the over diagnosis of ADHD has been a disaster. not only does it introduce hard drugs to usually a very young persons system. it also encourages people to seek medical attention for things that could be solved by diet, exercise, etc. it also creates people like this who love the attention it gives them so they bring it up whenever they do something bad and blame all of their shitty behavior on it instead of taking responsibility.

I think we’ll look at adhd much the same way as we look back at doctors diagnosing people centuries back with just “fever” or “worms.” I do think there are people who need to be medicated for inattentiveness but I suspect it is over diagnosed. IMO our understanding of the human mind and its ailments lags significantly behind our understanding of the body and physical health. Adhd IMO is too crude of a term and the differences in individuals diagnosed with it seems too significant for it to represent a single ailment, when at best it seems to be a family of issues on a spectrum ranging from very mild to severe. I’ve also noticed that a significant number of people with adhd have family members or children who are autistic. I don’t know what the connection is between the two but it occurs too much for it to be a mere coincidence.

I am not in the emulation scene anymore but some guy as well known as byuu having his Kiwi Farms thread deleted would cause so much more shit to come to him. Even if Null completely acquiesced (and didn't take up byuu as an indentured servant) this would have only delayed the inevitable.

It's clear from his ridiculous offers that he was going through a mental breakdown and I don't know if anything could have ever gotten to him. It's clear he needed long term intensive intervention of some sort. Perhaps Null could have handled this differently but he was unusually polite during most of the exchange and I'm not going to fault a forum admin for not having the combined person skills of a suicide hotline operator and a board certified therapist to help a mentally unstable person in under 24 hours over email.

There are a million ways this could have gone over for the better but all of those would assume that byuu was rational, willing to get help, or was institutionalized.
