I'm going to guess that it's TLC. TLC is making it happen because they want those sweet, sweet ratings. So who's making him lose the weight? Last time he actually lost weight was for his fucked up surgery, other than that he's never really given a fuck, probably because he's too out of his mind on meds to care.
Is the freak mother afraid he'll make them look bad?
That and they have a fetish for forcing people to lose weight.I'm going to guess that it's TLC. TLC is making it happen because they want those sweet, sweet ratings.
My 600lb life actually does help a lot of people (though anorexia is a common problem for people on the show), and despite it being TLC typical trash there are people who genuinely improve their lives.Think of the crossover potential View attachment 2282409
I don't know if it's my limited exposure to that show, but it kind of feels like it's an 50-50 scenario in terms of success. My 600lb life actually does help a lot of people (though anorexia is a common problem for people on the show), and despite it being TLC typical trash there are people who genuinely improve their lives.
Therefore, Jennings is not going to be on the show because it requires work and discipline to lose weight. Don't wanna show the viewers that being stunning and brave has negative consequences that require actual work to fix.
Yeah, there are a lot of people who don't put in the work and fuck it up. The people who do put in the effort are unrecognizable after their weight loss. Again, people who successfully lose all that weight sometimes do a 180 and develop anorexia.I don't know if it's my limited exposure to that show, but it kind of feels like it's an 50-50 scenario in terms of success.
It's actually 5%; they say that right in the introduction.I don't know if it's my limited exposure to that show, but it kind of feels like it's an 50-50 scenario in terms of success.
However, Jazz could launch another "My Big Fat Fabulous (Trans) Life"!It's actually 5%; they say that right in the introduction.
The ones that developed anorexia are trading in one eating disorder for another. A lot of people that go through major weight loss develop anxiety around food because they are afraid to gain the weight back.Yeah, there are a lot of people who don't put in the work and fuck it up. The people who don't put in the work are often attention whores.
Can you name a single "poundicipant" who went on to develop anorexia? I'm a long time gawker of that sh-show and can't recall a single one...Yeah, there are a lot of people who don't put in the work and fuck it up. Here's the My 600lb life thread if you want to sperg about that show. Now stop double posting and let's get back to Jazz. Can you name a single "poundicipant" who went on to develop anorexia? I'm a long time gawker of that sh-show and can't recall a single one...
Yes, Harvard allowed for additional deferrals in the wake of covid; I think I ran down the specifics in another post. However that would only cover a student through to Fall 2021. They would have to be enrolled and attending from this fall semester forward. August is going to be the real shit-or-get-off-the-pot moment for Jazz.As for Harvard, the recent article about him in Variety (archive link) posted here actually described him as taking a break before he would start there. However, it's been 2 years already. According to Harvard's website ( link / archive ) deferrals only seem to be for one year, unless it's for something like mandatory military service. I could see COVID possibly leading to adding on a second year, and really almost any university "rule" can be bent if you spend enough time whining at admins. But I still feel skeptical that he will ever actually attend.
Actually, did Harvard itself confirm he was even accepted there?
As for TLC, I don't think they necessarily are bound to providing a "positive" portrayal, rather just an interesting one that will get ratings. They're basically the modern equivalent of the sideshow freak tent at a carnival. Come see the man with no penis! The fattest woman in the world! The woman who birthed 20 children!
Also, you don't need to be thin to meet the definition of anorexia afaik. MOST anorexics are thin because they started out a normal weight. But if you start out as a landwhale and somehow swing to the other extreme, if you're refusing to eat for long enough you still have the same issue, you just haven't slimmed all the way down yet. Jazz would never become anorexic though because it's more a neurotic thing and tbh requires discipline

Non-underweight people with restrictive eating used to fall under EDNOS, but I recently learned (here, in fact) that EDNOS has been retired as a diagnosis and replaced with OSFED:Re anorexia. I know it’s often debated but the DSM-5 criteria for anorexia includes being underweight (using BMI):
- Anorexia nervosa: intentional self-starvation, which may lead to unhealthy weight loss
- Bulimia nervosa: compulsive overeating, followed by a form of purging calories to avoid gaining weight via vomiting, taking too many laxatives, or excessive exercise
- Binge eating disorder: compulsive overeating, leading to weight gain
- Other specified feeding or eating disorder (OSFED): may be assumed to have taken over for EDNOS, but there are actually several subcategories of eating disorders that fit into the larger umbrella of OSFED, including rumination disorder, avoidant or restrictive food intake, and pica
The hallmark of anorexia nervosa (which is actually a misnomer; it's not "nervous lack of appetite," as they don't lose their appetite, they just refuse to eat) is a distorted body image in which they see/view themselves as fat when they're thin. A form of body dysmophic disorder. I suppose you could say seeing yourself as female when you're male could be a variation of this? In a manner of speaking. Jazz does look absolutely miserable; unable even to smile convincingly...Yes, Harvard allowed for additional deferrals in the wake of covid; I think I ran down the specifics in another post. Harvard never confirmed Jazz’s acceptance but they don’t confirm for anyone. It’s against school policy.
The fact that he’s filming another season this summer seems to indicate Harvard isn’t happening. On the other hand, Jazz heading off to school could be the happy ending to the show. Every argument against Jazz attending is reasonable and logical, but then when has reason or logic ever been in play in this situation?
