I wonder how many federal agents he was talking to. Usually when these kinds of plot arrests happen it turns out the whole plan was pre-written for them by an FBI handler and they were basically a schizoid or some other weak-willed person put up to it by outside influences. Going around spraying orange juice on people would be a legit crime, albeit not a serious one. Writing revenge porn on its own shouldn't be sufficient to haul him in, but if they caught him scoping out places I bet that suffices to get a conspiracy charge going. But just about all conspiracy crimes are thought crimes when you get down to it, but that doesn't stop the legal system tossing people in jail for them.
