I am a server and work long ass shifts (8-12 hours), in which we have to serve people inside/outside in 100 degree weather. We keep the staff size pretty light to keep the tip pool high, so those who work are working their butts off. Honestly, I really love the heat and the exhaustion after a long shift, so thats not what pisses me off. One of the managers got one of her old friends hired who must weigh 350 pounds. My boss is such a great judge of character and has a really good eye for new hires. We have a super low turn over rate, everyone who works with us is either persuing a degree or has a degree and has worked in the industry before. Smart people with experience. WHY WOULD THEY HIRE SOMEONE WHO IS SO PHYSICALLY UNFIT TO WORK A JOB THAT REQUIRES SOME LEVEL OF FITNESS. WHY. HOW.
My step counter will track me consistently at 10 miles with a nice 7 hour shift, which is a lot of work in super humid weather. I cant imagine someone who isn't used to that kind of pace would even want to work a job like that. Apparently she works another job too, at 60 hrs/week (which i dont believe because deathfats exaggerate but whatever)
Anyway, I wanted to put my biases aside and think that I spend too much time on KF and it was clouding my judgement. NOPE
Her second weekend caused her so much pain, she popped some pus ball in her knee, had to go to urgent care and will be in a boot for 8 weeks. She said she'll be back at work on Sunday. (plz no)
I am starting to think that the fatphobia HAES thing may have entered public consciousness. People who have never seen or been around a deathfat before may have no idea that most of those people lie about their abilities to be active, and the general public is none the wiser to their deception. It seemed to obvious to me, but everyone else was oblivious to the fact the poor girl was at risk of hurting herself, badly. Which she did.
