You made me curious so a took a little look and your are right. Looks like they are hanging out behind the scenes and fair play to them.

Granted their not the same time, but for all you know they could have spaced it out to make it less obvious now.
This reminds me a really good point Chris Broad made of having friends in Japan which aren't Japanese is a really rare thing to have and foreigners living in Japan hold on other foreigners friendships dearly as there are so few. If you interested I've timestamped the video Chris said it in below in 2 bits if you got 5 or so mins of time.

Does anyone know if it's indoors? Because if not, the shadow underneath the statue would kind of point to them being taken at the same time (contradictory to when they posted it).

The Holostars segment and Kiara saying "yet" lets me hope that the EN girls will do more collabs with the guys. At the very least it seems good they're a lot more open to the idea. The Calli-Rikka collab gives me hope that there'll be more.

Calli is the only one that i think interested in collab with holostars tbh. Kiara if i remember correctly says she is not interested in collabing with holostar. Ame interacted with astel before in twitter but they haven't done any collab. Ina is questionable imo and Gura doesn't even do that much collab outside holoEN. Temper your expectations.

That seems pretty contradictionary compared to my experience when it comes to native english speakers in foreign countries.
They are pretty much always stuck in pure expat bubbles, which is very clearly also the case for TT folks and Mori given the length of their time in Japan and their lack of japanese

More than likely it's a comfort thing.

Hanging out with Roboco and Mel is more comfortable to the likes of Ame than interacting with Astel. It's safer for her brand, they're much calmer personalities, they have more connections to one another. Despite having many Duolingo streams, Roboco's competence with English isn't any better than that of Tenma, Roberu, or Rikka for example.

Kiara has already shut down Holostars being on Holotalk before, and leans so heavily into yuri-baiting that I think she wants to rekindle the more pure idol-like reputation she couldn't pull together IRL. Ina is just awkward and Gura barely interacts with anyone.

Calli focuses squarely on music, and Holostars is rife with talent that she can work with. Her roommate works with male musicians, her old TTRPG video collabs from years ago are with dudes. She isn't faking anything and her entire image is fundamentally against what an idol is.

It's lame but Holostars should just be treated as if they are to Hololive what Niji, VOMS, 774 etc are - totally separate and with no expectations they'll ever interact.
