There's a difference between releasing new levels, and putting the FUNCTIONAL version up for actual download.
Considering they can't even honor that, I doubt they'll even do the level updates.
The current version available for actual download has the dogshit engine, I'm not going to play it in a web browser whenever I want to play it with the good one.
 
I thought the reason they haven't updated the itch.io version was due to porting difficulties? That video by Tech Rules posted last page points out some reasons why it might not be available in desktop format yet, namely issues with running the offline video cutscenes in HaxeFlixel.

Ninjamuffin himself actually said it back in april that it would be exclusive until the search results went how he wanted, because newgrounds is "blacklisted" from google (which is a retarded statement.)

Think whatever you want of it morally, but I really don't want to set the standard for pedophilia to that.

Now this is a topic I am greatly familiarized with! I wouldn't mind helping with info here and there (just like I've done in the Games thread in the past), it's just a matter of digging through Twitter and most archives since many of these dramas are several months old now. Here are some suggestions on my part:​
  • Besides the Spete drama, Kolsan is already developing quite the cow-ish tendencies. He is the creator of the infamous Friday Night Funkin' HD (or FNFHD), which is supposed to be a "remastered" version of the vanilla game but, in reality, is Kolsan's fantasy version of it (making Girlfriend fat to suit his fat fetish, making Boyfriend speak English and sound like straight out the ghetto, completely disregarding that Daddy Dearest is the game's main villain, self-inserting himself into the game, etc). He also is quite the dramawhore, especially when people criticize his mod.​
  • Nyx was the music artist and lead behind the X-Event Mod, which was basically an FNF/Undertale AU crossover (infamous for being "hard" due to very shitty charting, similar to Mid-Fight Masses). Not only he was doing it for fame but he also actively shittalked Newgrounds while doing so, and ninja_muffin99 ripped him a new one on Twitter over it.​
  • Iago mainly has allegations behind his back, so take this with a grain of salt. Being the creator of one of the most popular skin mods, Friday Night Funkin' Minus (which he seems to have "mysteriously" stopped work on to focus on pushing his OCs like every other modder out there), word has come out of him being pretty wishy-washy over commission work. This includes, allegedly, being one of the artists working on RetroSpecter's OC mod and never delivering his part.​
  • Speaking of Retro, he has spent over 1K on his mod (which is supposed to have seven furry OCs representing the seven deadly sins), and was clowned on twitter by several other modders for begging people to play it "once it was finished". Sadly, he deleted the tweet in question, so I only have an screenshot to back myself up right now. He also cried on twitter because KawaiiSprite didn't listen to any FNF music artists (being the game's music composer and all), which I need to find.​

I think three of four of these bullet points date June alone, if anyone needs that clue.

Also, this thread needs more BBPanzu, because people shouldn't forget that the Sky drama happened because he wanted to make a mod making fun of fangirl self-insert OCs (even though he denies it, but Girlfriend literally flips Sky off and tells her to fuck off in the actual mod) and used some girl's actual character for it (instead of creating another cookie cutter black OC for it, like he always does). Also he's a huge leftist and appears in many other dramas because he's a bandwagon-jumper (like in the RebeccaDoodles drama), so here's that.

Edit: The Vs. Omega Mod is out! If that's even worth the "news". I can add some info about this mod since it's been an interesting ride with it.

  • The Gamebanana page is fairly interesting. On one hand, the stats are hidden (Edit2: now the stats are back, but frozen at 189 downloads), so you cannot track the performance of the mod. Which is funny because this mod is planning to have a series of DLCs based on download numbers. I'm not sure what's funnier, of the fact that they could lie to get whatever extra content they want out by saying that the mod got X number of downloads or the fact that Ceramic and co. are REALLY trying to be like the FNF Dev Team.​
  • Speaking of the team, this mod has 15 people working on it. It's not only Ceramic and it shows in character models, cutscenes (because some of these have more than one artist behind them, so the artstyle fluctuates a lot), even music! So if you find at least ONE SONG that sounds mildly well it's because Ceramic didn't compose it.​
This idea of "quantity" is visible in the entire mod, by the way, as announced in the trailer.​
There's probably way more, but the mod just came out and I'm not giving Ceramic downloads, so I'll wait for a pirate site to post the mod and I'll give it a try then.​

My girlfriend listened to CeramicSkin's mod, and legitimately started shaking with anger at how horrible it was. As according to her it has no tune, no melody, shit rythmn, changes scales randomly, and the only thing good about the song was the background which "He probably didnt even make".

Meanwhile I just thought it sounded like generic depressed emo pop,

Ceramic's sword guy looks like garbage though, it's so fuckin bad. It looks like someone crumpled up Zack from Final Fantasy 7 and gave him some tin can pants.

At this point I kinda feel bad for the dude, he's done the changes but for some strange reason, it just keeps getting removed.

I don't know, most of that sympathy might just come from the fact that I'm using his persona as my avatar but still.

For real why does it keep getting removed? I know the last one was removed by one of the mods for again some strange reason.

There are only three reasons why it could have been removed.
1. The music is bad.
Now, this was the case for the very first version but not for the other versions, it sounds mediocre but not bad.

2. Tracing
This one is really stupid when you consider that it's tracing over official sprite from the game, something that's already been done many times in the past without conflict.

3. It's too sexual.
Do I even need to explain why this one is retarded?

Anyways there was one last possible reason why everyone is up in arms about it but it's so fucking stupid that I don't even want to lump it in with the other ones.

It's that people are shitting their pants because the animatronics in FNAF have dead kids in them so sexualizing the characters is wrong.

This completely ignores the fact that the design it's using has nothing to do with Fnaf's lore n' stuff, it also forgets how almost all of the community has agreed that the Toy Animatronics aren't even possessed so it doesn't even matter in the first place.

I don't even care about the mod itself, I only care because of the stupid reaction to it.

I finally played the game after a long of time of just seeing it around and it was really fun honestly, the songs are super groovy.
Then I tried the Tricky Mod and got my ass kicked, fun all around tho. But as I kept looking into it, I started seeing the rather edgy mods and yeah, I knew a thread would end up appearing here eventually, it was just meant to be.

I never saw the V.S Brightside mod tho and now I wish I didn't, I can't believe how fucking bad the "music" is. I swear I made better shit in FruityLoops when I was 10.
I'm sure you can just use an AI to generate a better song with actual melody :story:

Ive noticed a lot of threads on this game popping up on /v/ over the last few months, somehow it seems like its developed a cult following. Ive never played it but its sounds like parrapa the rapper but as a browser game.

Whats even more interesting is how a web browser game of all things developed such an active modding community. Interesting stuff but not sure if there is much to milk here except from the guy in the OP. The game is skyrocketing in popularity still though so who knows what will come from it

If we're talking about vs Brightside jesus you're fucking right. The production and instruments are also so shrill that I swear to god my ears legitimately hurt after listening to it. Do not recommend listening to it with headphones.

The amount of sexual degeneracy surrounding this game is absolutely insane. I guess horny teenagers are going to do what horny teenagers are going to do but Jesus Christ this is unprecedented.
