A legitimate reason to do so besides "MUH COLLECTION". Emulation is legitimately better on all possible fronts than playing the games on the original hardware. Speaking of which......
I dunno about this one. A lot of retro games had their art direction designed around the older hardware and displays, so emulation doesn’t do these games justice.

The fact that there is an expiration date on these relics makes them more interesting for me. Experience it now while you still can.

lol no, last year he got pissy at me on twitter because i mentioned in like 10 lines how his game is the definition of Vaporware, he answered me with "i would appreciate if you dont call it vaporware we are not selling a product but a piece of art it takes time", for context he announced his garbage in 2017 only to cry next year that he was without money, obviously Microsoft abandoned his ass

He literally got replaced by Replaced
Yeah after he got cancelled by the gaming press there's no way that Microsoft will publish his pixelshit game.

>pay soyboy eBay collector thousands of dollars for old nintendo game
>play for free on emulator

Tough choice. In all seriousness original hardware and emulators both have their advantages. One caveat about emulation is the newer the system is the less likely emulators will accurately replicate the hardware.

After seeing what E3 has to offer so far, I wonder if anybody who put down their life savings for a PS5/XSX is satisfied with their purchase.

I hope its another Fire Emblem character.
If it is another FE character I hope it's Celica from Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
I am still clinging to my delusions of seeing a proper Dino Crisis game after 21 years.

I want every future DLC character for Smash to be a sword fighter from Fire Emblem and relive the magic of the absolute nuclear butthurt that Byleth caused.

Smash fans got mad that an attractive anime girl with stockings got into Smash? I bet if it was a 13 year old boy they would've gotten hyped. Fuckin kiddy diddlers

Everyone I know who has a PS5 was lucky enough to order one online. I imagine some consoomer content creators had to bite the bullet on scalpers though.

I had a chance to buy a dIGitAl eDiTioN PS5, but that’s the kind of trap that all of these companies want gamers to fall into.

*kicks open the door to the public library* hey FAGGOTS, you ever heard of one of THESE??? *whips out a kindle* i currently have over 9000 books loaded on this bad boy *slaps the front of it with the back of my hand* and you may as well just throw out all of this faggot shit *goes and rips a bunch of pages out of a dictionary* its just taking up a bunch of space *wipes my ass with the voynich manuscript*
This attempted "gotcha" misses a very crucial detail....

Books keep getting reprinted. If I wanted to obtain a physical copy of, say, The Great Gatsby, I could do so fairly easily and cheaply because there are so many copies out there in the wild. So, yes, e-readers are retarded.

Video games don't have that luxury. Many of the games I'm talking about HAVEN'T gotten second printings and remastered/remade. "BUT WHAT ABOUT THOSE THAT DO?!" I hear you cry. Yeah, the Crash and Spyro remakes sure are great.....but what about when the PS6 or Xbox Next comes along and those games aren't compatible with that hardware? What then?

We're not talking about newer systems like the PS3/Xbox 360 though. We're talking SNES, NES, Genesis (or Mega Drive for you Eurofags), Master System/Game Gear, PS1, Saturn, etc. Games that you could play even on cheap AF PCs. And, once again, with a much smoother experience. Again, if you prefer original hardware, you do you. Just don't start crying when the consoles start failing (unless you're into that like @Grey Donovan is).

when i said Asian in this context, i meant the Canadian/French kind. not the Japanese kind.
Uh... hmm... I think either I may be missing some context, or I'm much, much worse at geography than I thought I was. What do you mean the, "Canadian/French kind"? Are there groups that are considered Asian that I am unaware of?

"We have updates for Babylon's Fall, but beware, it is questionable updates"

"Oooh, that's bad"

"But it now is 4 player co-op!"

"That's good!"

"The 4 player is due to the game being live service"

"That's bad"

"But you can partake in the closed beta!"

"That's good!"

"This beta requires registration from square enix and can use your experience to either better or worsen the overall quality of the game"

"...."

"That's bad"

"Can I go home now?"

God, "full of shit" seems to be a term you adore. I'm not going to entertain your slapfight any further after this.

Your argument here is very easy to flip around, and is very flimsy. Like I said before, the argument wasn't about a singular exception, Nintendo doesn't follow the same train as the rest of the industry, of course the Wii was going to be different and successful, there's a reason why Sony and Microsoft tried to copy it's success.

