What's even worse is that the book the series is based on has been out for well over a decade, and can easily be found in most middle school, and high school libraries. It was actually pulled from one school back in 2017 after it was thought to be linked to a series of sudden student suicides in the district.

Unfortunately, it was later put back after being found to not contain the graphic scenes depicted in the show, and the fact that was unknown whether, or not the victims actually read the book, or had watched the series.
