How do you know her childhood is the sole reason for her mental illness? How do you know she wasn't always like this and would end up a shitshow even if she had good parents? Obviously her upbringing didn't help, but you don't know that's it's single-handedly what caused her to end up this way.

From everything we've heard, it would seem like it's the leading contributing factor. Personality disorders can come from being abused, likely from maladaptive coping techniques that a child has to learn early on. I can still pity her for having Margo as a mom, considering Margo herself most likely has Narcissistic Personality Disorder and she kept Venus isolated, Venus didn't have much of a chance either way. Some people just have stronger wills than others and Venus clearly does not have a strong will.

There's always the question between nature and nurture, but in this case idek how that'd matter. Margo is a freak, so it might be genetic and she woulda ended up like this anyway, sure. Totally agree with this.
She has a shit eating grin on her face as she "confesses" all this shit we have already known plus a few childhood stories. She does seem like she's drunk or on something, as per usual.

She's seriously not well both physically and mentally. Sure a lot of the blame for this can be placed on Margo but she's done herself some serious damage with the binge drinking and possibly drug use. She literally does not look, or sound, well. And if Manaki is still with her then he either truly loves her and is willing to do whatever he can for her, or he's a doormat and figures that even a crazy wife is better than no wife.

I don't know what the deal is with Manaki, he works, that's about it I think. He had a short-lived period of time where he wanted to be e-famous too but it didn't last long. I think he and Venus stayed married for Visa purposes and some part of him probably thinks Venus will come around and be his wife again eventually. I'd still like to know what "proofs" Marge has that he's dead and that Venus murdered him. I wonder if Venus said something to her that put the idea in her head or one of the girls who got obsessed with Manaki said something to her and Marge ran with it.

I'm amazed Japan hasn't kicked her out yet. I understand that she has a spousal visa, but I think slitting your wrists in a hotel because you want to die and wandering around high until three men randomly attack you (which lbr that's not how that went down) and the police come to your rescue probably violates the terms of that. After years of hearing about what a hassle managing visas are and how much of a hard ass Japan is about letting gaijin stay long-term, even for married people, I don't understand how they haven't shown her the door when it would be well deserved. She has to renew at some point, maybe they're waiting until that happens before they shove her on the flight back to Zurich.

Choosing to live in Japan while suffering from mental illness is like choosing to live around the equator while being heat intolerant. I'm talking about a culture where the proper way of admitting you need help is to remove yourself from the gene pool.

The best advice I could give is to go to the local church and beg for help. It's nearly impossible to beat addiction without replacing it with some other addictive behaviour and without any group support. I don't like organized religion but beats me where else are you going to find people who will at least try to straighten you out without expecting much in return. Therapy is useless if you're spending 95% of your time outside of the therapist's office and with nothing to do but get shitfaced again to make the time until the next therapy session pass quicker.

Dunno, maybe the local priest can be her surrogate daddy figure? At least he wouldn't allow her to cuck him into submission like that Manaki guy.
