Yeah, we know. There's been an awful lot of conveniently-scheduled dentist appointments, parent-teacher conferences, and the like.

The very first question is whether or not we were going to get paid for these mandatory "social mixers." The company tried the "but we're all friends in the big corporate family!" non-answer, so there were some notable absences.

I went to the first one because I don't want to go through the hassle of looking for another job at my advanced age, but then someone noticed out loud that most of the managers were not in attendance. Within a few minutes we were all outta there.

I'm not in the US, and the work culture is a lot different here.

Culturally, native corporate workers and the shitholers are afraid to leave before the boss does. And if the boss hates his family and/or is a workaholic, you're shit outta luck. The company mouths the government's party line about "work-life balance," but the deciding factor for who gets promotions/raises always seems to be, "he left early that one time..."

On the other hand, the honkies hold up a copy of their contract, say, "It says here my hours are x to y," and walk out at the designated time. We aren't getting promoted anyway. Newbs will try to hang out late to fit in (I did), but it is fucking boring--you have nothing to do, the boss is clearly just reading a magazine, and you quickly get tired of it.

You might get "lucky" if the boss wants to go out to eat or have a drinking party. It's better than sitting in the office, and he's buying, but once again, you'd rather be someplace else. I sometimes go to the pre-announced ones, which always draws backhanded comments ("not to busy for us tonight, eh?").

Notice how all through the 'women's bathroom' debate we got years worth of memes from men about how concerned they were about protecting women in spaces like this, and how they were going to do various acts of violence to trannies who tried to go in there? And yet, whenever there is actual pushback like in this video, it's always women doing it, and the men just stand around slack-jawed and staring. Yes this is LA, but that applies almost everywhere else it happens too.

This video really tells a story because you have a whole group of women who have banded together and elected a few spokespeople to go and fight for them. You have the Asian woman at the front desk demanding a refund and saying she will never come back. You have the woman taking the video not backing down from either the staff or the soy boys trying to get involved. You have the women chiming in from the side and quick cuts to the underaged girls who are sort of confused and scared. And half the women are still in their robes, which tells you how fast they ran out of the changing room, and none of them will go back in until the man is removed. And the woman taking the video is not leaving until all those women get refunds.

I really do love seeing random acts of camaraderie like this, and it makes me ❤️

Transgender Runner Barred from Olympics after Failing to Lower Testosterone Levels​



athlete CeCe Telfer did not qualify to compete in the women’s 400-meter hurdles track event at U.S. Olympic trials after failing to meet criteria set by World Athletics in its eligibility rules for certain women’s sports.
Telfer first competed for the men’s team at Division II Franklin Pierce, then later returned to compete for the women’s team after a hiatus. In 2019, CeCe Telfer won an NCAA title in the Women’s Division II 400m hurdle, the first biological male to earn that award.

Telfer was barred from competing in the Olympic trials for failing to satisfy the eligibility requirements for international women’s events between 400 meters and a mile. The specific condition that was unmet was that the athlete’s testosterone level was not below five monopoles per liter (nmol/L) for a time period of twelve months.
Telfer’s manager David McFarland said Telfer would not object to the decision. “CeCe has turned her focus towards the future and is continuing to train. She will compete on the national — and world — stage again soon,” McFarland said.
World Athletics determines the eligibility stipulations for the Olympics and by default the Olympic trials, USA Track and Field (USATF) wrote in a statement, explaining Telfer’s exclusion from the event.
“Following notification from World Athletics on June 17 that the conditions had not yet been met, USATF provided CeCe with the eligibility requirements and, along with World Athletics, the opportunity to demonstrate her eligibility so that she could compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. According to subsequent notification to CeCe from World Athletics on June 22, she has not been able to demonstrate her eligibility,” the statement read.
USATF said it “strongly supports inclusivity and providing a clear path to participation in the sport for all, while also maintaining competitive fairness.”
“If CeCe meets the conditions for transgender athlete participation in the future, we wholeheartedly back her participation in international events as a member of Team USATF,” it added.
The Olympics trials’ move to uphold its physical health regulations for competitors comes amid a contentious debate surrounding transgender individuals participating in sports of their opposite biological sex. Multiple Republican-controlled states have enacted legislation banning transgenders from women’s sports in an effort to preserve competition and fair play.
New England weightlifter Laurel Hubbard just became the first transgender athlete to become eligible to compete at the Olympics, a development that New Zealand Olympic Committee chief Kereyn Smith called a “historic moment in sport and for the New Zealand team.” Smith confirmed, however, that Hubbard met the required criteria.
