Clownfish TV / Thomas & Kambrea Pratt / Kneon & Geeky Sparkles - The Self-Proclaimed Nemeses of Kevin Smith, Profiting off of Nerd Outrage, Part of the Fandom Menace, Gaslit by a Cartoon

Here's a thought; if an original creator wants to retain complete control over a property they developed, maybe they shouldn't involve bigger studios to gamble on it in the first place? Names like Cartoon Network are the ones who fund these projects with thousands of dollars and make them known in the world today. If a creator is unhappy with how their creation is being, that's the cost of utilizing a company to get it made in the first place.
If there's one thing I've learned about watching creators get screwed over by their own creations: If you gonna creative rights to your original stories that you are passionate about to big studios, you better be okay with other people getting their dirty hands all over it. Just look at TMNT, fuck tons of iterations and the creators are literally stopped making the original comics themselves as they are swimming in sell-out money.

Hindsight is always 20/20. I think as we go along with the growth of the internet, and the gap between "indie" and "professional" animator closing rapidly, it won't be up to big networks to create and promote things anymore.

Whoop-dee-doo Geeky, you refrained yourself from watching one single Disney product. You want a medal or something? More importantly, are there even people asking you to see it at this point?

The skill and technical gap largely close in the mid 00s but the mindset of you gonna go to Hollywood and sell out to make it big is what's been hampering progress toward creator independence. That and the crab in bucket mentality of those who did sold out and those haven't yet toward those who haven't drank the kool-aid and sold out long been the other major problem.

She has a hard time letting things go such as her dislike of the new She-ra. Honestly, if she keep on declaring they haven't seen Rise of Skywalker, that just makes me wonder if they did see it but are just denying it. Why keep on saying it otherwise?

I noticed in both this and the other video discussing TSR, Geeky and Kneon seem to hold animosity towards Critical Role for, in their words, "glamming up" D&D for a larger audience. That's what I'll never understand about Anti-SJWs; they believe these IPs shouldn't appeal to larger audiences and adamantly scrutinize the ones that do. Gatekeeping simply isn't a good business model to live by and most companies would never even consider it as an option. A good chunk of ground floor fans will not stick around with the same hobbies after 20-30 years, so why cater to the fraction that do?

IIRC, someone said that one of the things about Critical Role was because people who watch it think they know everything about D and D afterwards and they get put off when the DM doesn’t act like Matt Mercer and just do a bunch of voices and impressions for all the characters (including NPCs). To them, it gives a false impression.

On a larger scale, they feel gate keeping is necessary because to them, casuals/“normies” will come in and try to demand change to make things more “woke” or whatever to cater to their needs because they think they know everything about the subject at hand just because they say an installment of the MCU or an episode of The Big Bang Theory. And when they drive the hardcore fans out and the IP into the ground, they just see it like a conquered land and move onto the next thing, if they don’t decide to stick around and make it where the woke and disdain for what came before fester into every pore that the IP will be either zombified or six feet under completely.

Look at all the videos they did over Star Wars. Clownfish even did a video straight up saying the magic of Star Wars is gone thanks to Kathleen Kennedy and Disney.

As instructed by the mighty @Burning Fanatic I have rearranged the social media links and address to the bottom of the OP.

For those of you just reposting their videos, please give a summery and your take. They say so much dumb shit on Twitter that you can have a field day reposting it here and we can all make fun of them as a wonderful community.

If there is any stupid hot take or tweet you feel should be added to the OP, let me know!

Thanks and remember, Geeky likes brushable hair anywhere on a toy or person.

I’m not sure TMNT is the cautionary tale you think it is?

I just love how Netflix's She-Ra still lives rent-free in Geeky's mind to the point that she is now bothered that it is trending in Twitter.

Imagine the mental gymnastics required to convince your audience that nobody liked She-Ra but the numerous trends on Twitter are manipulated by a small minority.
The New She-Ra was embarrassing though.

The old She-Ra was cheap toy marketing as well, and it's weird that people would go to nutty lengths and rants to defend it. But the new version was so "Cal-Arts" it almost felt like someone trying to parody the style.

And yes, I understand that Cal-Arts, the institution, is much more varied in it's aesthetic and designs, a lot of my favorite animators went there. I am merely stating the term used, as people utilize it for a colloquial description of bean-mouth lameness.

I still will never understand adults who collect toys.

She-Ra was made with the idea of "Holy shit. We are making bank. Wish He-Man had a sister we could make money off of."

As for Adults collecting toys, much of it is an attempt to recapture or make up their childhood or surround themselves with memories of better times.

I fall in the second category but I don't sperg out. I buy what I want to and don't try to force my opinions on others.

If they want to sperg about toys they could look into Super 7 always being late and charging $50 a toy. Their newest power ranger line isn't as good as the Lightning collection you can get for $20 in stores now and isn't as accurate.

They won't do that because they want clicks and want to sound superior to other people.

I don't recall who said it (so please forgive me for not quoting you), but someone earlier in the thread said looking at their fanbase may be amusing. I've got some amusing stories to tell, if anyone's interested. I just want to make sure beforehand that it won't be considered too far off topic. I haven't been here long, but if I know one thing, it's that the mods here don't like off-topic posts.

Just saw this.

Bruh.

Don’t get me started on Super7. Almost two years from their preorder listing for the second wave of ThunderCats and they STILL haven’t shipped. Meanwhile, they’ll churn out TMNT and Reaction figures like candy from the same factory.

Brian Flynn has pulled so much shady crap he could probably get his own thread here.
