For those that aren't on the up and up on the World of Darkness lore (and either are a bit lazy to research or more likely don't kbow where to start), the Wyrm's purpose is the cleansing and rectification of Creation, furthering its descent into Entropy. "He" achieves this by eliminating that which the Wyld creates and the Weaver structures.
All well and good, right? Natural order and such. Except, somewhere along the line, from the start of Creation to now, The Wyld's gone and lost it's shit. And after trying--and failing- to keep up, the Wyrm is gone into "Destroy Fucking Everything" mode. Following the tidbits Calli was spreading during today's tutorial, our boy Watoto's fallen afoul of the Defiler Wyrm, symbolizing corruption and decay.
I'm greatly abridging things in this post btw, but if you'd like to know more, I'm happy to share links.
Effectively there are like 4 forces in creation?
The Wyld which is nature
Gaia which is the earth itself
The Wyrm which is entropy
The Weaver which is creation.
The Wrym and the Weaver are basicly meant to be nothing more than grand scale computer programs, but somewhere along the way the Weaver started getting sad that the Wyrm was destroying all her toys so she imprisoned it in a cage, see that caused the Wrym to grow some emotions of it own and then it went bug-fuck nuts given it was isloated for years completely unable to do it's own purpose.
So Gaia made the werewolves to try and sort this shit out before they killed the Wyld but Gaia made werewolves with bronze age tech in mind and now they're both hopelessly outgunned but even their mind set of "The big strong one leads" is getting them killed, oh and their the good ones who want to protect the wyld.
The evil Wyrm ones who want to wipe the slate clean are just fucking nutso and do crazy shit like put evil spirts in cellphone so people get addicted but also sick, or mass genocide and rape.
Then there are the servents of the Weaver who tend to be Werespiders (Yes really) and while they're not doing anything right now so they get ignored about half the "End of the world scenario's" in the game come around beacuse everyone dealt with the Servants of the Wyrm and ignored the servents of the other batshit crazy spirit who wants to fuck everything up purely beacuse they aren't as subtle as a sledgehammer to your nutsack.
Oh also werewolves power-scale the worst out of all the WoD monsters, they're the toughest at low level/generation/enlightenment/whateverthefuckprometheanshave but everything outclasses them around the mid-point, Put a decently aged werewolf against a 7th gen Vampire and someones getting a new wolf rug.
So yeah, basicly Werewolves are completely and utterly fucked in their own setting and it's great.
