It's generally frowned upon because usually when somebody thinks it's a good idea to phone somebody up it's some enraged alt-right gamergate reject telling trannies to kill themselves or a voice-cracking autistic screaming "I'M BATMAN I'M BATMAN" before hanging up in panic.
If you can trust yourself to behave in a normal, gentlemanly fashion and not harass people like a pants-shitting chimpanzee there's no problem whatsoever with reaching out to whoever you want to talk to and posting the results if they're entertaining and/or informative.

There's some lolzy quote-worthy things in here, but Patrick notes he "spent a long time talking to Near about their harassment via emails" - Does anyone know if these emails were published? No, what it boils down to, is these people fucking loathe accountability. They hate history. They seethe at the reality that once those dox go up, there is a tangible line to follow back to the truth - the truth that they are not a special or unique snowflake, they are not popular or well liked, they are not clever or exemplary, and more than anything, THEY ARE NOT WOMEN. They consider the identity tied to the dox to be oppressive because it reminds them that there are people out there who won't speak softly to them and coddle them and pat their little asses and tell them it's all okay, that there are people out there who don't acknowledge them as women or "nonbinary," who just see them for the sad little mentally ill self mutilating freaks they are.

I just want them to realize atm there's like 95/5 odds Byuu is alive under a different name and that this entire situation is beyond stupid.
I'm NGL people here have done some dumb stuff before that's worthy of criticism but that's what happens when you have a platform that values free speech.
Rejecting emotional blackmail, extortion, and bribes is not one of those things. Seriously if you're from Twitter all the objective evidence and facts are very easy to find and were the sites error page for a long time.
Also reminder that Kiwifarms forced Trans Lifeline to become a legitimate crisis hotline for trans people and therefore has done more as a site for trans lives than 99% of the people complaining about it.
