Oh boy, I can't wait to wear a shirt with the bust of a grimy middle aged dude with a sour expression pointing a gun at the viewer, asking them to take their panties off.

For just this post, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and go along with the concept that he's playing a character, and that it's all done in good fun. It's just not a funny shirt because his character isn't funny. It's a serious, realistic-looking depiction of a middle-aged man holding a gun at the viewer with a very serious request. There's no juxtaposition there that makes it funny.

So here's something I slapped some text onto real quick to give an example:

Look, it's a clown ordering you to take your panties off. The core idea itself is trite, but the juxtaposition between something fun and serious is there. You already have an idea of what clowns are like, and the classic idea of what a clown does is that they ride on unicycles, throw pies at each other, all kinds of silly antics to amuse children. Of course, the whole concept of clowns being creepy is trite at this point, because we've all seen that trope at one point or another. It wouldn't be if it weren't already grotesquely overused, but it was overused because it worked so well to build out an easy-to-design, interesting character.

Comedic characters that are built out of a structure juxtaposing the serious with the silly are absolutely everywhere. The classic sad clown character is the polar opposite of Kramer on Seinfeld - the sad clown is a ridiculous character with a realistic attitude, and Kramer is a realistic character with a ridiculous attitude. It's a solo version of the classic straight-man-and-his-foil routine, a comedy staple so malleable that it transcends time and nationalities. Even Dick Masterson's old show, The Biggest Problem in the Universe, worked so well because Maddox is good at playing a straight man and Dick is good at playing a foil, but apparently neither of them realized that, and the success of that show was apparently an accident.

The reason Max Karson/mrgirl's shit doesn't work is because he puts no effort into even trying to depict himself like a character. Still giving him the benefit of the doubt, I'd guess it's because he has high self esteem and thinks he comes off like a really nice person, so he thinks that he's being funny by acting like a rapey pedophile, because he believes it's obvious that he doesn't seem like one at all.

Fact of the matter is, though, that he does. He looks like a fairly creepy dude without much of a sense of style or anything interesting to say. And it just gets worse when you see assorted photos of him posing naked, just kinda looking greasy and gross. That's why all of his pedophile shit comes off more like a confession than a skit. Shit, dude, even Boogie fully understood that Francis had to be a character, with his glasses and blue shirt, with his wife filming him throwing fits and making commentary in order to play the straight man.

And considering just how hard Dick and Vito have pushed Mrgirl, practically shoving him down Dick's fanbase's throats, and Vito obsessively arguing on Twitter and YouTube comments with people rightfully pointing out that Mrgirl is a fucking creep, it really makes me wonder what exactly the fuck is going on with this guy. I've never seen someone branded as a comedian who doesn't even seem to understand the basics of humor get shilled so hard by his friends. Is he just ultra manipulative or something?
