I honestly couldn't get a good enough look at the critter, but could the bugs be fruit flies from the massive amount of organic filth in her bedroom? Fruit flies don't always have to be on fruit. They go for anything rotting and fermenting and they love drains to lay their eggs. They are persistent little bastards too, even when you have a clean home, they can proliferate (again usually in drains) and take a bit off effort to exterminate.
