Is there any voter ID setup that requires a scanned copy of a government-issued ID as proof of identity? Scanning something with a bunch of personally identifiable information to send in to some shitty local election office is retarded. This sounds like something she made up that she claims voters think they would have to do when I'd expect what she's talking about to be handled just like mail-in ballots are handled in states that currently require ID to vote.

Apparently it's an option in some cases, though I'm still not sure if in the case of Alabama it means present any valid photo ID or send a scan in with the application. I'd advise against scanning your driver's license on any public machine or sending it digitally over generic email.
