He is going to become a strong Ma'am soon. :story:

Seriously tho why not make a Teela Spin off later? A Teela series sounds interesting. They could focus on the character without He-man getting in the way. And they most likely could do it if they wanted to. Also I don't like her new looks at all besides her body physique. Nothing stands out or is unique. Of course she doesn't have wear the cringy 80s swimsuit like "armor" but her old hairstyle was great and it was also made in a way no one could grab her hair in a fight. And now it's just the same hairstyle we've seen a billion times in video games etc.

I get that they wanted to make her more look like a soldier but they could at least gave her an unique look.
yeah, she looks more like a peasant than captain of the guard (to be fair, she probably can't afford good amour and weapons now since she left the castle, so that's at least realistic but ughhhh Brie Larson hair), but hopefully this isn't permanent.
Reading Smith' interviews and. unfortunately, his reasoning for uplifting Teela sounds way too similar to Noelle when it comes to Catra: The wanna focus on "important issues" and Adam and Adora are white aren't "deep" enough characters, so the spotlight has to be on less "privileged" characters who'll get to save the universe via the power of lesbian™.
I do hope I'm wrong.

Smith stated on Twitter that He-man isn't stepping aside & Teela doesn't have a girlfriend (just a normal friend who is a girl). He did that because Clownfish Tv claimed the opposite because they are dumb outrage grifters.

Kevin Smith is many things, but he loves the stuff he works on and would never have He-Man take an L. Even Jay and Silent Bob, those huge fuck-ups, get a W at the end of Strikes Back.

Randor being a bitch to his son because he's not a stronk woman like Teela...
W H Y

edit: I really want this not to suck but I have a feeling they gonna be preaching about "toxic masculinity" again...
In the original series, Prince Adam was definitely made fun of by everyone ..."Clark Kent Syndrome," if you will. Adam acted weak and timid in the series to maintain his secret identity ... So yeah, I have no problem with Randor saying a few snide comments about Adam here and there.

Thinking about it, He-Man was truly one of the original Chads. He was made fun of as Adam all of the time, and he was willing to act like a weakling to keep up appearances about his secret identity. He knew that he was a badass, and didn't need to prove it to anyone else. He always set aside his ego to make sure that the day was saved. CHAD.

Anyway, I'm just as worried about this series now. If it sucks, I'll be even angrier at this than I am at the Netflix She-Ra series. This He-Man series has incredible animation and style ... Why waste it on a story that sucks?!

He-Man and She-Ra are before my time, but I watch the classic episodes off YouTube sometimes. The shows are fairly entertaining and the characters are quite aspirational which I prefer over a lot of protagonists we get these days.

It’s a shame seeing more beloved IPs get milked in the embarrassing ways these Netflix shows are doing.

Yeah, at least Noelle made it clear she didn't give a fuck about the franchise. Kevin is genuinely excited, but I do hope they're not doing the whole "Teela becomes a female He-man because fuck them pronouns" thing... Again, I trust Smith is a competent showrunner but I don't agree with how he implied Adam is not that interesting of a character. And Teela's arc about feeling betrayed by people she trusted is an interesting concept, but Teela was already a strong character who made a name for herself in the original, she doesn't need to take a man's place to prove she's valid.

Anyway, crossposting this from Clownfishers thread. :story:
He-Man.Org Revelation Discussion looks like the bigger He-Man boards are thinking Prince Adam will be gay. A lot of people there seem to be mixed on how they feel about the show being somewhere between Filmation and the 200X cartoon. They have set up a Hugbox. On the latest page of the main discussion, YellowFlash2's video gets laughed mentioned. There's too many pages, but I'm sure those Clownfish are being made fun of too.

Oh and a fair warning before you get there, the people at that forum are pretty special.
Yeah, they made a huge deal about being inclusive to spop fans, now they're having a meltdown over racebending.

I guess it comes down to who you trust more: Captain Cry, or the Screech Machine and her Also-Ran?

tfw Evil-Lyn has a better "redemption" arc than Catra and she didn't even do anything yet

At least the Del Toro cartoon might be worth watching. I saw Trollhunters and it didn’t come across as SJW crazy.
The stuff after Trollhunters was not awful either. 3Below seems at one point like it's going that way but it's one OTT joke early on that's actually even handed enough to include the elderly alongside women and minorities as the overlooked groups then fairly mellow from there on. Wizards was just not very good overall but fairly low on the SJW quota really. Hopefully this lack of excessive pandering will persist for Del Toro.

Teela was destined to become the Sorceress in the original series. There was an entire freakin' character arc about it, too.

I know that Teela is the new "Man-At-Arms" in this Netflix series, and honestly, I don't necessarily oppose that either given that the OG Man-At-Arms is her father, and she's following her Dad's footsteps. There's potential there for Teela to have another character arc about this, too: That she's choosing her future by taking after her Dad rather than letting "destiny" choose it for her or some shit. That could have been interesting, too! Hell, they could have even killed off Man-At-Arms to give Teela the motivation as well, given that this series is apparently supposed to be a sequel to the 80's cartoon.

It just rubs me the wrong way that the title of "He-Man" is apparently going to be shared now? Thanks, I hate it! Don't fuck around with the MAIN moniker/title of the entire series, Netflix. Apparently, fans are being "unreasonable" when they ask for this very basic and simple thing? It's ridiculous.

And on top of all of this, there is already a female He-Man. It's She-Ra, for the freakin' love of god!

Not even the movie, the spin-off cartoon.
Wait, it's NOT a movie? Huh.
...And I actually find it hilarious and want to watch it.

But fuck Netflix. I don't watch enough shows in general to justify a subscription for that or any other streaming sub thing. DVDs/downloads or bust for me.

yeah, 'cause actual kids would rather watch Boss Baby than calarts diversity shit for depressed tumblrtards. It's a cute and wholesome cartoon, actually.
Captain Underpants is also on Netflix and it really needs more love, it's like old Nickelodeon shows (according to the books, one of the kids is gay but the show never mentions it. Still a better representation than spop)
