I don’t think the backlash will be that severe. Some people might be pissed off, but really this is a classic abuse tactic. Make someone think you’ve hurt/killed you self and when you come back and say “jk lol” the people who were worried are too relived to be mad.

He warned so many people. Someone called authorities and hopefully saved his damn life. You only threaten suicide when you don't want to die. Sure, maybe he hanged himself. But suffocation via hanging is actually pretty slow and not painful, but frightening, because it takes a good while. His body would have reacted and he would have tried to save himself. It happens a lot. There's a reason the noose is mean to break your neck in an official hanging. I think he was begging for help, and didn't want to die.
