Blank avatar, nondescript handle, next to no followers, and 687 tweets since November 2020 (up to 689 while I was writing this post). Highly unusual, that — being so active on Twitter without making connections or personalizing the account. Even people who want to stay anonymous pick out anime avatars. This person has been tweeting into the void for eight months without carving out an identity. Curious.
Scrolling through those 687 tweets, the picture only grows curiouser and curiouser:
snl825 never retweets or tweets independently. They only quote tweet and respond to other tweets, getting into arguments with other small accounts.
The vast, vast majority of these arguments are about Philosophy Tube. Remember that November 2020 join date? It significantly coincides with the time some Twitter users cancelled PT for tweeting a transition joke about Trump. The tweet has since been deleted, and I can't find the recap on the Farms, but you can watch this Vaush video if you care enough to suffer it. The TLDR is that PT made a trans joke on November 12, and Twitter went mad because cis people making trans jokes is TRANSFFFOBIA. (PT hadn't yet come out.) This is relevant because snl825 tweeted for the first time on November 13, nobly defending Olly from the mob:
snl825 went on to make 74 tweets in the next four days, all defending PT from negative responses to his trans joke. They allowed that some criticisms were "valid" but staunchly maintained that Olly was a good guy who deserved the benefit of the doubt. Often they made remarkably specific comments about Olly's behavior and state of mind.
snl825 knows their PT lore so well that they feel confident refuting someone else's claim that Olly doesn't read tweets without notifications, making the fine distinction that he doesn't have notifications *on* for non-mutuals but still might *read* their tweets.
snl825 notes that Olly "made a deliberate effort [in interviews] to highlight" the fact that his Shakespeare charity stream was primarily managed by trans women. The diction is interesting. Imagine you're a PT fan — cringe, but give it a shot. Wouldn't you say something more along the lines of "the Shakespeare stream was managed by trans women; he mentioned it in this interview [link]"? (From a quick search, I can't actually find an interview in which he said that the stream was managed by trans women.) It's quite bizarre for an outside observer to say that Olly "made a deliberate effort to highlight" X. It suggests a familiarity with not only his public statements, but his personal intentions and the energy he put into expressing them.
After falling silent for a couple weeks, snl825 reemerged to hype Olly's postmortem livestreams:
Literally hundreds of tweets on this subject. It really got under snl825's skin. All in response to a terrifically dumb February 11 tweet in which PT claimed that the denial of black and Asian women's social value through imputations of insufficient femininity is somehow analogous to the observation that trans women's bodies are literally natally male.
In 2020, snl825 branched out slightly to discuss general interest trans issues not directly pertinent to PT. Crucially, even these replies have @PhilosophyTube among the mentions. In fact, every snl825 tweet responds to a thread that mentions the official @PhilosophyTube account.

For every tweet with visible mentions, @PhilosophyTube is among them. Some of snl825's tweets respond to deleted accounts, so the mentions aren't immediately visible, but if you navigate upthread to an earlier snl825 response to an active account, you'll find that they jumped in at a point where @PhilosophyTube was in the conversation.
At the same time, note the peculiar fact that snl825 — a fan of singular intensity, familiar with the most esoteric details of PT's work — does not, as a rule, directly respond to their hero @PhilosophyTube. No retweets of video stills, no engagement with other PT fans, no discussion of new content. Only one fawning reply to a since deleted blurry thirst trap:
And this tweet isn't so much about PT as it is a knock against the TERFS in the replies. Generally, snl825 only tweets to argue with TERFs and other critics of PT that appear in @PhilosophyTube's mentions.
About their own identity, snl825 says that that they're a "cis woman who doesn't have XX chromosomes... [has] to take estrogen... [and] can't get pregnant naturally." Conveniently, they first revealed this in the middle of an argument about whether trans women are women. They didn't mention their sex or gender before. I'm sure it doesn't need to be said that people claim all kinds of things on the Internet to gain stronger rhetorical footing, and given snl825's total lack of an identity beyond their dunks on TERFs aS a CiS wOmAn, I shall have to press X to doubt their honesty here.

