I've tried to match these pictures to the definition of the actual words in my head for a while now, and I can't do it. At least that graphic of the kids and the baseball game was represented in something that's quantifiable (the boxes). Ironically, it seems to me that markets would be best at achieving this version of equity. A Soviet style policy of "everyone gets bicycle" isn't going to result in a great level of customization.

Every culture did fucked-up shit, especially during the primitive phase, and being darker-skinned didn't exempt anyone.

Part of the reason these societies are so stable (some of them still do things in exactly the same way they did tens of thousands of years ago) is they enforce conformity with the tribe's rules, with deviants treated brutally. Social norms remain identical until the equilibrium is disturbed, often by contact with outsiders.

It isn't that they're stupid. They've just been given no impetus to change or adapt, as their environment has remained identical as well. Modern humans went through phases like this lasting hundreds of thousands of years with little change.

Even basic things like the wheel aren't created because what use is a wheel to you in a dense jungle?

Maybe I'm going a bit Jared Diamond on the subject, but while there's no particular reason to demonize "primitive" people for not adapting to changes that didn't happen, it's absurd and ridiculous to portray this kind of lifestyle as some kind of unsullied angelic innocence.

It ultimately robs them of their humanity in a manner even more insidious than the overt hatred of the racist.

That picture was featured in a survey distributed by my county transportation planning council. Most of the questions were reasonable and practical. They included a question about how public transportation could be made more equitable. I assumed that since mass transit is already a public service, then what exactly would making it "equitable" look like? I skipped the question because it felt out of place compared to everything else they were asking.
