in my stomach.

There are some very big rrats running around, but I guess the management position could be the best case scenario. The timeline kinda adds up.

Weeks ago Cover published a job posting for management positions for EN, also on may 31st she said she thought about working on management but that'd require he to drop streaming (as coco).
Kanata stated that coco will be living with her for a while, but that could create some inconveniences. I don't that would be a problem unless she'd become a manager, because talent and manager living together wouldn't look good

I hope we get some good content during the next week's. She deserves a proper send off.

That's the thing though. She already had a far off scheduled stream just for chatting. Then she changed it to premier on July 1st, the day of her last stream, before she even announced her graduation. She basically closed down her chat lobby. But now she opened it again with a 2 year window. Either she just wants to keep giving people a place to chat after she's gone or it actually means something. Who knows.

Alright fellas, I think I've downloaded all of Coco's membership streams, but I'll have to cross check tomorrow to see if I missed anything. Right now I've downloaded 8 of 755 videos starting from latest. I still haven't taken a screenshot of all of her membership posts though, but god damn there's some cute shit like this:

Fuck this shit, I'm off to bed. Maybe it's all just a bad, bad dream.

If you run out of storage space man for archiving coco's streams let me know (sadly I don't have membership) . I'll take over for you.

Perks of being in the IT industry, I have access to alot of spare storage and I know 1 hour @ 1080p can take about 3-6GB and it quickly adds up.

It is the least I can do in these sad times.
Since I think more than one of us should be doing this, I'm downloading everything as well, including membership videos even though I see that torrents for those exist already.

It's getting me paranoid to start archiving all the vtubers I watch. Now I'm beginning to understand how people become data hoarders.

I know I am relatively late to this, but I wanna give my 2ct on what I believe is the reason for the graduation.

I think a lot of the "cover hate" - as justified as it is, fuck the suits - is way overblown in this scenario. I don't really see this as Cover budging to China, but rather being a stubborn bussiness and generally not giving fair treatment to Coco ever since the Taiwan incident.

I think the crux of the issues between Coco and Cover comes down to a series of disagreements, rather than ONE decisive Issue. This is quite clearly shown with how multiple members say they tried to convince Coco not to graduate. If this was a situation in which Management just walked up to Coco and told her "We will graduate you" this would not be something they do. Instead the situation is much more likely to have been a series of disagreements, with neither Coco nor management giving in. In this case, members trying to convince Coco to give in to Managements demands would explain the statements we heard.

As i meantioned before, this is a big PR-Hit AND commerial hit to Cover, and not something even the most retarded Suits wouldn't have made half-heardedly.

While, as I said, the reason for this might not have been active China-pandering, some part of me fears that Cover might use this opportunity - i.e. getting rid of the "only" (well not really, we all know Chinks will just find another thing to be angry about, but Managers aren't know for their Intelect) Barrier between them and chink money - to try to re-enter the Chinese Market. Perhabs not with a Chinese Generation at first, but we might be in for bug-pandering.

Also this whole shitshow reminds me to start archiving Inas streams. Still have 2.1 TB storage left over, should be a enough for a start at least. We never know when shit hits the fan, so better to tressure our Oshis.

Few months ago there were speculations here what will happen in 2021. One of the top predictions was "big graduation", with some people commenting that they would be surprised if this actually won't happen. Yet what has happened just now was a big, nasty surprise for almost everyone I guess. The shockwaves are big and this caliber of graduation is unprecedented - as has been mentioned, Mano Aloe still isn't forgotten despite streaming for, like, two weeks. For Coco people may build statues or something, I would not be surprised.

As unpleasant as it is, the aftermath will be interesting to watch, especially in the context of EN2 debut. EN fans took a punch in the gut today and are sad and/or salty, but just like with the chink shit rage (r/hololive was bright red on that day), it usually burns out quickly. But this graduation is not coming off, just like the suspension in September - and people will remember it. Basically the perception of this relatively new, shiny vtuber business has changed for the western audiences and next graduations most likely won't be as shocking, for better or worse.

For me, clip with Coco shitting on Watame's crap internet was the first subbed video with a vtuber I have watched and I thought to myself: "hey, this vtuber business is not only cute uwu animu girls pretending to be perfect waifus". Approx. 6 months later, when Coco and Haachama got suspended, I understood that I actually care about this whole business. And now I think it's time for me to move on - I will be still keeping tabs on vtubers etc., but I feel kinda detached right now. With the lockdowns lifted etc. I can return to some old activities instead of watching clips and streams (but my Japanese listening comprehension has improved, there is no doubt about that), so maybe this is a sign to actually do it. Or whatever.

so maybe there should be some thread-specific stickers just for that...?

I woke up and thought I just had a bad dream, but it turns out it’s all real. I feel like she’s playing a joke on us or something. It’s sad that kiryu coco is gone, but we still have Kson, so she isn’t gone forever. I’m still going to miss kiryu coco though. I’m not as sad or as emotionally wrecked as some people on here are over the graduation, but I will genuinely miss coco, she was one of the people who brought me down the rabbit hole. I’ll keep supporting her as kson after her graduation and other holomem.

We deserve a day or two on copium. Please don't be so hard on us. (And a couple more days for the booze and benzo hangover to dissapear)
Fellas, after reading 29 pages, I have to say this is the biggest form of mass hysteria I have seen. Kiryu Coco is not graduating. I am not in denial, you just have gone mad. I am right.

...right?
Take care of your blood sugar man...

There are some very big rrats running around, but I guess the management position could be the best case scenario. The timeline kinda adds up.
The reactions from other holomems wouldn't be as emotional as they are if they knew she would be staying in a management position.

At the end of the day I believe that Coco weighed her declining mental health against the financial benefits of staying in Hololive, and came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth it anymore, and I don't think it can be boiled down to a single catalyst. I'm sure her dissatisfaction with Cover and their restrictive behavior and refusal to innovate was a factor. I'm sure the chinese antis were a big part in that decision (not just the spam in her own channel, but the consequences for other channels every time she did a collab). I'm sure the general community at large also played a part, both the obvious harassment/stalking/threats and stuff that come with being a female streamer with a large fan base, but also the expectations and pressure coming from her dedicated community. It's easy for us to say that for every faggot like that there are thousands of supportive fans, but negativity always sticks out more and is hard to block out.

Hololive blew up in the last year, and I'm sure the increased pressure and negativity that comes with such a large platform has taken its toll on the members. Yes, being a streamer for Hololive right now puts you in an amazing financial situation, but being in the spotlight that much also comes with a price. We've seen other members such as Aqua or Marine take breaks recently due to their mental health issues. Those are not going away just by taking a short break. The fact that they are openly talking about these issues, and not just blaming it on e.g. a cold, makes me think that it's quite serious. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more graduations in the upcoming months. If Coco can do it, so can they. Maybe they were just waiting for Coco to lead the way. Remember this clip?

I don't buy the rrats about Cover wanting to appease the chinese for a second. I get it, we're frustrated and want an easy target to blame but it's not that easy. This was a decision that was months in the making, and judging from the reactions of other members it seems to have genuinely been Coco's decision.

I just hope this doesn't set up a chain reaction.