this person is obsessively invested in these deep cut arguments, sending many dozens of tweets per day when PT falls in troubled waters — but only once (out of 687 tweets) in direct support of @PhilosophyTube.
later, this person starts to argue endlessly about trans issues with exactly the same opinions and rhetorical strategies advanced by PT. This isn't unusual — fans parrot their faves, and much of Trans Twitter subscribes to the same orthodoxy — but the fact that snl825 conducts 100% of these arguments in threads that mention @PhilosophyTube should raise eyebrows. It would be one thing if they were merely a diehard PT fan defending their fave in his mentions. If they're a cis intersex woman generally interested in trans rights, why don't they respond to other threads across the platform?
lastly: cringe, shiver, BABES. This, a cis woman? X X X X X.
There's no smoking gun, but look at this heap of little things — and look at the tweets. Take a minute to scroll through them. Feel out the voice of the writer. If you've read PT's Twitter and Tumblr, you know how he sounds.
snl825 likes exclamation points and caps for emphasis. They type dashes in sentences with single hyphens rather than double hyphens, en-dashes, or em-dashes. They punctuate the beginnings and ends of their sentences with "lol" and "haha" and smile emoticons. I could sperg on, but you get the gist. I'm not saying that any one of these patterns constitutes proof, just that you can very easily read snl825's 687 tweets in Abi's femme voice, sometimes rising to a drama school shout à la Trans Pride.
Tell me what's more likely:
that snl825 is the alt of a PT superfan, a cis intersex woman so dedicated to her fave that she exclusively digs into the dregs of his mentions to pick fights with 37-follower nobodies?
or that snl825 is the alt of PT, who saw these arguments show up in his own mentions and went incognito to fight back without cracking on main?
PT has said many times that he's terrified of being cancelled. November 2020 was the first time he felt heat for something he said himself (previously, he'd only been targeted for his friendship with Contra). Why wouldn't he make an alt to defend himself, to moderate the conversation and stem the backlash among his fans? PT is preternaturally obsessed with his public image; it's in his character to try to stamp out the negativity before it spreads. And why wouldn't he have a little fun dunking on TERFs along the way? It would be improper for Abigail Thorn to get her hands dirty, but snl825 can holler "disgusting bigot" and "you TERF cultists" as much as they want.
Occam's razor cuts deep.

As weird and pathetic as this account may be, I think these tweets are totally reasonable. It's clear that PT is still into Contra while Contra wants nothing to do with him, and that's creepy — but it doesn't mean he assaulted Contra, and it's not his fault /tttt/ can't or won't read the timeline. PT has the right to defend himself from accusations of sexual assault. He doesn't want to do it on main and give the rumors more exposure. Understandable. If he'd created this account simply to dispel those rumors, I'd get it.
But first he spent 683 tweets yelling at critical fans and TERFs, so yeah I'm gonna laugh at them.
Bet you five bucks that this, and not the Mumsnet comment, was the incident that inspired his "motherhood is a social construct" bit in the latest video.
To expand on my post about the typing quirks matching on both accounts, I think it’s very visible if you look out for some things.
Both regularly use single dashes in place of commas, almost always with a single space on either side of the dash which is unusual. (Eg. ‘Lorem ipsum - dolor sit amet’). Regular usage of ellipses which again is uncommon online. Also stand-out to me is the weird usage of exclamation marks by both users, even in mundane situations. Eg.
There are more examples than this. If you scroll both accounts with these quirks in mind then you’ll see the similarities jump out. Both accounts also habitually use “lol” (common) but also “heck” and, most oddly, both often slur out curse words like “Sh*t” and “f*ck”. Plus what was aforementioned about the use of “babes”. I also recall Olly using “y’all” a lot as that’s odd for a Brit but I could be misremembering. The anon count uses that a lot anyway.
In conclusion for this hyperautistic language breakdown I’d say either Olly has a VERY obsessive fan with an account solely about simping their favourite transgirl youtube star (and even similar language use), or you’ve actually found some kind of burner. Either way it’s a really suspicious account

I want it to be true but I’m not sure. I did see that Olly puts his punctuation outside of his quotes, and the anon account doesn’t. Or vice versa. I didn’t look very far but the instances I saw didn’t match up.
On the other hand, I always thought Olly’s “be kind to everyone, even to those who are unkind to me” LARP was bullshit. So it would make sense that he’d have an outlet like this for him to cope and seethe.
There are also a few other inconsistencies when looking closer. The biggest one for me is that snl825 almost always finish a tweet with a dot, while Ollie doesn't punctuate the final sentence (unless it's for something fancy like !?...).

