General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

-Her income won't be as high as Hololive
I wonder about that. A good portion of her fanbase will follow her and a lot of those will be the most obsessed fans who superchat the most. Without having to give Cover a cut anymore she only needs half the superchats and memberships to be earning roughly the same amount. If she uses some of her cash to commission a brand new Live 2D then I can see her eventually earning more than she did at Hololive just because she'll get more in the pocket.

Shame she had to quit though, Cover is so incompetent it's ridiculous.

Ok, I'm a fucking lazy cunt so I didn't quote or reply but are we sure Kson is in her 30's? I was assuming she was but yesterday was apparently her 22nd birthday stream.
Most are under the assumption that her being 22 is the same as Marine being 17 season 2. I don't think we have anything concrete proving it, but her previously mentioned interests and experiences from childhood suggest that she's around that age.

Not too sure about this. Concerts and 3D live events (the ones with the paid tickets, anyways) bring in loads of cash, and I would have to think the talents would take a portion of that. To me, these concerts and corporate sponsorships are the real cashcows.

Memberships, merch, and supachats can only get you so much.

Check below, as we discussed it quite recently, best sort of evidence I guess you could find. I don't blame you that much for not going that far back considering it only yesterday but it was nearly 40 pages ago. Tough times atm.... especially as im out of coffee now.
I went to her earliest Kson ON air video on Niconico, and it's on 2016 so the timeline checks out.

Gets out of high-school and first stint in uni 18-22/23 (gets hooked on yakuza),
Second university stint (my guess is Japanese studies) 22/23-26/27,
Starts Kson on 2016 after getting out of College

26/27 plus 5 years make it 31/32 years to make it to 2021. Pehaps if she took a bullshit job and was working for a year before starting Kson, she could be older.

Yeah that deleted tweet was definitely about this, she said she wanted to graduate too
The timing of it is interesting too - that Korone clip is from a stream on the 8th, and Coco did meme review with Botan on the 9th, but then didn't stream again until the 15th... seems a lot like she broke the news to the other girls around the 8th, and then took a short break to recuperate once she was able to. (I'm also completely jacked up on rrats and copium so who knows)

I maintain that this was probably a creative dispute that was piling up ever so often.
Just like that Tex Avery comparison I made it feels like cover was being more restrictive as time went on and even from the get-go they seem to be hesitant about Coco's antics.
The only thing that can be done now to amend this is to hurry up and announce the Next Generation for the English branch.
Otherwise I think people are going to be lamenting real hard

If think if it was true you'd see Pekora and Hachama go with her. Edit: Maybe Marine too.

She mentioned she went to university twice, which usually takes 4 years. More if it's a hard major or a Phd. If she had graduated high-school, did two different majors at uni AND had the time to be at hololive and Kson, and yet turn only 22 a couple of days ago, then we would be watching her at the news for future nobel prize candidate of the decade.

Still, gg Coco. I'm sure she caught some chumps who didn't know better who would now swear she's 22.

Holomen have enough clout now that they can strike it solo and have enough spergs track them down and spread them around to recapture their original audience. They wouldn't make nearly as much money, have as high-quality models and rigs, or big concerts and merch, but they'd have the freedom to stream and make whatever the fuck they want, still produce music, and probably have a much more 'my pace' life.

If Coco shows that this is viable to the others, I think it may encourage others upset with Cover management to leave their hat on the desk too. For completely separate reasons mentioned previously in the thread, a Hololice fan 'in the know' here should be genuinely concerned about Shion's future in the company too.

Well, if it's OBS there's not much that can be done. It's a piece of shit.

I've mentioned this in the thread before, but Nijisanji is presented in a way where the company says 'Here is a huge variety of entertainers for you: Pick the ones you like!'. Most fans are isolated. There are groups, generations, ship bait, and in-jokes of course, but it was never promoted as a 'family' where they're all in it together as a singular unit.

Most people who watch Nijisanji kind of understand that the people behind them are also working towards their real dreams. They stream less frequently, and most Graduations are a result of the Liver being more committed to studies or finding other jobs they want to do.

As such, it's more or less impossible for any graduation there to have a comparable impact, as a person leaving Nijisanji doesn't break the fabric the entire illusion of the company is predicated on to keep the unicorns plugged in.

Hololive is so unbelievably popular that I think people have gotten too comfortable with the idea that every member has no reason to leave, and will therefore continue to stream for years to come. Hopefully today, people realise that Cover is just another Idol company.
I think one of the biggest concerns here too was that it isn't just any random Holomember quitting - it's Kiryu fucking Coco, arguably the most popular/successful Vtuber right now.

Graduations in Niji have tended to be from literal whos, company shenanigans or in the case of Sasaki Saku, very understandable reasons (she quit because they couldn't play Nintendo games iirc).

The only Nijisanji graduation (from the top of my head) that is comparable to Coco's is Gibara's but the signs surrounding Gibara graduating was already there - she was clearly losing interest and hasn't streamed properly for about a year.

Nijisanji graduations have been slow burns, while Coco's is like ripping off the band aid.

I agree that this announcement has started to disillusion fans about the company; if one of their most successful talents is ready to move on despite being at the relative height of their VTubing career, then clearly Cover is doing something wrong.

Speaking of Nijis, whatever happened with that little red headed demon Roa? I kept an eye on her Twitter for 2 months and then stopped.

@Scuttle @Tatsunoko Sheep's got a goal and a dream, she spent too much time today telling us she ain't letting Bukodan go and that she's bringing us with her. Part of the time after that was trying to talk with chat about things and reading some of the many SC she receives.

An indie is a lot less likely to have merch or sponsorship/promotion deals, though.

Hard to tell with Asian women. Lol

They also keep more of what they earn and none of Coco's money pigs are gonna just up and ditch her. She doesn't need 1 million till she's looking for sponsorships, she needs the fans that mattered financially. They're not there for video games of course.
