General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Ultimately it's a corporate produced song meant to advertise themselves and their talent (Gura, in this case). In terms of 2deep4u meaning I think it's somewhere between a Taylor Swift song and a commercial jingle.
Depends, like I mentioned before, it's entirely up to whether or not Gura paid for it or not. Cover/Hololive have little to nothing to say about what their song entails if they chose to fund it themselves without Cover's help. It would honestly surprise me if Gura is so strapped on funds that she wants Cover to help finance it and in turn lose her full control over what the song will be.

Obviously, most talents know what would be in bad taste for a song. Like I'm sure Watame knows that singing WAP wouldn't exactly fit her image.

What suggests she paid for this out of pocket at all? It's connected to her Hololive character, published on her Hololive channel, advertised during her Hololive stream (during her Hololive 'birthday' alongside other Hololive merch), and seems like she couldn't put it up until Hololive gave the okay. This isn't like Karen putting up a new Demondice song.

It'd be funny if, of all people to jump into the Vtuber bandwagon to extend their own grift, we get Anthony Log-tano to review the HoloMyth girls originals, starting with Gooruh and then going backwards until he reaches Calli.

Oh, hey, who left this monkey's paw here--

Hololive is a Talent agency. The members are Talents. Most of the songs are funded by the Talents. There are a few exceptions, but honestly, none that I can think of at the top of my head. They can (and some have) sell their songs to Hololive, but that's entirely up to them. It'd be stupid for a Talent agency not to give their talents publicity. One member even talked about wanting to sell her song to Cover to get it on streaming platforms but mentioned trying to get some leverage to get more money for it.

Wait, I got confused. If the agency owns the talent's character, and the talent made a song under the character's name (e.g. Mori Calliope), how do they sell the song thats under the character's name when the agency owns the character? Or am I just dumbposting haha
I don't know the ins and outs of it, but Polka talks about it a fair amount in some of her Membership streams.

4chan is rrating about what the lyrics mean. They think that the song is related to Senzawa/ a goodbye to the old persona. And ngl, I actually kinda agree with their assessment.

And then someone made this.

Interesting stuff.
I have to agree I definitely see this as an "embrace the past of Sen and everything she gave gura but now its time to move forward song"

Depending on the girl's contract the song writing could be considered outside the scope of their work for Cover. Cover might be able to claim ownership of it based on it being written by their employee, but that sounds like a quick way to kill moral.

For example Karen (Calli) might write a reaper themed song, present it to cover, and ask for x% royalties above what she usually gets since she funded it's creation and perform it as Calli. If Cover doesn't like it she can send it somewhere else.

They made a song under their real name. Publish it under their character's name. I guess.

Most songs that published on the Hololive official youtube channel.

Is a talent in an agency considered as an employee?

Song was kinda generic and like others have already said lyrics are as subtle as a hippo shitting in front of you. Can't really blame Gura for that though. Only reason Cali's songs are good is because it is seemingly her writing and producing all of them.
Bets on if Anthony Fagtano makes a review on it to try to get some relevance?

The meme is funny and all that shit, but people really wanting yagoo in the last meme review rubs me the wrong way.
I wouldn't mind seeing Yagoo, the face of Hololive management, getting a few jabs and jokes at his expense from a departing employee. I know it wouldn't change anything about Coco leaving and the potshots will probably be mild at best. But it could be an entertaining watch.

They can still be non-employee, and have contract that says they will be paid in a certain amount every month.
Absolutely. I just think it points towards a closer relationship than what most people think of a talent agency doing. Add in cover owning the rights to the characters (kson isn't taking Coco with her when she leaves) and controlling what they can do on stream and it looks more and more like they are an employee regardless of what any contract says.

We don't know what their contracts say, but I assume companies claim they own everything unless proven otherwise. Even if they don't try to enforce it and are willing to pay you most of the time.

The most I was saying with that line was if Cover decided to start burning bridges, depending on the contract, they might be able to assert they own the song

I'm curious whether it was Gura or someone from Neko Hacker who knew the actual Greek quotes to add to the song. The opener is from "The Women of Troy" by Euripides, and the closer is an unattributed proverb.