Since I personally find the fan theory a bit strechted, because this person only replies to people ating philosphytube and how fucking great the story of the "actual person" is (intersex infirtle woman who doesn't have XX chromosoms and who is a stalker level fan of Ollie and apperently only Ollie). It could then have begun with Abighoul blowing up some steam with a friend over the ordeal and then them just fucking around together. The one thing I have against this theory is how long the account has been active.
I’ve had some free time this evening to take a better gander at the potential sockpuppet account.
I stand by my post about the similarities in diction. The specific uses of punctuation, like the oddly spaced single dashes and overuse of exclamation marks are most obvious. The point about use of full stops I think doesn’t hold water as Olly’s main Twitter does the same, it’s just more frequent when the tweets are more aggressive in subject. That’s normal for internet speak. Aside from sperging on the language, I have some more to add about the content of the account.
Like said previously, a solid 90% of the posts are obsessively white knighting in the replies of PT tweets. The account almost never responds to other tweets, and every tweet is related to PT. But notably, when they aren’t replyguying Olly’s posts, the only other thing they do is respond to/like tweets that directly tag the main PT Twitter account- even when they have basically no likes or interaction.
How exactly is the account finding these?
The account also likes and responds to some pretty funny stuff. A lot of it shits on destiny and supports PT about the time they feuded over Olly’s rentstrike (tl;dr, Olly bragged online he wasn’t paying rent because pandemic/he’s a good lefty etc. and Destiny shat on Olly for being probably more wealthy than the landlord. Idk details).
Liking this tweet in response to destiny that refers to the landlord as a “leech” and PT’s patreon millions as “living off hard work”. I’m no great fan of Landlords but the jokes write themselves here.
In fact, the account is very dedicated to liking random tweets bigging up Olly’s work, appearance and personal character. Not totally out of the ordinary for an obsessive fan but again, how are they finding all these random tweets in particular that tag the PT account?
The claim about being a “cis woman” without XX chromosomes, requiring oestrogen, but having external female genitalia is bizarre and confuses my weak understanding of intersex conditions tbh. The way the account is constantly saying “we women” and “us cis women” is weird as fuck though. Especially given that card only gets pulled in a “we REAL cis women are pro trans women in bathrooms actually sweaty and I don’t even have XX chromosomes but I’m a cis woman ” way.
In short: the weirdly similar style of writing, tireless dedication to replyguying Olly and liking PT simp posts (plus the account usage only really spiking around times Olly needs Twitter reply backup), you could pretty confidently mark this as his sock account. Spending a few minutes comparing archive tweets makes them look almost identical. The only real other theory I can posit is an insanely obsessed fan lmao.
Bonus: The account liking a legitimately hilarious tweet telling a random woman she proves the stereotype that women are dumb is true. Very feminist moment lmao

And not all hair transplants turn out well actually. Many transwomen are too poor to pay for that kind of pricey procedures out of their own pocket anyways which leads to sexwork in a lot of cases. Hence the argument that it should be covered by health insurance. (Which is somewhat fair imo) I can’t imagine the amount of time and energy that has to go into maintaining a transwomans body everyday.
By the way, after hearing snl825 mentioning ‚body modifications’ in the beginning of her last video, I wouldn’t be surprised if we are all in for watching her undergo some plastic surgery soon. She can certainly afford it. So why not go all the way?

So I’m late to the party… I only found out about any of these people after someone linked my contra points’ jk Rowling video. It was interesting, and I was surprised. I have like a preconceived notion of youtubers as being total morons so… I didn’t expect much.
But then I saw philosophy tube recommended and it was like within a few days of the jk Rowling video that olly all of a sudden apparently this person is a woman? And turned the whole ordeal into a bizarro smarmy performance piece. And I look through the other videos and it’s immediately obvious on first glance that this is a half-baked contrapoints… and even I noted right away that contrapoints was not hyping this transition theatrical clusterfuck… hence doing some digging and finding the farms

Ok I was on the fence about the snl825 account being Olly's burner but now I'm convinced that it is. The second time Olly was facing backlash was on February 11th for the above tweet where he compared black and asian women to men in dresses. That very same day the snl825 account started getting in Twitter arguments defending Olly as if their life depended on it. Snl825 tweeted about TWO HUNDRED times in the span of two days trying to defend Olly from cancellation. I don't care how autistic of a fan you are, no one is this desperate to defend their fav from criticism. I know this was already in @fax machine's post but I didn't realize the sheer number of tweets over the span of two days, it's just insane. Olly was fighting for his life for two days straight.

Snl825 continued to defend Olly for the next week, with 28 more tweets about this from February 13-19th. This is almost certainly Olly, great job @fax machine.
Also this account typically uses the British style of quotations, with periods after the quote unless the period was already included in the quote. There are also quite a few examples of tweets that don't have a period at the end. Either way, I'm sure Olly would at least attempt to change up his writing style a little bit on a burner account. The use of *gasp* and "y'all" are also present in extranny456's rather suspicious post.
The discrepancies could be further explained by PT main account being autistic about proofreading tweets to avoid backlash and the sock account can just zinnia jones style rage tweet all day long without fear of being cancelled. I found one of Olly's ex-girlfriends on Tumblr. She might be one of his exes that came out as a lesbian after dating him, she reblogged a few posts about being a lesbian and also lesbian media (oitnb, The Handmaiden, Killing Eve, etc.). She could just be bi though. She had a tag dedicated to Olly. Last post in that tag was October 15th, 2016. First post was August 3rd, 2015. She stopped updating her blog July 5th, 2019 so she's probably a bit older than 23.