This argument wasn't made either, nowhere did I say that "2021 and 2006 they are both exactly the same with shitty games fuck them" I simply said they were similar and heading in a similar direction, and I didn't say anything about the quality of the games this year compared to 2006 and to say otherwise means you are "full of shit".
Alrighty then, whatever, sorry if I came off as overly harsh.

This is one thing that really worries me is how many old games are meant to be seen on a CRT, how one day the "true" experience might be lost to time unless people get good at filters.

Or perhaps is it not impossible though that one day companies could get back to manufacturing CRTs like they do vinyl records and vinyl record players? I mean assuming there'd be enough of a demand it wouldn't literally be impossible technology wise, would it? I can see there being a market for smallish CRTs for retro gaming in the future.

so are you guys really talking in a autistic way how you want to be raped by corpo rats?
Didn't even mean that, I meant more 'who ever tried to make a 2nd person game?' And I don't mean 'story told to you and you play the story' I mean 'you watch someone else fight while you're also in the fight.' Fun? Maybe not, but it's not MORE OF THE SAME SHIT, y'know? It'd be a RISK. Something NEW.
so like obra dinn sort of shit?

My few thoughts on this debate is that it is greatly escalating past its original conflict, which was about Nintendo terrorizing ROM sites. Which has a very simple answer to me anyways. They're legally right to do so, but they're total dicks for doing it and there is nothing wrong with backing up games from older consoles, especially when you consider Nintendo doesn't always release ways to own these games and then that's not even counting the games they don't own and can't re-release if they wanted to.

The original conflict Vyse had was Nintendo are total dicks for how they treat ROM sites that while illegal, aren't really doing any great harm and are vital to preserving data. Which I mean, I don't need to really mention how vital data preservation is to a site like Kiwi Farms.

that's like a cow being against veganism.

Kind of, I was thinking more "You're the bystander watching a brawl controlling one of the brawlers" where sometimes they'd turn to talk to their friends also watching or maybe climb on something to get a better vantage point. Maybe they're rooting for the other guy, they grab a bottle, and with that info you can dodge it. In 3rd person it'd be fairly unavoidable even though in this view it momentarily inconvenienced you for that info, and that's just off the top of my head. I'm no game designer though so take what I say with a bit of salt- I'm just a guy that wants more than 3rd person just above your back, overhead camera or 1st person view, even if it's just a less convenient 3rd person.

People did not care about him, he supposedly resumed production this year but daddy microsoft got tired of him and searched someone that could deliver on time

so it's sort of similar to oxygen not included in a way, but in oni you don't really control the duplicants. 2nd person game is not really feasible, sort of like 2nd person but not really? yup.

I've never heard anything about it, why is it so bad?
obviously very late reply, but basically, it's a game about infiltrating a local creep's house that had a promising alpha that got completely overhauled into a less promising version with every update until it's physics were on a level that made skyrim look good.

I was more going for "witnesses watch your fight unfold" but as I said, it's more an inconvenient 3rd person.

Actually just remembered a game that had what I was asking for. It was a minigame in Yakuza 4 where you'd raise a fighter, teach them moves and train them. Then the most you could do would be tell them to do certain special moves because it's not you fighting but rather you instructing and trusting them to do certain actions. I suppose games like Princess Maker and the like would count, or if a boxing game had you playing the second, watching from the corner. Then again maybe I just prefer management games so idk.

Every time the pirate nintendo crowd comes up i see the same shit:
1: By what they don't react to, selling 1 notable old game from the playstation era with little to no improvements for ~$20 is okay. Selling 3 particularly notable games from the n64 to wii era for ~$60 dollars is a direct attack on decency.
2: They are part of the 0.001% that don't buy games within the first 6 months of it's release.
3: In spite of them clearly viewing piracy as a viable option because of their vicious dislike of hardware aging, they have not grabbed the roms for these games yet, and clearly any rom site going down is the literal end of the world. They hadn't even pirated the game yet despite clearly seeing being able to play it as a human right.

Just shut the fuck up and load the rom you probably already have. you don't need to put on the song and dance about it being actually moral all along, just do it.
